First of all, this is not in Basseterre. It is in Sandy Point which is a 20 minute drive away. The description says Sandy Point but if you are not familiar with the island this will be confusing. Especially since the mapping feature takes you to a place in Basseterre! It took over 40 minutes and a call to Vrbo to get the host to call us back only to find out the location was 20 minutes away.Secondly, we had booked this apartment 6 weeks in advance. I tried contacting the host over 24 hours before our arrival for check-in instructions and didn't receive a response. When we landed in St. Kitts and I turned my phone back on, there was a message from the host, not with check-in info but to tell me there had been some glitch in the reservation process and there would be someone else staying in one of the bedrooms for the first night. And then she asked if we wanted to proceed. Understand that this was a holiday week and the week that new students and their families were arriving for Ross Vet school orientation and Carnival! There was no way we could find a reasonably priced place for our family at that point. Vrbo (not the host) ultimately offered a 1 night refund. But that was small compensation for having to spend the night with a stranger in your house.The place itself was spacious and clean. It was nice except for the weedwhacking outside our window at 5:30am and the garbage truck honking at 2am and the night when the city turned the water off.
