About this property

Private Waterfront Access, 1890s Cottage, Thoughtfully Renovated, Curated Design

The Ledge House on Lowell’s Cove is a thoughtfully restored waterfront home designed for meaningful gatherings - whether that’s an extended family, two+ families traveling together, or a group seeking time and space to truly connect.

Set directly above the water in Harpswell, the house offers expansive views across the cove, direct access to the shoreline below, and a sense of calm that comes from being surrounded by water, trees, and a year-round coastal community. Inside, classic Maine character - warm woods, coastal tones, and natural textures - is paired with modern comforts that make longer stays effortless.

This is a home that feels welcoming rather than precious.
Adults settle in easily with first-floor living and a first-floor primary bedroom with an attached shared bathroom. Meals and conversations naturally gather around the large custom dining table, while the kitchen becomes a place to cook, linger, and share a glass of wine. Children have room to explore - rolling down the hill, searching for seashells, or splashing along the shallow edge of the cove.

Days unfold with morning walks, reading, games, time by the water, or seeking out Harpswell's best lobster roll. Evenings bring everyone back together for shared meals and conversation, with a thoughtfully designed outdoor seating area and firepit creating a natural place to linger as the light fades. *Pictures of outside areas coming soon. Please note that due to extensive plumbing related updates from January, the lawn areas, while heavily seeded, will be patchy and still filling in for the 2026 season.*

The Ledge House is well suited for summer weeks, crisp fall escapes, cozy winter gatherings, and spring reunions. Every detail has been considered to support meaningful family and multi-family time - without clutter, fuss, or formality.

Our group loved everything about this house, and we’re all still talking about it. First of all, it is set up wonderfully - really good bed linens and towels, an awesomely equipped kitchen, that wonderful coffee/tea area, the lovely toiletries in the baths (including bath crayons and rubber duckies for the littles), the little surprises left for us like some local chocolates, and gorgeous rhododendrons placed in a vase.Kristin was extremely easy and super pleasant to communicate with. The guest handbook is the best I’ve ever seen, listing places to eat and get provisions, and ideas for daily excursions. The real star of this rental is the view to the cove from the back porch. Day and night we enjoyed sitting on rockers, listing to the birds and the waves in the distance. We loved this part of mid-coast Maine - a little removed from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor, but still easy to drive there, as well as to Portland, Brunswick, and Bath. However, we were very happy enjoying the seafood restaurants, trails, and beach areas nearby. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. You’ve raised the bar for us on what to expect from a Maine coastal rental, and we would love to come back.
