About this property

Charming Cabin With Stunning Views!

Our charming cabin with world-class views is ideal for a quiet retreat or a home base for adventures. With stunning views of the White Mountains, the cabin is set on a hilltop surrounded by woods, a small family orchard, and a vegetable garden. Located on 75 acres bordered by hundreds of acres of woods and conserved land, you'll find beauty and calm all around you.

The cabin: Open space with a fold-down couch bed, a futon bed, a breakfast nook, kitchenette, and small fireplace. The sleeping loft above the main area provides additional privacy. Linens and blankets for both beds are provided. If you like, you can pitch a tent.

In the kitchenette you'll find a mini-fridge, cookware, flatware, dinnerware, and a starter supply of common items (tea, sugar, coffee filters, paper products, etc).

There is an outdoor propane grill with grilling utensils, and an outdoor fire pit.

There is NO INDOOR PLUMBING; instead there is an outhouse, and an outdoor sink and enclosed shower, both with running hot and cold water.

The cabin is powered by the sun and is off-grid. If needed during cloudy weather there is a generator for backup, as well as family games and DVDs for rainy days. There is cell service for most carriers, and most people can get online through their data plans. There is no WiFi.

If you're bringing your dog, please make sure they're added to the reservation. We prefer dogs stay off the furniture, but please bring your own protective cover just in case. If they are to be left unattended please bring a crate for them while you're out. Sorry, we do not allow cats in our rental.

There is no trash pickup; the local transfer station is only open on Saturdays. There are bins in the cabin for trash, recycling, and compost. We appreciate when guests "carry in, carry out."

Although very private the cabin is conveniently located between two I91 exits, and is close to Groton State Forest and the Cross Vermont Trail.

We live and work onsite. We are also the home of The Growing Peace Project (thegrowingpeaceproject.org), and the garden behind the cabin is part of our food security programs. While we make every effort to respect guest privacy, during your stay you may see one or two of us quietly tending the garden or orchard. If you need us for any reason our home is onsite.

Wildlife abounds! You will hear song birds, mourning doves, owls, our resident raven family, and sometimes coyotes. You might see deer or a porcupine in the orchard, and possibly a moose or a bear if you're very lucky. This is a truly special place, and we're looking forward to sharing it with you.

Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
In our rural area there is no trash pickup, and our transfer station/recycling center is open just one day/week. To avoid attracting animals we appreciate "carry in, carry out" as much as possible.
Vermont law does not allow food waste in the landfill. Please use the compost bucket provided in the kitchenette, and make sure the lid is secure when you check out.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
NO children in the loft
NO smoking indoors
Outdoor firepit: After use, extinguish the fire with the hose at the back of the cabin. Outdoor grill: Turn off propane bottle when not in use

The views at this place are just as gorgeous as the pictures look! Jacqueline was a wonderful host and extremely communicative. It is a great spot for a “glamping” experience in rural Vermont.
