About this property

Cabin for 6 · Hot Tub · Fire Pit · Dogs OK

Sherwood is a cabin for six with a little more flexibility than most. Two king bedrooms — one on the main floor, one on the lower level — plus a queen murphy bed in the lower level living area for however the group decides to sort itself out.

Named for Sherwood Anderson — the Ohio writer behind Winesburg, Ohio, who understood that the quieter moments are usually the ones worth remembering — it's one of four cabins at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville.

⭐ What You'll Love
• Two full king bedrooms plus a murphy bed that makes the lower level work for however your group is configured
• A lower level built for the long evening — game table, arcade machine, 65" Smart TV
• Covered hot tub off the lower level, ready in any weather
• Fire pit that earns its keep once the sun goes down
• The shared game room just a short walk across the property — pool table, arcade, 85" TV, and more

🌲 Outside
• Covered deck off the main floor with seating
• Fire pit for s’mores, stargazing, and evening conversations (firewood on site)
• Personal hot tub off the lower level — covered, so it works in any weather
• Propane grill with tools

🏠 Sleeping
• Main floor: king bedroom
• Lower level: king bedroom
• Lower level: queen murphy bed in the living area
• Pack 'n play available on site — just give us a heads up. Sheets not included, so bring your own if needed.

🍳 Main Floor
Open concept kitchen, living, and dining — the kind of layout where whoever's cooking is still part of the conversation. Bluetooth speaker for the background noise. Full kitchen with everything you need to cook a real meal. Seating for 2 at the island and table seating for 4.
• A heads up: no garbage disposal or dishwasher.
• Kitchen stocked with the basics to get you started — salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, foil, and cooking spray.

🚿 Bathrooms
Two full bathrooms with showers — one on the main floor, one on the lower level.

🎮 Lower Level
• King bedroom
• Queen murphy bed in the living area — adults only please, not for use by children
• Living area with 65" Smart TV
• Arcade machine
• Game table

🐾 Dogs Welcome
Up to 2 dogs allowed per stay. Dogs must remain leashed on the property and off the furniture. A $100 pet fee applies per stay.

🏡 The Shared Game Room

• 85" Smart TV
• Pool table
• Foosball
• Basketball arcade
• Classic arcade machines and a racing game
• Legos, card and board games, indoor cornhole
• Plus an outdoor playground for the kids (big and small)

🧴 What's Here When You Arrive
Every bathroom comes stocked with the good stuff — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. One less thing to remember when you're packing for the weekend.

We provide a starter kit of the essentials — 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, a kitchen sponge, and trash liners. We recommend bringing a little extra just in case.

🗺️ What's Nearby
Notestone Reserve sits in the heart of the Hocking Hills, close enough to hit two or three trails in a day and still be back in time for the fire pit.

Rock House — 7 minutes
Conkle's Hollow — 15 minutes
Old Man's Cave — 20 minutes
Ash Cave — 26 minutes

Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and the rest of the state park system are all within a short drive as well.

📶 About the WiFi
WiFi is included, but satellite internet in Hocking Hills has its limits. Most guests find the inconsistency easier to accept once they're in the hot tub. We aren't able to issue refunds for WiFi interruptions.

🌿 A Note on the Setting
We're in a wooded area, and while we stay on top of regular pest control, the occasional ladybug or curious spider showing up is just nature doing its thing.

📋 A Few House Rules
We're a small, family-owned operation, and keeping Notestone calm and well-kept is a group effort. A few things we ask:
• No parties or events, including bachelor/bachelorette groups. And no glitter — it never, ever goes away.
• Only registered guests on the property
• No smoking, vaping, fireworks, ATVs, hunting, or weapons
• No commercial photography or videography without written approval
• Hot tub: use the striped towels provided and keep the cover on between soaks
• Murphy bed to be operated by adults only
• Septic-safe: flush toilet paper only; no garbage disposal at the sink
• 4WD/AWD recommended during winter months
• Check-in: 4:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM

✏️ Before You Arrive
All guests sign a simple renter agreement once you book. We'll send it over — quick, painless, and it helps us take good care of you and everyone else on the property.

Had to reschedule our trip due to “snowmageddon”. We ended up adding an additional day onto our stay. The host is fantastic and the property is great!

Hi, I'm Stacey — one of the founders of Notestone Reserve, and the person who's been hands-on in shaping every space on the property.

Restoration is something I think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, arranged with care, can turn into something magnificent. Stained glass works that way. So does Notestone.

This property started as a vision and a lot of hard work. What it is now — ten units across 14 acres in the heart of Hocking Hills, each one named for a writer who paid attention to the world around them — is the result of believing that where you rest matters.

Every detail reflects what I personally look for when I travel: comfort without pretense, nature without roughing it. The kind of place where memories get made without trying — and you leave with a story worth telling.

I'm proud of what we've built. And I'd love to have you here.

Welcome to Notestone Reserve.

What makes this property unique

Sherwood is a cabin for six with two king bedrooms, a queen murphy bed, and a lower level that gives the group somewhere to land — game table, arcade machine, 65" TV. Flexible enough for however your group sorts itself out, with a covered hot tub and fire pit waiting outside.

As a Notestone Reserve guest you'll also have access to our shared community game room — pool table, basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a TV lounge. Most nights it's all yours. It's the kind of bonus that turns a rainy afternoon into the highlight of the trip.

Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, right in the heart of Hocking Hills — an Ohio writer's backyard, and some of the best hiking in the state. Close enough to the trails to make a day of it, quiet enough that the evenings feel earned.
