A perfect alternative to European beach destinations without long flights and connections. Bask in the Mediterranean climate, stroll village streets lined with shops, restaurants, and art galleries. About the host
Hosted by Jim Sanford

I purchased the house in 1989 and have continuously updated since then. The home had been in vacation rental for periods (when traveling for work) since 2003 and for most of that period Barb (who lives in the unit in back) and I worked together to manage "The Pottery Barn House" with the goal of providing a superior guest experience for enjoying the home while vacationing in La Jolla. The home is now managed by San Diego Vacation Rentals, a Premiere Host with VRBO. (San Diego TAT tax of 10.5% applies to stays 30 nights or less)..Long term rates/ lease still available. Contact through "ask owner a question" .
Originally from the Midwest ( Champaign, IL),I went to college in Indiana (De Pauw University), graduate school in Chicago ( University of Illinois) and ended up in San Diego. I remain quite active, my main hobby is swimming, both pool and ocean which I do daily, along with gym workouts on campus at UCSD and running. I enjoy travel, when time permits and visits to Maui, where I lived for 2 years and still have a condo (VRBO/61838!).

Why they chose this property
This has been my home since 1989. I have traveled all over the world and would not trade this for anything! La Jolla truly is a gem that fortunately is still somewhat untouched from masses of tourists. The location, weather, and available activities are uncomparable world wide. The home is one of the older beach homes remaining in the area and is very well maintained with large yards, front and back. These homes unfortunately are disappearing in the area as older home are built out in condo style development. If you are looking for a little character and appreciate the privacy and space of a traditional yard , this is the house for you.
What makes this property unique
Again, La Jolla is unbeatable for location, weather and activities. Summer in La Jolla is like being on the French, Italian, or Spanish Riviera without the crowds! The house is older, well maintained, traditional , with privacy and large front and back yards. As with all houses, you avoid the congestion and risks of large hotel complexes in urban areas.
