Greatly enjoyed our stay here for a week in February. The house was home base for us as we visited the three nearby National Wildlife Refuges. House was very clean and stocked with all essentials. Clear communications with the host added to the positive experience. Was third winter we have visited Albemarle/Pamlico peninsula to view wildlife. When we return, we will definitely try and book this lodging again.
House was lovely and clean. It was hot outside and the AC made it nice and cool. Shower had great pressure and lots of hot water. We watched the sunset on the swing in the backyard. It was secluded and quiet. Definitely a respite from the hustle and bustle of life.

About the host
Hosted by Jessica D Hassell
I have lived in Columbia: Tyrrell County my entire life. Known to some as Gods Country. I have been a housekeeper on the Outer Banks for over 20 years. In 2022 I had the honor of being presented with the International Housekeeping Award by VRMA! I love meeting new Guest but I also love the relationships with our return Guest
Why they chose this property
Sound Side in Columbia is a 2-lane Country Road with Great neighbors but also has Beautiful views over the Albemarle Sound.
What makes this property unique
Hooks Hideaway was the Home of Jim and Celia Hook while building their Forever home beside it. They loved their Lodge that became their guest house once the big house was completed. In Honor of Jim and Celia Hook!!!
