The check in/ out was easy and great. Only thing we had issues was locating it, we did it at night time and the signs were hard to find. But we found them and it was easy from that point on. The host communication was great. We highly recommend.
Perfect location in quiet part of the area. The layout with the bedrooms upstairs away from main gathering areas was very nice. Great outdoor space too! We rented kayaks and a paddle board, plus our own rafts and perfect weather. Family fun and great memories!

Thanks for the great review Karyn. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Family time is the best. Come see us again if you get back to the lake.
This is our 2nd year staying here for our family vacation.
We had a wonderful time disconnecting and just being together as a family.
The owners are very responsive if there are questions or small hiccups that need addressed.
We plan on making this our annual vacation spot.

Thanks Susan. So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and will be back again. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Property was well outfitted, appliances worked well, kitchen well supplied, bathrooms and bedrooms clean, air conditioning worked exceedingly well. The dock was a pleasure, great for swimming. Outdoor furniture was fine. Hughesnet internet service is poor. Cell service is not available. Problem during our stay: next door neighbor fired semi automatic weapons for 30 to 45 minutes each of the 4 days we were there. Don't know if this was a property owner or a renter.
I have rented 3 houses the last few months at LOTO and the last 2 were on the main channel which made the dock un-usable on the weekend due to boat traffic and rough water. This home is complete opposite. Quiet and I mean quiet, no neighbors, no boats, and no traffic. This was such a peaceful trip. Easy to find. Kids swam and used the dock all week with no issues. No rough water since you're in a quiet cove. I think we literally saw 3 boats the whole week. Home was well stocked with everything needed. Great patio. AC and Wi-Fi worked great. Cell service is spotty outside of the Wi-Fi range though. Host let us be which was appreciated. Read the welcome packet since Walmart is about 25 mins away. You will need toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, beach towels, etc. I would highly recommend this house if you want peace and quiet.............Couple very small recommendations, front 2 bedrooms could use black out curtains. The dock could use a table and chairs with an umbrella for shade. Around 10am to sunset, the swim side of the dock has no shade at all. I had to carry chairs down from the patio and sit on the other side of the dock, opposite the swim side, for shade. Possibly add water toys for the kids. We ended up renting a float mat for the trip. These are no way deal breakers just recommendations. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Thanks for the great review. Hope you’ll stay with us again.
Beautiful house on a quiet part of the lake. House has everything a family would need for a wonderful stay. Would definitely go back and rent it again.
This was our group's 2nd trip to this property...and it was just as great this time around! It was so nice to unplug and relax on the amazing patio area and float off of the dock. The rooms being on the upper level definitely help out if some of the group wants to go bed earlier than others. The kitchen was well-equipped with the necessities, and the home was nice and clean. Overall, we enjoyed it greatly and hope to be back next year!
Overall the property was great. The rooms were very simple, but met all of our needs. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware for all of our needs. Getting down to the house was a bit steep, but was not a big deal since we had expected it. The owner gave good instructions on where to launch the boat and where to drop the trailer which was very helpful. Getting the boat back to the dock was harder than anticipated with some shallow waters in part of the lake, but once we figured out the best path it was a non-issue. I would recommend staying here if you are looking to avoid the boat traffic in the main part of the lake.
This rental home is just what the doctor ordered! An awesome, private, and relaxing mini vacation was had by myself, my husband, our 2 kids, and my parents. The house is very neat and clean, both inside and out with just about anything you need for your home away from home. The views and peacefulness are just not found in most rentals - you usually get one or the other. The worst thing I can say is that cell phone coverage is very spotty but can be remedied by walking up the hill or using an iPhone. My android did not do very well but my husband's iPhone worked inside the house like a charm. If you are seeking a quiet, relaxing getaway with the option to fish or boat, this is where it's at!
My husband and I rented this place for a getaway with his siblings and spouses. We very much enjoyed the quiet, off the beaten path location. The roads to get there were hilly but great directions from the host. The view was amazing and direct dock access was an added bonus. This house has everything you need from towels, to kitchen utensils, to your grilling needs. Well lite and cool inside for the humid days. Awesome walkout covered deck that overlooks the lake. We'll definitely be back for another stay.
Nice, clean and quiet for our stay. Nice view. Location is a bit remote and the driveway presents its challenges but overall a great place for a family or group that wants to enjoy time on the water.
The driveway is VERY daunting and you need to remember trash bags and toilet paper, but other than that, this place is PERFECT! Awesome house with a great layout, close to the dock and water. Perfect vacation home getaway. I'd definitely go again.
We rented this cabin for a group of friends mini-reunion with our family. This was the perfect spot. Quiet spot on the lake so you didn’t have to manage crazy boat traffic. We also didn’t have to worry about being too loud. (Hey we are a group that shares lots of laughs!)
Inside the cabin was great - all bedrooms upstairs, so if someone wanted to go to bed early the night owls didn’t distract.
We brought our boat - fantastic boat slip. The closest launch is extremely tight to drop in, but we managed. The dock and outdoor space was amazing.
Only reason for 4 stars vs 5 stars - no WiFi, since this area is basically a dead zone for cell phones.
Pros:
Dock, laundry, outdoor seating, fire pit, boat slip, full kitchen, tv with dish network
Cons:
No signal (which owners can’t control) but also no WiFi. Very steep hill to get into the place. Would be tough with a very large vehicle
I put 4 stars on location because going down the hill and getting to the place is very steep. Also there is no phone service at all. You have to walk to the top of the hill to get any service. They have no internet service either. But all that said it is a gorgeous place inside and out. We had 7 adults and 2 children and it was perfect. The men enjoyed fishing and the women enjoyed relaxing.

Great Lake Retreat
Great location for a nice, relaxing lake getaway. We had a group of four couples and the house was absolutely perfect. All four bedrooms are on the upper floor, which allowed for some privacy for those that wanted to sleep in or call it a night early. The first level had a very accommodating living room, as well as the kitchen, and a full bathroom.
However, the real jewel of this property is the outdoor space. The patio was absolutely incredible and provided more than enough room for entertainment. We used the propane grill and fire pit every night and had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the natural scenery that the lake has to offer. The swimming platform on the dock provided ample sunlight and was a great staging area for water activities, be it fishing, kayaking, boating, or just floating in the lake.
The owners were more than responsive, outlined everything we needed to know a full two weeks before the trip, and provided a turn key experience. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a relaxing lake getaway. Thanks again for your hospitality and sharing your amazing place with us!

Kevin and I (Karen) have owned and managed Poco Risco's Lakefront Log Home Rentals for over 20 years (well over 20 for Kevin and over 14 years for me). We have 6 children and currently 13 grandchildren. We love the lake and everything it has to offer. We are always available to our guests for any questions about the home or the area. We built this home ourselves with the help of our friends and partners - Mike and Brenda Timmermann. Mike and Kevin have been friends for over 30 years!
Why they chose this property
This property is located on a very quiet arm of the lake where you can feel comfortable swimming, tubing, floating, fishing or skiing right from your very own private dock. It is nestled down between sandstone cliffs and the lake itself to offer a very private setting. New to the area is Ballparks National located less than 15 miles from the Sunset House. This facility is home to youth Baseball and Softball Tournaments. The chose this area because of the Ozarks being the Midwest's premier lake resort destination, offering world class boating, golfing, shopping and fishing. Also located within 15 minutes of the house is two top notch golf courses, Lake Valley and Old Kinderhook.
