Still a seafaring and fishing village to this day, Wieck has in recent years become an insider’s tip for those seeking relaxation, nature lovers, and Baltic Sea holidaymakers who want to spend the best days of the year away from the hustle and bustle.

The town’s character is defined by its many thatched-roof houses with their half-hipped roofs, wooden siding, and famous doors.

At the “Darßer Arche,” the National Park and Visitor Centre, you can learn all about the unique features of the landscape.

To the northwest of the town, the Darß Forest—with its old beech trees, holly, pines, ferns, junipers, and heather—offers cyclists and hikers a wide range of excursions into unspoiled nature.

But the Bodden also offers excellent conditions for all water sports. A paradise for sailors, surfers, and anglers! Children can splash around, run about, and swim to their heart’s content in the shallow waters of the Bodden on the beach next to the renovated harbour.

This secluded area is accessible only by horse-drawn carriage, on horseback, by bike, or via the Darssbahn, and entices visitors with its romantic, secluded spots.

One of Germany’s most beautiful corners also has plenty to offer in terms of cuisine: regular organic markets await you with homemade regional delicacies centred around sea buckthorn.
