Delightful holiday cottage in a peaceful, rural location with stunning views
Situated in a peaceful, rural location between the pretty village of Dunkeld and the market town of Blairgowrie. Inchtuthill Coach House lies amidst beautiful Perthshire countryside within walking distance of the River Tay. The property is detached and has been converted forming a spacious open plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen and log burning stove. Double glass doors lead out to a modern wooden balcony, a great sun trap with spectacular views towards Birnam Hill (west facing). The property has two bedrooms (twin and double), a bathroom (with a modern shower) and a spacious hallway. A peaceful retreat in rural Perthshire with gorgeous views, the perfect place to unwind and enjoy rural Perthshire...
Inchtuthill Coach House lies a mile and half down a farm road, close to the village of Spittalfield. Dunkeld lies to the west just 15 mins by car and Blairgowrie to the east, again just 15 mins by car.
There are plenty of places to visit whether it be a country house such as Glamis Castle, Scone Palace or Blair Castle, perhaps you prefer something more adventurous, you can try white water rafting, quad biking or perhaps a spot of golf! If walking is more your cup of tea then there are endless walks in Perthshire from a gentle stroll at the Hermitage in Dunkeld, to bagging Munros (a munro is a hill/mountain over 3000ft). There are plenty of gentle walks from the cottage including a lovely riverside walk which is part of the core path network. You can also walk from the property into the village where there is a coffee shop serving delicious cakes and lunch! There is also an organic farm shop in the village.
The Coach House is the perfect retreat after a day exploring this wonderful part of Scotland, there is a log burning stove for the cooler evenings or if weather permits a glass of wine on the balcony watching the sun set over the Tay Valley.
When at Inchtuthill not only will you be able to enjoy glorious views, riverside walks and genuine peace and quiet but the surrounding area is renowned for a vast abundance wonderful wildlife including fallow and roe deer, birds of prey, hare and much much more...
Nearby Dunkeld lies on the River Tay and is famous for its beautiful cathedral, and riverside pubs - well worth a visit. There are plenty of coffee shops, a great deli (delivery available) and a fantastic bakery (Aran Bakery) selling delicious coffee, sandwiches, cakes galore and wonderful homemade bread! There is plenty more including two art galleries, craft and interior shops, a butcher, whisky shop and chemist. If you have children then you can take them to 'Going Potty' where they can paint their own piece of pottery to take home.

Great cottage for a nice quiet relaxing stay. The cottage is dog friendly and perfect for long walks with the pooch. The wildlife life in the area is great for watching especially the deer
Had a wonderful relaxing stay here. Great hosts who made sure your stay was comfortable and they were there if you needed any help or advice. First time using a log burner which was perfect for the cold winter nights. Great garden for our boxer dog. We saw deer every morning and the views were amazing. Great walks nearby and great plenty of things to do a short car ride away. Totallly loved the cottage, a home from home and just what we needed!
Very enjoyable.. Lovely peaceful location. Our dog really enjoyed himself having freedom to roam under guidance.Would come again, mobility permitting.. .The insert is everything the cottage is!
Great place to stay, lovely walks by the river with the dog, abundance of wildlife…deer, red squirrel, hares… will definitely stay again.

We were delighted to welcome you back! We are glad you love it as much as we do! March is also such a lovely time to visit - everything springing to life again! We look forward to seeing you again hopefully! 🙏
Nice property, good location, only downside was the sleepless nights from the rain dripping from the trees over hanging the bedroom on to the roof and skylights, so loud it kept us awake a couple of nights.

Thank you so much for your review. We’re really sorry to hear that the sound of the rain disrupted your sleep—Mother Nature was certainly in full force during your stay! It’s always a bit of a surprise after such a long dry spell, and it’s a shame it happened while you were with us. That said, we’re delighted you enjoyed the property and its beautiful surroundings. We hope the River Tay provided some memorable moments and successful fishing, rain or shine!
This is our second time staying and it was even more amazing than the first! Cannot fault this place, absolutely gorgeous location, beautiful spotless home with all the amenities you could possibly need. We were lucky to have lovely weather so just sitting on the balcony listening to the birds was absolute bliss! Hosts were wonderful and friendly, thank you for everything!

An absolutely beautiful cottage with exceptional views looking over the countryside. Accommodation located off the main road so lovely and peaceful but within a short travelling distance to local amenities, which include some impressive places to eat. Hosts were warm and welcoming with lots of local knowledge. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
Nice rural retreat, good location for surrounding towns and villages. Good local walks along the river Tay accessed from the property, wihout having to all the time.

About the host

My family and I moved to Perthshire in 2003 from Wiltshire in England. The Coach House is very much a family run business. We love being able to share the incredible surroundings and wildlife - Inchtuthill is an incredibly special place.
Why they chose this property
The views, the peace and quiet and the open space! The property is secluded with stunning views across the Tay Valley towards Birnam Hill. The location is ideal being just over an hour from Edinburgh, 25 minutes from Perth and just 15 minutes from Dunkeld which we love so much!
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with the property for it's location. A hidden gem in rural Perthshire! The views and character of the property also helped! Just driving down to the property you are embarking on a 'wee' Scottish Wildlife Safari! Regularly you will see deer, hare, buzzards and the occasional red squirrel! It is always a good idea to have your camera ready. The bird life is also amazing. Inchtuthill is named after the Roman Fort (Inchtuthill), behind the property is an old Roman look out point (not much to see but fascinating). Just over a mile away lie the remains of the Roman Fort, Inchtuthill. There is not much to see but interesting to imagine how it once was! You can read about Inchtuthill on Google. The river Tay is just 10 minutes from the property.
