"Did you see the lake this morning?""No. Every time I pass a window, I close my eyes."Our favorite quote. From nearly every window, you have a view of this beautiful area. The house is historic: small, cozy, full of charm. PLENTY of space outdoors. We loved the gazebo, the terrace, and the surrounding trees and ferns, but our favorite places were the lake and the forest path that we explored to our dogs' content. (It's delightful with lots of variety: birch trees, lichen-covered boulders, shoulder-high fern growth, beautiful fir forests, and if you have Google maps with you, you'll find your way to a circuit that takes you back out to "civilization" via the bike route, or--even better--to hidden lakeshores.)We explored the area (nature reserves, canoed from Alshüt Handelbod!), ate way too many delicious pastries from the Urshult bakery (be warned!). We cooked a lot because who wants to sit in a restaurant with the best view available? This spot, right here, is wonderfully placed (lots of freedom for the dogs), and really close to infrastructure (you could walk), and, regardless, in minutes, you're deep in nature. WE LOVED IT!Great owners, lovely family, very kind. They've just purchased the property and have lots of ideas on how to improve visitors' experiences, like a better way to get into the water from the visitors' shoreline. Highly recommended.
