Lovely lake home well cared for

Really enjoyed our time at Big Bass lake in the Blue Heron cabin. Plenty of space for all, and plenty of things to do. Firepit, grill, dock, all within a stone's throw, and Lake Bemidji with its many hiking trails just a few minutes away. Worked out well for our family including two little boys ages 4 and 8 but we did take care to stash away some of the more breakable decorations.

Family vacation fun

We really enjoyed our stay here so much, such a beautiful place inside and out right on the lake. It was roomy and comfortable for our big family, just the right combination of homey and elegant. Ideal for a week vacation up north! Peter was great to work with too. I highly recommend staying here!

Well stocked

This was a wonderful home for our family reunion. It was extremely well stocked with essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, soap etc. The kitchen had an amazing supply of dishes, pots and pans. It was a very private location on a wonderful lake. The fishing was amazing, even the 2 year old was catching fish from the dock.

Family escape

My wife, our two teens, and my parents spent a wonderful week on the lake. The cabin was everything I wanted it to be, rustic yet elegant, spacious, and very comfortable. We spent time on the lake everyday, wither fishing or putting around in the boat. We would have loved to spend more time! Hopefully, we'll be able to get back again.

Return guests

Eagles, Loons, good fishing, beautiful sunsets and family memories that will last forever. Had a hammock camp outside the north deck and relaxation surrounded us. Our 2nd stay didn't disappoint. This lake is a quiet slice of heaven.

Great Up North Experience

We had a 4-generation group and had a great time. My grandma loved that the cabin was so close to the water. She could sit out on the deck and enjoy it. My young son had fun splashing around in the lake. We did lots of fishing, and even explored the nearby Paul Bunyan trail. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It's close enough to Bemidji that you can take advantage of the area (Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, Itaska State Park, easy access to grocery stores), but also secluded enough that you get a chance to feel away from it all. We really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful vacation home

We were very pleased with this property and had a lovely vacation. The cottage is traditional but has modern conveniences, it's right on the lake, and it has a lovely wooded site. The main cottage is even nicer and more spacious than it appears in the photos. The kitchen is very well-equipped. The cottage & guest cabin are private and situated on a large property, covered with trees and bushes. To the south, the neighbouring cottage and its dock are a good distance away. To the north, there are no other cottages within sight. There is a very long, curvy driveway, so there is no traffic whatsoever. The lake is small but pleasant and full of fish. We enjoyed swimming and canoeing. We enjoyed the golf course and a state park (both 10 minutes away).

Perfect family retreat!

We needed a place for my family of 14, ages 18mo-63 yrs to gather for a few days making memories. This place couldn't have met our expectations better. It has all the amenities stocked-laundry a big plus!! Even though there wasn't 14 beds, there was plenty of spaces for the little ones to sleep. The fishing off the dock was amazing with fish caught at 7am to almost 10pm. Even though there isn't a beach, we swam, canoed and floated in the lake all day. We saw loons and eagles seen daily. We felt secluded from neighbors and lived out on the deck basking in Gods creation & found it easy to watch the little ones. Free Wifi saved the teenagers itch and the selfie sticks were in full use. The chickadee could easily be a honeymoon getaway! Highly recommend this if you need a place for multiple aged families. We will be returning again for more memories next year.

Exceeded our expectations!

Our family could not have been happier with the accommodations! The cabin, view, lake and location were perfect! Fishing, boating and tubing were all great. This will be booked on our calendar each year! If you are looking for relaxation, fun, and family time, this is the place to be!

GREAT FISHING - GREAT VIEW

Our family had an enjoyable stay at this nice home on Big Bass Lake ! The fishing was good and the view was fantastic, as it is right on the lake and you could fish from the deck of the home if you wanted. Nice dock for your boat and home is well decorated and clean. There is also a guest cabin that sleeps four quite easily. The owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had and we would recommend this to any large or small family for a quiet get-away. Family Oasis

This home was absolutely perfect ! The large porch, large windows, large kitchen, watching and listening to the loons, the fishing was great and if you are at all a golf fan you will love all the memorabilia. The home was perfect for our large family! If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting we would highly recommend this home!!

I am a Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking with Associated Bank in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Our family grew up in Grand Forks, ND and spent summers growing up on Big Bass Lake. Needless to say, my sisters, cousins and I spent countless hours on the lake swimming, waterskiing, boating, fishing and golfing at the nearby country club. We absolutely love 'The Lake' and hope you will too.

Why they chose this property

For me, it is the overall ambiance of the cabin and the property that sets it apart. The main cabin is right on the water and we keep the surroundings very natural with the woods coming right up to the cabin. The small 2-bedroom guest cabin is a nice feature as well. The guest cabin has its own bathroom, stovetop and deck and is a great place for noisy teenagers to stay (or adults seeking a quiet escape from the main cabin). Lastly, the front deck is a great slightly elevated perch to watch your children swimming, fishing and boating.
