About this property
Maison La Cosy is a romantic cottage with antique character and charm
Maison La Cosy is a romantic voillage house with antique character and charm - located in the heart of the small, beautiful village of Paguignan, which breathes the flair of the French past, surrounded by lovely vineyards in the middle of a beautiful hilly landscape, about 15 minutes' drive from the Canal du Midi and about 45 minutes' drive from the Mediterranean.
Built in the 15th century as a farm building with a stable, the house was completely renovated in the mid-19th century and again in the early 21st century, with original style elements such as the wooden ceiling beams and the massive old stone walls being preserved and restored throughout the cottage. A wood-burning stove in a Languedocienne style can be found in the dining room.
The house has been lovingly furnished with old and new furniture to provide a warm, traditional interior that will make your holiday relaxing and memorable.
A small terrace with oleander bushes and yucca in front of the cottage invites you to enjoy the morning sun with a cup of coffee or to end a romantic evening with a glass of wine from the surrounding vineyards.
The hamlet is located right next to the Haut Languedoc National Park in the Herault department. In the beautiful surrounding villages of Olonzac, St Chinian, St Pons-de-Thomieres and Capestang, traditional local markets are held every week.
In Aigues-Vives, 3 km away, there are restaurants, a grocery shop, a bakery, a wine shop run by a local wine producer, a post office and a petrol station. A mobile bakery, butcher and greengrocer come directly to the village several times a week.
It is possible to park in front of the house to load or unload the car, but the narrow streets in Paguignan can make it difficult for larger cars to drive through. Permanent free parking is possible on the church square, approx. 80 m on foot from the house.
There is a lot to discover around Paguignan:
• the Cathar stronghold of Minerve - classified as „Plus beaux villages de France“, one of the „Most beautiful villages in France” (10 km)
• the Canal du Midi - where you can rent barges or take beautiful walks along the river banks watching the boats floating by (15 km)
• Long sandy beaches at the Plage de Matteille (45 km)

• The Gorges d'Héric – a great gorge with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains (51 km)
