Our Commitment to Our Guests
We know that there are hundreds of places you could choose to rent for your family vacation, and that you want it to be a wonderful experience. Purchasing a family cabin has been a lifelong dream of ours, and a decision that resulted after more than two years of searching. Since we bought Quinn Cabin in late 2019, we have continued to improve the property so that it feels comfortable and homey- not just for our family, but also for yours!
We promised if we were going to open the cabin to guests, we were going to do it the right way. We shopped around for some of the most comfy furniture, highly rated kayaks, soft bed and bath linens, and quality kitchenware. We hired an outstanding cleaner and have great contractor partners, so any emergency needs can be addressed immediately. Your enjoyment, safety and comfort are ALWAYS our top priorities.
Always Building Better
In order to ensure your stay is worry-free, we continue to make necessary and desirable updates. In the first year and a half we added forced air conditioning and heat with new ductwork throughout the cabin, upgraded the electrical, replaced the water heater, updated the bathroom complete with a custom tile shower and all new everything, replaced the water pump, replaced the old septic system, and gave the kitchen a complete facelift including new appliances and under-cabinet lighting. In 2025, we added new stone-coated steel roofing, replaced the gas grill, and added new outdoor furniture including a sturdy picnic table and adirondack chairs. In 2026, our focus is on curb appeal- painting the exterior of the cabin and outbuildings as well as the mailbox and planters, and giving the stairs to the lake a glow-up. We will continue to improve over the next couple years with new docks, attractive landscaping, and an upgraded patio area and fire pit down by the lake.
For Children
We provide two pack 'n plays*, two booster seats for the dining table, bibs, children's utensils and dishes, games and basic arts and crafts supplies. Our kids love playing by the lake- and swimming during summertime! They also love to explore the property, including our undeveloped lot directly across the street. You and your kids will likely find a variety of wildlife around the property including squirrels, chipmunks, deer, colorful insects, woodpeckers and other colorful birds, owls, raccoons, various mushrooms, toads, frogs, geese, loons, heron, crayfish, snails, bluegill, bass and trout...just to name a few. A short five minute drive away you can also take the kids to the Imagination Station at Chalker Park.
*Please note that we do not provide any infant or child-sized bed linens or small bath towels for babies and toddlers. Please make sure to include those in your packing list.
Enhanced Cleaning
We understand that many travelers are intentionally choosing vacation rentals over hotels out of an abundance of caution since the pandemic. We adhere to Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning Process, diligently following CDC cleaning protocols.
Pets
Have you made it this far and wonder if your pet can come along for vacation? We certainly understand how much your fur friends mean to you. Unfortunately, guest pets are not allowed. But don't worry! If you don't have a preferred kennel or close friend who cares for your pet when you're away, we've had only great experiences using the Rover app to hire pet sitters and house sitters! And, honestly, vacations are more relaxing when you don't have to see to potty breaks or other unexpected pet accidents throughout the trip.

About the host
Hosted by Lucas
I'm originally from Lansing and my husband, Corey, is from Morehead City, NC. We now live with our two children and six pets just outside Grand Rapids. We love to travel, explore nature, try new restaurants, and enjoy going to concerts and musicals. My family did not have a cottage anywhere when I was growing up, and I LOVED creating memories with friends at their vacation homes. My favorite part of being a host is sharing our cozy cabin with others so they can create new vacation memories with their loved ones. Reading everyone's thoughtful reviews and guest book entries is always SO rewarding for me! Although I don't post on social media as often as I'd like, I'd love for you to follow us and like and share our posts. Our followers have been our biggest supporters during times when travel is down.
Why they chose this property
I worked and volunteered for a YMCA residential camp for many years. When I came across the listing for Quinn Cabin, it immediately reminded me of that camp- especially the exterior of the cabin and the hillside near the lake. We lived in southern Illinois at the time and asked our realtor to preview the property and send us a video and photos. He had coincidentally also worked at the same Y camp many years before and also commented in his videos on how much the property reminded him of the camp! While I LOVE to travel, the cabin is definitely my happy place. We never want to leave when we vacation there. Things we always do when we stay there include at least one or two delicious meals at Twin Birch, breakfast at Moose and Stella's, lots of time outside enjoying the lake and all the wildlife. We often take day trips to Traverse City, Glen Abor, Elk Rapids, Leland, Charlevoix, Petoskey, and other beautiful lake towns, as well.
What makes this property unique
When we decided to open the cabin to guests, we made a promise that we'd never settle for the cheapest of anything. We do a lot of research before we purchase anything for the cabin to ensure comfort and quality. We want our happy place to be yours, too! Another compliment we often receive is that Quinn Cabin is very well-appointed. I have found that to be a real differentiator whenever we stay at other short term vacation rentals.
