We all absolutely love this home! It was clean well equipped with everything you need. The grounds are beautiful and the pool was spectacular. This was an oasis a very private location. Keep in mind you must drive to the beach or take bikes.. we would definitely rent this home again

Very nice villa

We had a wonderful stay at this very nice and clean villa with a wonderful pool. The hosts were extremely kind and service-minded and took good care of us. The villa is remotely situated. So if you're looking for relaxing times with friends or family around the pool the place is perfect. But don't expect shopping and restaurants just around the corner.

Lovely property in a village straight from a novel

If you want peaceful then this is your place. The villa was lovely the outdoor space fantastic. The host could not have been welcoming or helpful giving us recommendations for eateries and activities including wine tasting. The location is more remote a beautiful beach and bar are a 10 minute cycle but the nearest town is a 10 minute drive. It is around 30 minutes drive from Noto which is beautiful.

Good location, great host

Host Giuseppe was very attentive and quick to respond to messages. Villa was lovely, pool and pool/summer house newly built and really nice. Had an issue with hot water, Giuseppe came round and couldn't fix it, called a plumber and all sorted within a few short hours. Some beautiful villages within 20-30 minute drive, more beautiful places further away if you're prepared to drive that little bit further. Good supermarkets within 15 mins drive, little shops within a 3 mins drive which provide everything you need in an emergency or just for fresh bread in the morning.

Fully kitted out house, wonderful pool, extremely attentive host.

My husband, our 3 and 6 yr old daughters and I had a fantastic stay at Villa Ruta at the beginning of April. Probably partly because Giuseppe and his family have lived there and obviously enjoyed it themselves, it is fully kitted out with everything you could need and more: cooking utensils, outside wood burning pizza oven, barbeque, television, swimming equipment etc. Big television, peaceful at night, the only negative about the house would be that the mattresses were too hard for our tastes. Although our children were too young to use them, there are bikes to use, exercise and diving equipment in the garage, for example. Gorgeous pool, that I enjoyed so much, even if it wasn't always the warmest weather or water. Warm enough for us! Again, maybe better for slightly older children because the shallow end is too deep for little ones to stand, but it didn't stop ours from loving it once they had arm bands etc. Great location for visits to Noto, Modica, and Syracuse, wonderful coastline 2 mins away, with lots of restaurants all along the coast, big supermarket 15 mins away, small one 2 mins away. What we were particularly impressed by was the attentiveness and generosity of Giuseppe as a host. We arrived to a complementary table of bread, ricotta, olives etc, a bottle of wine. Although he's in New York, he answered all our queries immediately and thoroughly, and went out of his way to accommodate us. Our youngest daughter was ill, and he was quick to make arrangements to have a doctor brought to us if need be. Although it wasn't needed, it was a real relief to know it was possible.

A wonderful introduction to Sicily

A delightful house and surroundings, well equipped and with a wonderful pool and pizza oven. Our three grown up sons greatly enjoyed. A wonderful meal awaited us on our arrival. All the facilities and equipment were at our disposal. We toured over the south-east of the island, to the north side of Etna and westward to Agrigentum, all within a week.Giuseppe, the owner, responded rapidly to questions, and gave wonderful advice about eating well. A great relaxing break in an intriguing setting.

Very disappointing

I feel this property is completely mis-sold. It is small and cramped and extremely basic. The pool is not heated above 18 degrees, which is cold. The heaters in the house don’t work. There is one rather scruffy shower room and three cramped bedrooms. No surprise there is no photo of the shower room. There is a shower room in the garden but looks out of use and a large speaker was being stored in it. On the first floor there is a single, a twin and a double. The beds are very hard. There is one small sofa for two in the lounge. It was advertised as having a kayak but there was no sign of this. There was no pump for one of the bikes so it couldn’t be used. It isn’t horrible, but it is described as a dream house. We found it to be a nightmare holiday because the house was so disappointing and have cancelled a future booking with HomeAway because of our loss of confidence in the reviews and house descriptions.

Wonderful family holiday in homely villa

My family and I had the most wonderful week at villa Ruta. From arrival we were made to feel at home and like one of the locals. We spent many evenings dining outside and our son loved the pool. The villa is a short distance by car to many lovely beaches and towns. We enjoyed exploring each day but were always happy to come home to the pool and cool villa. Would highly recommend for a relaxed holiday with family/friends!

Comfortable and cozy villa!

We had a wonderful family vacation at Giuseppe's beautiful villa! It is so comfortable and so thoughtfully built. We enjoyed the terrace and the summer kitchen every day! Our little kids had lots of fun in the spacious pool and roomy front yard. I've personally been impressed by the multitude of personal touches and artsy details of the villa. Both Giuseppe and Segnora Carmela ensured we had a comfortable stay and were incredibly easy to stay in touch with. Giuseppe gave us so many wonderful advices on restaurants, markets and beaches! We were sad to leave the house...but we're so grateful for the opportunity to spend quality time there and we wish everyone else a great time at Villa Ruta!

Fantastic break away

We all loved the villa, it was spotless when we arrived, with a lovely welcome spread. It felt like home, so we instantly relaxed. We enjoyed the pool every day, which is a good size, big enough for general playing as well as swimming a few lengths. We had a few days exploring the area, and found some great restaurants.

Lovely home in southeast Sicily - Near the beach and easy driving distance to Modica, Noto, Syracuse

We are a family of 4 with two small children and really enjoyed our stay in the Ruta Villa. The house is impeccably clean. I've seriously never seen a cleaner house. The housekeeper deserves an award. We especially enjoyed the outdoor space. There is a hammock, outdoor dining room and kitchen and a variety of lounging spaces around the pool. We also appreciated that the pool can be completely closed off for the safety of young children. The bathroom with direct access to the pool is also a nice touch. One of the most memorable moments was the lovely spread of local food that was awaiting us on arrival. The fresh local ricotta was unbelievable. On a practical level, this was important as well because we arrived on a Sunday night when most shops (and many local restaurants) were closed. It's hard to find any flaws in this home. The beds were definitely on the far end of the firm scale, which may not be everyone's preference. Also, the pool heater wasn't working while we were there, so being mid-October we weren't able to enjoy the pool (even though the outside temp was still lovely). The owner was very apologetic and tried everything he could to get it resolved. The villa itself is situated amongst farmland. We very much enjoyed the quiet, rural feel. A lovely beach is within a 3 minute drive (or you can use the provided bikes). Several good restaurants from low- to high-end are within a short driving distance. I really think this home is a great location to explore southeast Sicily with short drives to some amazing cities and sites to explore.

A wonderful place for a holiday!

Spent a week here with my family and couldn't have been happier. It is great to stay in a place that is a real family home and not just an anonymous rental property -- it is really comfortable and well equipped for cooking and dining. The pool is big and gorgeous and there are plenty of loungers and armchairs as well as a shady hammock for the heat of the day. We spent many happy hours round the table on the terrace next to the outdoor kitchen -- a fantastic place to cook and eat. The nearby beach is sandy and perfect for a swim, and there are plenty of other beaches to explore. The towns round about, especially Noto, are perfect for an evening of promenading and ice cream. Finally, the villa was beautifully prepared for our arrival, with masses of food and drink, which made us feel very welcome. All in all, I recommend this villa very highly indeed.

Wir haben im Juni in dieser Villa 2 Wochen verbracht und uns dabei sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und gut ausgestattet, bietet reichlich Platz, Ausstattung und eine gute Atmosphäre, sich zu erholen. Die Außenveranda samt Küche ist ein herrlicher Ort, um in den lauen Abenden dort lange zu verweilen – aber Vorsicht: Vorsorge gegen Mücken treffen  Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter per E-Mail in Englisch ist völlig unproblematisch. Er antwortet sehr schnell und ist bei Problemen schnell dabei, über seine örtliche Vertreterin Frau Camela, die ebenfalls sehr hilfreich und nett ist, diese zu lösen. Volle 5 Sterne können wir wegen kleiner „Mängel“ leider nicht geben: - Frau Camela spricht ausschließlich Italienisch, insoweit ist die Einweisung in das Haus sowie Hilfe bei Problemen etwas schwierig - die Fahrräder waren in einen ungepflegtem Zustand, letztendlich konnten wir nur 2 benutzen - ein Sonnensegel oder -schirm für die Liegen am Pool war nicht vorhanden, daher konnte man dort sich nur unter dem Baldachin in den Schatten setzen - über wohl vereinbarte Termine mit einer Poolreinigungsfirma waren wir nicht informiert; einmal wurde der Pool bei unserer ganztägigen Ausflugsfahrt gereinigt und vom Poolreiniger die Alarmanlage aktiviert, so dass diese beim Betreten des Hauses auslöste und von uns auch nicht abgeschaltet werden konnte; nur ein Anruf bei Frau Camela löste das Problem - trotz Satellitenempfangs waren nur italienische Programme verfügbar. Wir können das Haus gerne sehr empfehlen, wenn man einen ruhigen Urlaub abseits jeder Touristenhochburg verbringen möchte.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus mit allem was man zum Erholen braucht.

Die 'Villa Ruta' bietet alles, was man für einen erholsamen komfortablen Urlaub braucht. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und dennoch in Strandnähe (3 Minuten Fahrt). Sehr einladend ist die überdachte Terasse mit eigener Küche. Der Pool ist sehr gross.

Fabulous stay on Sicily Island !

Being on holiday we had a perfect stay in amazing Villa Ruta in the South-East of Sicily Island. The whole property is great and more than well equipped. Two full equipped kitchen (one outside), three bathrooms (one outside, one on the ground floor, and one on the first floor where the bedrooms are) and three bedrooms (all air conditioned). We enjoyed being there very much. Together with our 3 ½ year old daughter we loved having breakfast in the morning, and pizza or pasta outside on the terrace in the evening. Swimming in the pool (it's really a huge and clean pool) was great every time. For our little one it was a dream coming true as the choice of pool toys was unbelievable. Even a big Orca and a rubber boat were available. The open air shower made things very easy and comfortable – changing clothes for our little daughter or for us after swimming in the evening. We also had great moments at the beach which is only a stone’s throw away from the house. Exploring southern and eastern Sicily was quite easy and enjoyable as well, the house is placed on such a spot, that it's most easy to travel around (Syracuse, Catania, Taormina, Etna area, … etc.). We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Ruta - it surpassed our expectations and we felt instantly at home from the moment on we walked in. The complex is lovely and highly recommendable, it is the perfect place to stay on Sicily Island. Many thanks to Giuseppe (owner of the property) and Signora Carmela (housekeeper) for this very marvelous holiday and all the support we had before, during and after our holiday. Traum Haus

Wir waren Anfang Oktober zu Gast in diesem tollen Haus. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Herbst, die Temperaturen waren nie unter 25 C°. Zum Vermieter können wir nur positives berichten. Die Familie hat sich um die Hausübergabe, durch ihre Haushälterin gekümmert und uns reichlich Tipps im Vorfeld über die Örtlichkeiten wie Strand, Restaurant Einkaufsmöglichkeiten etc. gegeben. Der Kontakt war sehr gut, es wurde immer zeitnah auf unsere Mails geantwortet, der Vermieter kann ausgezeichnet Englisch. Das Haus, ist wie beschrieben. Wir waren begeistert, die große Poolanlage und das sehr gefelgte Grundstück waren super. Die Außenküche lädt zu langen Kocharien ein, es ist alles vorhanden was man sich wünschen kann vom Piazzabackofen bis zum Grill, auch Küchenutensilien sind reichlich vorhanden, wir hatten sogar Gewürze vorgefunden. Im Haus gibt es im Untergeschoss eine weitere komplett ausgestattet Küche, ein extra WC mit Waschmaschine und Trockner. Ein schönes Wohnzimmer mit Kamin, offen zur Küche. Im Obergeschosse ein Elternschlafzimmer mit Doppelbett, ein Kinderschlafzimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten und eins mit einem Einzelbett und ein hübsches Bad mit Dusche. Auch am Pool gibt es nochmals ein Bad mit Dusche und WC und eine extra angelegte Außendusche. Es gibt für die Kinder Poolspielsachen mehrere Liege- und Sitzecken, sowie eine Große Veranda. Es ist einfach alles da und wie schon beschrieben mehrfach! Die Region ist zu dieser Zeit fast Touristen lehr. Bei einem kleinen Kaufladen, zu Fuß 5 min, können sie alles frisch kaufen, oder in einer viertel Stunde zum Supermarkt fahren. Der Strand ist in fünf Minuten zu erreichen. Wir sind aber lieber eine halbe Stunde mit dem Auto zur Cala Mosche gefahren, sie ist traumhaft. Der Fischerort Marzameni in der Nähe hat uns sehr gut gefallen, da man hier wunderschön auf dem Dorfplatz sitzen kann, es gibt die unterschiedlichsten Restaurants. Wir waren 11 Tage auf Sizilien und waren erst in Taormina welches wir sehr empfehlen können. Wir sind entlang der Südküste gefahren und haben uns viele Städte angesehen, es gibt viel zu viele Sehenswürdigkeiten um alle hier zu erwähnen. Beeindruckend waren wir auch von unserer Wanderung auf dem Ätna. Wir sind über all sehr freundlich empfangen wurden. Wir danken nochmals der Haushälterin, sowie dem Besitzer für eine perfekte Woche, in einem wirklich perfekten Haus! DANKE

This area is very special to us. It's incredibly pristine, with a peaceful atmosphere that's a world away from the bustling tourist crowds. We love being able to escape the hustle and bustle and truly unwind here. The beaches are pristine, the water is crystal clear, and the natural landscapes are simply breathtaking.

What makes this property unique

This house is as comfortable as they come, and it's perfectly located near everything we love. Morning swims in the turquoise water, leisurely lunches at charming seaside restaurants, exploring ancient ruins in historic towns... it's all right at our doorstep. We're passionate about hiking and biking, and this area offers incredible trails with stunning views. Discovering hidden coves, picnicking among vineyards, and ending the day with a glass of local wine – it's the perfect balance of activity and relaxation.

On the same time, we didn't want to give up on our privacy when just relaxing. This villa offers the perfect sanctuary, where we can truly disconnect and recharge. After years of dreaming, this house has become our haven. It's where we come to escape, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories with loved ones.
