About this property

A 5 bedroom mountain retreat, ideal for couples, and families.

House is beautiful five bedroom home, situated in five wooded acres in Clifftops, a gated community in Monteagle, Tennessee, five minutes from Sewanee and University of the South, Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, Dubose Conference Center; offers hiking, biking, swimming in community lake and pool, (pool during summer months), canoeing and sports galore.. pet friendly -- dogs only.
Home can sleep ten (12 with sofa bed with additional charge), has four full, and one half bathrooms, comfortable kitchen, lounge, formal dining room, family room, large grounds and walking trails on property.
Configuration of bedding: 3 king bedded rooms, 1 queen bedded room and one room with 2 twin beds.

Note: no rentals to persons under 21 permitted without parents or adult family members and primary renter must be over age of 25.
We have a two night minimum to allow guests to relax and enjoy our home.

Sue has everything you need to host a Thanksgiving meal. She was always handy for any questions we had. There was so much space to spread out or cozy up together in front of the fire. We had a great visit and hope to go back!

We had a marvelous time at this lovely home in Clifftops. The home was very well equipped with everything we needed and was located in the same neighborhood as our relatives’s home - making it very convenient for family gatherings. We would definitely stay there again!

This lovely house in Clifftops was exactly as advertised. We were in town to help our daughter move into her dorm at Sewanee. The host Sue was very responsive, but not intrusive. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Weekend Get-a -way with friends

This was a great house in the woods for a weekend with friends with plenty of space for spending time together as a group and on our own. Although secluded , it was a short distance to hiking, restaurants and The Caverns. We all hope to come back again soon ! (The bedrooms and bathrooms were exactly as described. 5 bdms 4 1/2 baths accommodating up to 10 adults very comfortably.)

A great neighborhood

This house had plenty of space for our family. Everyone got their own bedroom and bathroom. Lots of good trails in the area and some interesting shops. Very private neighborhood so we felt secure and it was very quiet.

Our family Christmas time at Moongahla was so nice. This roomy home has all you need and more! It is welcoming and comfortable inside and out. The owner excels in communication from beginning to end. With 10 people, from 4 years old to 75, and a dog, it had space for all !

Weekend at the Caverns

We were in the area to see music at the Caverns nearby and this home was the perfect spot to be. It was nice and secluded and extremely welcoming. We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

I am a transplanted Australian, by way of California, and chose the Tennessee mountains as a perfect place to semi-retire and enjoy the beauty of middle Tennessee.
The house reflects a combination of my Australian heritage and a little of the south and the name 'Moongalbah' is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning 'a sitting and resting place' and I invite you and your guests to use the front porch rockers and do just that... enjoy, relax and breathe the fresh mountain air.

Why they chose this property

'Moongalbah' in Clifftops is a perfect retreat for guests attending events at the University of the South, whether it be key university weekends, weddings, reunions etc. This gated community allows privacy, and a perfect base to explore the Cumberland Plateau, hiking trails and so much more.
