About the host

Hosted by Inessa Gogia

Host profile image
We are Inessa and Sergey, the owners of Orange Cat. We live nearby in Tbilisi and look after the apartment ourselves.

Inessa is Georgian and has spent many years working in design and marketing. She is also an artist, and the original artwork in Orange Cat is hers. Sergey has a background in IT and engineering and tends to look after the practical and technical side of things.

Orange Cat is our own apartment, not part of a property management business. We prepared it around the things we value ourselves when travelling: a comfortable bed, a kitchen you can actually cook in, reliable internet, enough space for two people not to get in each other’s way, and clear practical information before and during a stay.

Because we live locally, we can also help with the less obvious parts of Tbilisi when needed - getting around, everyday services, local practicalities and the small questions that rarely make it into travel guides.

We do not run a hotel or a 24-hour concierge service. We simply know the apartment, the neighbourhood and the city well, and try to make staying here straightforward.

Why they chose this property

We chose this part of Tbilisi because it works very well for everyday life.

Orange Cat is in Saburtalo, close to Technical University metro station. The neighborhood has the things you actually use during a stay within easy reach: supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, cafés, restaurants and public transport. Getting to other parts of Tbilisi is straightforward, while coming home does not mean returning to the middle of the busiest tourist streets.

The apartment itself sits above the Kura River valley, which is one of the reasons we liked this particular location. From the bedroom, living room and both balconies there are open views across the city. The apartment faces east, so mornings bring sunlight, while later in the day the rooms and balconies move into shade.

Saburtalo is also a part of Tbilisi we know through ordinary life rather than as visitors. That matters to us. We can tell guests where to buy groceries, exchange money, find a pharmacy, use public transport or solve the small practical problems that come with staying in another city.

For us, the appeal of the neighborhood is this combination: good transport, useful everyday infrastructure, a real residential part of Tbilisi, and an apartment with space and open views above the city.

What makes this property unique

Orange Cat was designed around a simple idea: two people travelling together do not have to spend every minute of the day together.

There is one separate bedroom and a large kitchen-living room, and both rooms can function independently. Each has its own air conditioning and balcony. There are two separate workspaces. If one person wants to sleep while the other works, watches a film or has an early coffee, the apartment allows that without turning the stay into a negotiation.

The same thinking applies to smaller things. The kitchen is meant for actual cooking, not just making tea. There is a dishwasher and washing machine. Fiber internet supports normal remote work. The sofa can be prepared for sleeping when two guests prefer separate beds. Different duvets and pillows are available rather than assuming everybody sleeps the same way.

The two balconies are part of everyday life here, not decorative extras. Both have open views across Tbilisi, with morning sun and shade later in the day.

The artwork is also genuinely part of the apartment. It was created by Inessa, one of the owners, rather than selected as generic rental decoration.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that Orange Cat is one apartment. There is no management company, reception desk or portfolio of similar units behind it. We live nearby, know this apartment in detail and look after it ourselves.

For us, Orange Cat is the combination of the apartment, its neighborhood and local knowledge. The aim is simple: remove as many small inconveniences from a stay as we reasonably can, while giving two people enough space to live in Tbilisi in their own way.
