About this property

Mt Hood Cabin Sanctuary with Hot Tub, Pets Welcome

Tucked away at the end of a quiet forested neighborhood road by the Sandy River, Trail's End is a Mt. Hood sanctuary nestled among the towering Douglas firs. Whether you're here to summit a peak or meet a deadline, the cabin delivers: private hot tub, wood-burning stove, and blazing-fast eero Mesh Wi-Fi. Walk 5 minutes to the river or drive 5 minutes to local coffee and shops. From professional-grade cookware to dedicated workspaces, every detail is thought through.

Adventure at Your Doorstep
You are positioned at the gateway to Mt. Hood’s recreation:
• The River: A short stroll leads you to the bank of the Sandy River.
• The Trails: 1 mile to Wildwood Recreation Area; 9 minutes to the Sandy Ridge Mountain Bike Trails; and surrounded by the expansive Mt. Hood hiking network.
• The Slopes: 15 minutes to Mt. Hood Skibowl; 28 minutes to Timberline and 31 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows.
• Local Flavor: While it feels secluded, you are only 5 minutes from the Thriftway grocery store and local mountain eateries. Coffee lovers are in luck: Coffee House 26 is less than a mile away, and Fernie’s and Mt. Hood Roasters are just a 6-minute drive.
• EV-Ready Basecamp: Explore Mt. Hood with peace of mind. Trail's End features a ChargePoint® Home Flex NACS NEMA 14-50 Level 2 EV Charger mounted on the exterior of the cabin. Wake up every morning to a full charge and spend your time on the trails and slopes — not hunting for a public charging station. The charger uses the NACS connector; if your vehicle uses a J1772 port, please bring your standard adapter.

The Experience: Your Daily Flow
Start your morning with a stroll to the banks of the Sandy River, then drink your coffee on the back porch, listening to the river and forest. Hit a mid-day deadline from your dedicated workspace, be on a mountain trailhead by 2:00 PM, and finish the day with an après-hike soak in the private hot tub. When the sun sets, light the woodstove and settle in for a night of board games or stargazing.

The Layout: Comfort & Privacy
The cabin's footprint offers a balance of togetherness and privacy, well-appointed for a multi-day stay.
• The Kitchen: Fully equipped with good knives, a Keurig, drip coffee pot, burr grinder, ceramic non-stick pans from the Original GreenPan, stainless steel pans and a Ninja blender for everything from pre-hike fuel to full dinners.
• The Loft: A dedicated second living room space featuring cozy nooks, books, and a collection of board games and puzzles.
• Bathroom: There is one full bathroom with a shower on the main floor and a "hobbit-sized" half-bath (toilet and sink) tucked-away in the loft—ideal for nighttime convenience.
• Downstairs Sleeping: Bedroom 1 with a king-size bed
• Upstairs Sleeping: A spacious Bedroom 2 with two Queen beds.
• Outdoor Living: Three covered porches, one includes a private hot tub; a BBQ grill, a large tree swing, and horseshoe pit in the backyard.
• Pup Amenities: We provide a plush dog bed, elevated bowls, and pup-specific towels for those muddy river adventures, along with a leash stake for ease and peace of mind.

The "Work-From-Mountain" Setup
• The signal is strong throughout the cabin, including the back porch for those who want a forest view with their Zoom calls. There is a dedicated workspace in the dining area and minimalist desks in both bedrooms, so whichever bedroom you land in, you will have a place to set your laptop.

FAQ
• How far is the cabin from hiking? There is so much hiking on Mt Hood! For example, you could drive 4 minutes to Wildwood Recreation Site, 10 min to the Old Salmon River Trail #742A, or 31 minutes to Elk Meadows Trail #645.
• How far is the cabin from skiing? We are at the base of the mountain: Skibowl (15 min), Timberline (28 min), and Mt Hood Meadows (31 min).
• Is the cabin pet-friendly? Absolutely. We allow dogs and provide a leash stake (the yard is not fenced).
• Is there a woodstove or fireplace? Yes, there is a woodstove with wood provided.
• Do you have an EV charger? Yes! We have a ChargePoint® Home Flex Level 2 charger. It is equipped with a NACS connector. For J1772 EVs, please remember to bring your own adapter.
• Are parties allowed? No. We love our quiet neighborhood and strictly adhere to no-party policies and quiet hours to respect our neighbors.

Other Things to Note
A Note on Height: To our fellow tall travelers—there is a beam between the living room and kitchen that is 6’4”. Our "hobbit-sized" half-bath in the loft is perfectly functional for most, but taller folks may find its sloped ceiling requires staying seated for the entire show. Two of our family of 4 are 6’4”+ and love the cabin, but they’ve learned to pay a little extra attention to those 2 spots.

Pet Safety & The Backyard: Please be aware that our private backyard is not fenced and blends into the surrounding forest. For their safety and to respect local wildlife and neighbors, pets must be leashed while outside. We provide a convenient leash stake in the yard for your use.

EV Charging: We provide a dedicated ChargePoint® Home Flex NACS Level 2 charger. The charger uses the NACS connector; if your vehicle uses a J1772 port, please bring your standard adapter.

Privacy & Neighbors: While the cabin feels secluded, we are part of a friendly mountain community. You may occasionally see a neighbor using a designated path at the edge of the property to access the hill—they are very respectful of guest privacy, but we like to mention it so you aren't startled.

Why does this listing look new? Trail’s End is an established guest favorite on Mt. Hood, but we are expanding to new platforms following a shift in ownership. Our current host has been co-owner and co-host since Trail’s End initially launched in 2022, so while the listing looks new, the high standards and five-star experience remain the same.

We have a Clackamas County Short Term Rental permit. Registration number STR-952-24.

Communication was great! Home was clean and close to restaurants and grocery store. Quiet neighborhood tucked back into the woods. Has a camp fire and a few yard games on the property. Would stay here again if back in the area!

There was a fire waiting when we arrived. The new hot tub was private and dry! Private home with all we needed for the Christmas weekend. Very easy access to stores, bars and restaurants. Home is clean, comfortable and dog friendly. Bonus: A SWING. Will be returning. Thank you for having us.
