There are three resturants and an ice cream parlor within walking distance. The Jigger Shop Ice Cream Parlor has been in operation since 1895. There is also a nostalgic roller rink and miniature golf, and Mt. Gretna lake that are seasonally open. The village is nestled in the historic 125-year old Charles Dickens like Village of Campmeeting, Mt. Gretna, Pa. In the 1890’s, the Pennsylvania Chautauqua Society founded Mt. Gretna, attracted by the region’s natural beauty. The landscape is still just as inviting——gently wooded mountains, a steam, and a lake. Throughout the Summer, the Chautauqua’s educational and cultural tradition is carried out on with first-rate events in music, theater, and art. As cooler weather sets in, the area displays some of the most stunning foliage of the Northeast. When snow flies, cross country skiers enjoy expertly groomed, picturesque trails. Spring brings a green-dusted calm to the acres of protected Gamelands, crossed by miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking. Also, a great place for hunters to hang their hats in deer season!

The house (and front porch!) were extremely cozy, and we loved the decor. The location is perfect--we were able to walk to restaurants, and the setting is gorgeous. So many beautiful trees and flowers and friendly people! We highly recommend staying here.
We loved staying at sunset cottage. Even though it was a short stay, host was really accommodating and friendly. Absolutely beautiful place, rhe pictures dont do it justice!
Beautiful cottage with all modern amenities. Thoughtful touches like nightlights, plentiful towels for kitchen and baths and hooks to hang them on, and easy-to-follow directions regarding location of light switches. Lovely porch for relaxing. Extremely responsive host/owner.
Thank you for your review of Sunset Cottage.
It is greatly appreciated.
You are very welcome to visit again.
It truly is a magical place.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house has the charm and quirkiness of an old Victorian home, but it's been updated where it matters and is very comfortable and well equipped. The host was extremely responsive to messages and was very helpful. We visited in the winter so we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor space for long, but the town seems really cute and was an easy drive to a few bigger towns, as well as to Lancaster.
We enjoyed everything about this charming cottage from the candy jar to the skylights! My sister's family rented nearby but we all gathered here on the porch!

We had a wonderful weekend at Mount Gretna despite the cool and rainy weather. The house was well stocked for our cooking needs. The large well furnished porch was great for conversation, relaxing, games and meals. Very relaxing weekend.
The cottage was cozy and very clean. It is just as described. The camp meeting village belongs under a Christmas tree- lovely! It was a perfect place to stay for our family on a long weekend in town for a wedding. The host was very easy to communicate with.

Thank you for being wonderful guests and treating the cottage as your own.
This was a wonderful house, very comfortable with all the modern amenities while maintaining the cottage feel of the property. Such attention to detail throughout this beautifully furnished home. The times when we weren't exploring the neighborhood, we were relaxing on the spacious and comfortable porch. I would definitely recommend this home and Mt Gretna; and would love to come back again to do it all over again!

Three generations of my family stayed at this cottage. It suited us very well. The porch is amazing. It’s a great place to sit and gather all together. The cottage was very clean and neat.
The kitchen was great, and had everything we could need.
Mount Gretna is my happy place. I spent all my summers there growing up.
Lovely property, very comfortable and welcoming. We prepared and served a full Thanksgiving meal for 17 in the well equipped kitchen. Nice room to spread out for smaller group conversations. Almost warm enough to spread out onto front porch and could have with jackets on. Loved walking the neighborhoods. Dog warmly welcomed. Would definitely love to stay again. Highly recommend this property.
The house was very nice with a large comfortably furnished large porch. Large table on porch which was great for outdoor meals and hame-playing. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. 2 1/2 updated baths which is always nice. Close to things but still felt privacy. Highly recommend. I would try to stay there again if i return to Mt. Gretna.
I felt like we were in a permanent camping site. The trees were magnificent, the walking trails so good for us.. The beautiful butterflies. This home was soo cool. Each day we had at least one thing to talk about that was so unique here. We gathered around the piano for fun and singing. In the eve we had a grand time on the porch around the round table playing games. We had a fabulous vacation at this mt gretna stunning home!

What makes this property unique
This cottage offers a step back in time, quiet, peaceful garden setting view from the large covered wrap around porch. Many of the cottages are very tight against the neighboring cottages and offer little or no privacy when on the porch. Sunset Cottage has a wonderful view of the Campmeeting gardens with no obstructions and has shaded gardens on both sides to the property. Please be informed, Mt. Gretna is a family resort area, there is a quiet time mandatory from 10:00 PM until 9:00 AM the following day. Also, the cottage is over 100 years old, but is meticulous in every detail. The original pine floors are uneven and there are no right angle corners in the rooms giving Sunset Cottage a special vintage historic charm. The wrap around porch is very special as it overlooks the garden of the Campmeeting community. Also, very importantly there is parking on the premise for three vehicles.....a rarity in Mt. Gretna!
