Welcome to the Lower Vogelsberg region at the Alte Schule Wettges, idyllically situated in the 80-resident hamlet of Birstein, surrounded by green meadows and forests, offering a beautiful panoramic view, and located directly on the Vogelsberg Südbahn Bike Trail.<br><br>Our historic, listed building—recently renovated—is situated in a quiet location and features a large, cosy garden with seating and barbecue facilities, free Wi-Fi, and parking spaces right next to the house.<br><br>On the ground floor, the Schulhaus features two bedrooms, each with a double bed, a bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a large living room with a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings. Here you’ll also find the new and very well-equipped kitchen, which is perfect for a leisurely breakfast or cooking together in the evenings, a large dining table, and a living area with a couch and a TV. <br><br>On the second floor (attic), there is a bedroom with a double bed and a pull-out double bed. If both beds are in use, they can be separated by a curtain for a bit more privacy. The apartment also features a bathroom with a shower and toilet, as well as a living area with a large glass front that offers a fantastic distant view, especially at sunrise. Here, too, you’ll find a new and very well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, a dining table, a couch, and a TV. The couch can be used as a sleeper sofa if needed. <br><br>The ground floor features a bedroom with a double bed and a pull-out double bed, which can be separated by a curtain to provide more privacy. There is also a private bathroom on the ground floor. For sports activities, we have 4 bicycles, a badminton set, bocce, and a ping-pong table available for you. There’s also plenty of lockable storage space for your own bicycles. Our covered outdoor seating area with a gas grill in the schoolyard is perfect for a social barbecue evening. If you’d like to wind down the day outdoors with a good book, conversation, or a drink, why not make yourself comfortable in our “philosopher’s cottage”? By arrangement and weather permitting, you can also enjoy a campfire in the fire pit in the garden. If you’d like to spend the night in the garden, a rustic shepherd’s wagon is available for one person by arrangement. <br><br><br>Marked hiking trails and the Vogelsberg Südbahn Bike Path—connected to an extensive network of bike paths—are right on our doorstep. For example, combine your bike ride with a dip in one of the swimming lakes or at the outdoor pool; explore small medieval towns in the region; conquer the hills of the Hoher Vogelsberg Nature Park; and refuel along the way at one of the cafes or restaurants along the route. Children, for example, are sure to especially enjoy the summer toboggan run and the climbing park at Hoherodskopf, as well as the stalactite cave and the amusement park in Steinau.<br><br>There are countless opportunities to spend an eventful day in the region around the Wettges schoolhouse.
