About this property

Post and Beam House on Three Wooded Acres on Chebeague Island

This post and beam house style barn structure offers a quirky blend of island vibe: furnished with log furniture, antiques, collectibles and artwork. This spacious open concept house has many places to gather and relax. Two bedrooms accessed by separate stairs. Large sunny deck on two sides of the house, with a view of three wooded acres. Near the Rec Center with pool, fitness room, pickleball, kids programs, or walking to beaches. Guests arrive by ferry on Casco Bay Lines or CTC Ferry and your hosts Eliza and Rocky will meet you upon arrival by ferry for transportation to the house.

Flexible dates, FMI message the host. Weekly summer rental in July and August is generally Sunday to Sunday, shorter stays May, June, Sept.

The spacious kitchen has a 15 foot long solid oak bar (locally sourced) that surrounds the area, which features a copper countertop. Fully equipped for cooking. This is a kitchen characterized by colorful Fiesta Ware dishes and cast iron frypans. Special cooking requests? Ask your hosts. Start your morning with a choice of French Press coffee, drip coffee maker, or try out the stove top percolator. The fridge is oversized to hold a week of groceries.

This open concept house has plenty of space. The center section of the house rises to a 24 foot high ceiling. The first floor offers plenty of areas to gather together: at the kitchen bar, around the dining table, or settle into a cozy place to read a book, play a game or stretch out on the VLC (very large couch) for tv viewing.

There are two spacious loft bedrooms upstairs in the front and back of the house, each bedroom has separate stairs. The MBR has a queen bed featuring a sleep number mattress with extra memory foam padding. And a tv ( which can easily covered up for digital detoxing). The MBR is accessed by a spiral staircase.

The upstairs back loft bedroom is accessed by separate stairs. Furnished with a set of pine log beds, crazy antler rack, two bureaus. Fall asleep while looking up at the open post and beam ceiling. Through this room there is a hidden door to a single twin bed in the central loft. (another quirky feature of the house).

The bathroom is on the main floor, with a washer and dryer.

Bedding and towels included
Fast and reliable internet service
Washer/dryer
Gas grill
Beach chairs with a wagon
Tasty well water treated by a full filtration system
Cribbage, backgammon and puzzles

Oversized south facing deck on two sides of the house and a covered porch at one end. The house is located on three acres completely surrounded by woods. A screen house can be provided for the deck but mosquitoes have been sparse.

The Chebeage Rec Center is a five minute walk away with a heated pool, fitness room, pickleball, tennis court and gym. Check out the weekly summer camp schedule for kid friendly activities.

Explore Indian Point beach (aka The Hook) or hike across the sandbar to explore Little Chebeague Island. Check out the trail system on the Chebeague Cumberland Land Trust website.

Check out the Great Chebeague Golf Club, Tennis Club, explore trails with the Chebeague Cumberland Land Trust, or head to the beaches.
Your hosts Eliza and Rocky will meet you when you arrive for transportation to the house.

Bikes are a great way to get around, but you must bring your own. There are no rentals on the island and your hosts are lousy bike mechanics.

For bringing a car to the island, check with CTC Ferry
The barge generally runs only on Tues-Thurs. Sometimes a car rental can be arranged, check with the host.
