Welcome to your private retreat in the La Jolla hills! This brand-new 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home offers a perfect blend of modern luxury and peaceful living. Tucked away in a serene setting, this home provides the privacy you crave while being close to beaches, dining, and shopping. Included are street parking, washer, dryer, air conditioning and fans. Fewer than 10 minutes to La Jolla Village, Bird Rock and Pacific Beach. 20 minutes to downtown and San Diego Airport. Lastly, we have not had any complaints, but please know you may hear young kids who live in the home below. Thank you!

Several factors that affected such rating: The property description is described as a “Brand new La Jolla Home.” This property is falsely advertised as it is an in-law unit attached to the main home above their home garage. It more closely resembles a small attached studio with two small bedrooms. Secondly, The check-in process did not follow as described on the listing. I had to prompt the owner just hours before check-in for both the door code, parking instructions, and wifi information. Luckily they were prompt to communicate via Vrbo’s messaging feature. The biggest issue concerned the plumbing and overall cleaning process. The shower drain never circulated water as it was completely clogged, creating an instant pool of remaining others shower “contents” and residual stagnation. This resulted in my having to forgo hair washing for two days after just 3 minutes of using the shower due to it being moments away from running over and causing the bathroom to flood. This suggests that either the shower itself is rarely thoroughly cleaned given how fast it filled which was instantly visible and also that the unit was in fact far more used than the falsely advertised “Brand New” description where hair and other remnants were fully backed up. The owner ended up clearing the drain upon request. Overall would not recommend based on the above facts alone and for nearly 450.00/night this was not worth the price point in my personal opinion.

I strive to provide an exceptional experience for every guest, so it was disheartening to see a 4-star rating. Because I feel a few points in your review may be based on a misunderstanding, I would love to share a bit of context: Property Status: The home was fully completed and furnished in April/May of this year. Everything from the construction to the appliances and plumbing are completely brand new. Property Layout: We refer to the listing as a "home" because we feel it provides a premium, cozy residential experience that standard terms like apartment or ADU don't quite capture. Our photos show that it is attached to the main property, we do represent that is detached or standalone, and all listed square footage, bedroom, and bathroom counts are entirely accurate. Check-In & Stay Logistics: For our guests' safety, we generate unique, secure entry codes for every stay. We also purposefully keep check-out seamless with no demanding chores, and off-street parking is readily available, which is stated in the listing. The Shower Drain: I genuinely apologize for the drain backup during your stay. To clarify, the issue was not due to old plumbing or poor cleaning. There is a specialized catch-filter beneath the drain cover designed to protect the system and catch lost items like jewelry. Because it requires tools to open, it is hidden from view, and our cleaners were unaware it needed an early clear-out. Resolution Timing: I want to gently clarify that as soon as you notified me of the issue, I offered to address it immediately, and the drain was resolved within hours of receiving the request. I believe you mentioned the back up started earlier but I am unable to address any issues if I do not know about them. I always aim to be incredibly responsive to guest needs. Pricing: While I understand travel platforms add separate booking fees and taxes that increase your out-of-pocket total, the actual nightly rate received on our end was $288, not $450.
