The front room is quaint, the property manager is responsive, and the sleeping spaces are in the dank, smelly basement. The bed pillows are the same throughout: heavy, blocky and lumpy. The bathroom shared by the two below-grade “bedrooms” is dreary, dated, and smelly. The main floor bathroom is more pleasant, however the water pressure in the shower is nearly non-existent, a lightbulb was out, and the ceiling vent had a thick layer of dust. This rental represents what is wrong with the VBRO (etc) business model: deceptive photography, misleading information, and reviewers who lack the backbone to provide candid feedback. The paucity of hotels outside of downtown Seattle has allowed for a proliferation of shoddy rentals at absurd prices. Fitness center on site? There are four mats and two sets of damaged dumbbells. I’m sure the zoo passes are valuable to some, but I’d wager that most renters want fresh, comfortable living and sleeping spaces. I will surrender to the annoyance of downtown traffic and inconvenience so that I can have acceptable accommodations that deliver on their cost. Is this the worst rental ever? Of course not. But it is a solid disappointment offered by owners who are well aware that they are deceiving renters. Best of luck to others.
