We’re Kirk and Anne-Marie, originally from Warrington in the UK, and we now run Les Rouges Terres Gites here in the beautiful Normandy countryside.

Before moving to France, we spent many years running our own pub, where hospitality, good food, and making people feel at home were at the heart of everything we did. Kirk is a chef by trade, so food and welcoming guests have always been a big part of our lives.

We made the move to Normandy with our two children to enjoy a different pace of life and to create a peaceful place where others can do the same. Today, we take great pride in offering comfortable, well-cared-for gîtes where guests can relax, explore, and feel completely at home.

Whether you need local recommendations, help settling in, or simply prefer privacy during your stay, we’re always nearby if you need us.

Why they chose this property

We chose this corner of Normandy for its rare combination of peace, space, and accessibility. Set in the countryside near Bayeux, it offers a true sense of escape while still being close to historic towns, local markets, and the famous D-Day coastline.

The area has a gentle, unspoilt charm — rolling farmland, quiet lanes, and wide open skies — yet you’re never far from great restaurants, bakeries, and places to explore. It’s a place where life naturally slows down, but there’s always something interesting just a short drive away.

For us, it felt like the perfect balance: a calm, rural setting to relax and recharge, with Normandy’s rich history, coastline, and culture right on the doorstep. It’s exactly the kind of place we would choose for a holiday ourselves — and that’s why we decided to make it home.

What makes this property unique

What makes Les Rouges Terres Gites different is the combination of space, privacy, and thoughtful hospitality.

Set within 7 acres of peaceful Normandy countryside, each gîte offers its own private space while also benefiting from shared open gardens, giving guests both seclusion and freedom to relax outdoors. It’s rare to find this much land so close to Bayeux and the D-Day coastline.

Each property has been carefully renovated to balance modern comfort with character, creating bright, welcoming spaces that feel like a home rather than a holiday rental. Whether you’re staying as a couple, a family, or travelling with dogs, everything has been designed to make your stay easy and comfortable.

Our background in hospitality shapes everything we do. With years of experience running a pub in the UK, we understand what makes a stay enjoyable — from comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchens to the small details that make guests feel genuinely welcome. Kirk, a trained chef, also brings a strong focus on comfort, food, and practicality in every property.

We also offer something many rural stays don’t: choice. Whether you want a romantic retreat with a private hot tub, a family-friendly cottage with space to play, or a larger gîte for groups, guests can choose the style of stay that suits them — all in the same peaceful location.

Above all, we focus on giving guests space to slow down, relax, and enjoy Normandy at their own pace.
