Off grid with Goats...great views and pups stay free
This renovated cabin was on skids, and we have added a beautiful sunroom/living area with a walk out grade patio to complete the design. It has solar power, with a back up generator..and has a pull out couch, as well as twins in each bedroom, so sleeping capacity is 6. We have a wonderful weber grill, as well as a fire pit on the patio, outside dining and a nice covered front porch, for shade in the hot afternoons...also has a gazebo, on the top of the elk pen here on the Ranch. Nice place for a nap, or practice your morning or evening yoga!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little cabin on a hill. It was as secluded as as can be with beautiful surroundings. The cabin itself was very clean with everything we needed. We didn’t see any elk but the goats came by quite often and were very entertaining. We would definitely stay there again
This was our second trip to the Elk Cabin and we absolutely loved it. The cabin is so cozy. You feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle but the city is just 20 minutes away. Mary and Terry are incredible hosts and always available for any problems. We can’t wait to come back for a third time!
This place is amazing. It was our 2nd time staying and it was great! Very secluded, perfect for star-gazing, and overall delightfully peaceful. The cabin is super cozy- feels like home.
We had a great time. The location and property were terrific. We loved seeing the elk up close one morning and loved having a spot to ourselves for the weekend. Mary was great to communicate with.
We were looking for something unique for our visit to Colorado. This place was wonderful! Great views, elk visits and quiet! Mary our host was communicative and helpful. The house fit our needs perfectly. I hope to return someday!
We spent three nights here at the midpoint of our 2-week family trip. It was perfect for us. Spectacular sunset and sunrise. Cute town to visit and Rifle Falls State Park. Great hosts!
This place does not disappoint! Spectacular views! Beautiful wildlife! Unbelievably peaceful!
Exactly the place to be if you want to get away from the world!
The property is gorgeous! Fantastic views and the wildlife abundant! Being off the grid took a little getting used to, but not much! Hosts are great! Would definitely recommend!
We liked the dog friendly fenced in yard.
Our family rode the Gondola & saw the caves at Glenwood Springs. We also had a fly fishing float trip and went white water rafting.
Stayed here for two nights to slow down with our kids after 4 busy vacation days. The kids collected firewood for the fire pit, climbed some trees. We ate smores and chatted with the Elk on the other side of fence! Mary was so communicative and friendly. Her joy of hosting was so evident. We felt so welcomed. This is a special little cabin.
Property offers peace and solitude. Enjoyed morning coffee watching the sun rise while the elk grazed. Such a memorable experience. Mary was very responsive to any questions and gave great recommendations!
Spent a 3-day weekend out in the Western Rockies and the Elk Cabin was a wonderful place to call home after spending the day in Glenwood Springs. Fun to hike the property and if you're a lover of dark skies, try to come out during a new moon 🌑 to experience the stars in their fullest. Or a full moon -- we were blown away by just how bright moonlight can be!!
My husband and our 2 dobermans had a wonderful experience! Mary & Terry's property is absolutely beautiful! It was so relaxing to watch the elk, the night sky, and gaze at the beautiful mountains. Our 2 dogs loved the property and enjoyed barking at the elk! The cabin is clean and so cute. Drive to glenwood springs is about 25 minutes. Mary gave us some local recommendations and even some elk steaks and ground meat! We cant wait to be back
Mary was very helpful and friendly making sure I knew my way to the property. The house was in good condition, clean and just what I'd hoped for. Brought the dogs, who were entranced watching and exploring everywhere. And true to the name, we had so many elk sightings. Breath-takingly peaceful! Can't wait to go again.
We love staying in unusual VRBOs and this did not disappoint! So fun to have morning coffee with elk.
This house is not far from I-70 but feels truly away from it all. It’s hard to take photos of the Rockies that are any good, but there are panoramic hills all around the property. It looks like some guests even ventured up in the winter.
The house is charming and unique with lovely cabin touches. Would definitely recommend.
This is an amazing property. It had just snowed so everything looked so serene. Elk greeted us on the front lawn! Fenced in yard for dogs plus a huge property to explore. Secluded and quiet yet within easy driving distance to town if need be. Hosts were amazing helping locate the cabin (we arrived at night in a snowstorm). Cabin was clean. Beds were comfy. Kitchen had everything we needed. I would definitely stay again.
My husband and I wanted to take the kids (18 yr old girl & 12 yr old boy) and explore Glenwood Canyon. We loved the idea of an off-grid cabin and thought it would be a fun experience. That is an understatement! From amazing views, magnificent sunsets and land to explore filled with elk herds - we couldn't have asked for a better place! We had so much fun exploring the property, gazing at the stars and being surprised as the elk herds appeared in various places including our back yard throughout our stay. Mary is a great hostess. Such amazing stories of this property and its history! Thanks Mary and Terri for sharing this beautiful, unique place for others to enjoy!

Why they chose this property
This cabin is for those special someone's who really want to get away from it all. You are completely secluded, with all the luxuries of home..you must be judicious with the power, and understand that there is a lot of responsibility with being in with the elk. BUT,,,,talk about a unique experience. You will love it... DOGS are free but must be crated or go with you.. or they will eat my curtains and break windows when the elk approach. If its hot, please check with me to house them in my basement. They are NOT allowed up hanging lake.. FYI>
What makes this property unique
Covered front porch, nice outside clawfoot tub for a sun shower, or a dog bath, private gazebo and complete solitude. Outside grill and fire pit, pull out couch and walk out grade Colorado red stone patio. Really nice and very very private.FREE WIFI NOW. It is slow. FYI.
