Reit im Winkl, a climatic health resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climatic health resort” is awarded to “locations whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess qualities that are beneficial for relaxation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a health resort in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation through ongoing efforts ever since. One key factor is its high elevation, which ensures that summer heat is moderated and nights remain pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is largely determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valleys on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions that contribute to good air quality, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air through the use of geothermal energy and an extensive bus service.
