I am very disappointed by this experience renting through VRBO and the responses of the owner. We arrived on a chilly night and had nothing but thin throw blankets on the beds and no quilts or comforters in the space. I texted the owner the next day and he dropped off quilts. The next night was colder, so we tried to use the heater - it was loud and instantly filled the room with a terrible smell. We were traveling with our 6 year old and didn't want her to breathe that in, so we huddled together and piled up blankets. We also found mouse traps inside the kitchen area when our child set one off. I am a pediatric nurse and am NOT happy that there were mouse traps that could have injured our child if she had not been wearing shoes. I tried to get a partial refund from VRBO and the owner, and they offered me $100 back ONLY if I did not write a negative review. I declined, and am writing the honest review. I have no issue with the 'rustic' cabin (uneven wooden floors, piles of sawdust, plywood walls), but not meeting the bare minimum of appropriate bedding, heating and safety are unacceptable.
