Welcome to Chalet Wickie—nestled among three unique natural landscapes: the Bavarian Forest National Park, the idyllic river landscape of the Ilz, and the tri-border region with Austria and the Czech Republic.

Our chalet is situated on a sunny south-facing slope and features a fenced-in terrace and a private garden. Designed with great attention to detail, the house exudes warmth, tranquility, and character—a place with soul that reflects the surrounding nature and invites you to settle in and take a deep breath.

A large covered sun terrace (fenced) with a seating area and a garden overlooking the romantic Ilz Valley and the surrounding mountains invite you to sunbathe or enjoy breakfast outdoors. On warm summer evenings, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset with a glass of wine on the terrace. A small herb garden and grill are available to you year-round.
A woodshed for storing your own bicycles and skis is right next to the terrace. If needed, ice skates, skis, tennis rackets, and 2 bicycles are also available. Children’s playgrounds are in the immediate vicinity.

Forests, meadows, and mountains, as well as biking and hiking trails, are right on your doorstep.
The village square in Haus im Wald is a 400-meter walk away, where you’ll find an inn with its own butcher shop. In town, there is an Edeka grocery store, a bakery (which offers a bread roll delivery service), a post office, a bank, a hair salon, and a liquor store specializing in whiskey (Whiskyworld).
The climatic health resort of Grafenau (8 km) offers plenty of adventure for young and old, in addition to places to stop for a bite to eat and stroll around. From the spa adventure park with a wave pool to one of the longest summer toboggan runs and an ice rink (also open in summer), all the way to the outdoor animal enclosure and the treetop walk.
The proximity of Passau (35 km) invites you to take a trip to the old town or a boat cruise all the way to Vienna. You can explore our neighboring country, the Czech Republic (border approx. 35 km away), and visit the town of Český Krumlov—poetically known as the “Gateway to the Bohemian Forest.”
The Mittendorf Ski Center, Brotjacklriegel, and Arber are about 30 km away; cross-country ski trails and ski lifts are located in the immediate vicinity.
There are many natural swimming lakes within a radius of 8–20 km (Dreiburgensee, Ebenreuther See, Eginger See, Hohenauer Badeweiher) or the Ilz River, approximately 800 m away.
