About the host
Hosted by Melanie Barnes
The owners are siblings who grew up on this property. Our parents met after college while wroking at MSU and married in 1940. After graduate school at Cornell and our father's tour in WWII, they returned to Starkville. We lived on campus on Magruder Street in faculty housing for a number of years, until they built this home in 1961. Our father retired from MSU in 1978 as Head of the Biochemistry Department. They lived here until the late 90's when they passed away. We hope you will enjoy this home and it's serene location as much as we have.
Why they chose this property
Our parents purchased this property which had been the County Poor House in 1958 and built this house in 1961.
What makes this property unique
Our mother always liked the unobstructed view over the lake with no neighbors in sight. We think you will too.
