Affordable, Adventurous Houseboat on-the-water in Key West Florida
Reserve this unique Key West houseboat floating on the nature side of Key West, and be surrounded by the ocean view. This unique retreat features a porch area on both the front and rear, perfect for lounging, fishing, sunbathing, and watching sunrises and sunsets. Inside, enjoy a functional kitchenette complete with propane stove, a sink with running fresh water, a french press for making fresh coffee, and all the basic utensils you'd normally expect while traveling. Adjacent to the kitchenette area is a cozy living space with a full size real mattress bed (not those foldaway thin types) with a tinted, tempered, double paned panoramic window above the headboard. And for added privacy, a full blackout curtain is available for those who need it. Being just minutes from world famous Duval Street, you’re close to the action yet tucked comfortably away in Cow Key Channel, the narrow stretch of water that splits Key West from the next island up known as Stock Island. Dive into the saltwater lifestyle and let the waves rock you to sleep!
Getting the Most Out of Your Stay:
To fully enjoy the houseboat experience, we highly encourage our guests to be comfortable swimmers and have some kayaking experience (any extra boating skills are a bonus!). This is both for safety and to make sure you're getting the most out of this very fun and unique Key West experience.
Power & Energy: Our home is primarily powered by eco-friendly solar and wind energy and for the vast majority of our guests, this is plenty of power to charge your electronics and stay comfortable with cool beverages via the minifridge as well as running the air conditioner on low with the eco option selected. Outlets: Standard electrical outlets are available for your devices as well as several usb-A and usb-C plugs. Be sure to bring your own charging cables as those tend to disappear when I supply them. Additionally, there is a magsafe phone charger attached to the wall next to the bed for added convenience. High-Energy Items: An onboard generator is available for power-hungry items like electric cookers, heaters (in the winter of course), the max setting of the air conditioner, large fans, and even hair dryers. If you have other items not listed or questions about running the generator, I can easily help explain operating it when needed. Conservation: To keep the surroundings peaceful and avoid running the generator all night (it can be a bit noisy if your sensitive to that sort of thing but also please remember you're burning gasoline with a generator), we kindly ask that you turn off all appliances (including lights, AC, water pump, minifridge, and all other items) as often as possibly but especially when you are not onboard. Grilling & Chilling: We provide a small grill and a cooler for your use. To get them up and running, please remember to bring propane: standard "camping style" 1 pound, green Coleman tanks. Most guests don't use more than 2 for about a 5 day stay and even that is only if they're grilling every day. And while there is a working minifridge, it saves a lot of electricity by simply adding a couple of bags of ice to the cooler I've supplied with the houseboat.
My houseboat is anchored on the easternmost side of the island of Key West in what’s called “Cow Key Channel.” Guests have been known to catch fish from the front and rear deck areas and spotting local wildlife is very common. When it’s not too windy, many have laid a towel out on the ladder accessible rooftop for sunbathing and stargazing. The surrounding neighbors are very friendly and have been known to help guests navigate the area and suggest favorite restaurants and other attractions that Key West has to offer. Yet still, privacy is always a simple curtain pull away. Kayaks come complimentary with your stay and exploring the area is encouraged. Bottled water is also complimentary and stay cold in the onboard mini fridge. There is a working television but you’ll need to use your mobile phone personal hotspot for internet usage. There are roughly 40 gallons of fresh water onboard so we ask that all guests conserve your water usage for maximum positive experience.
