'The Pines' Is The Perfect Log Cabin Getaway In The Beautiful Jemez Mtns.
Relax at this quaint but spacious 1950's log cabin nestled in the Ponderosa pines at nearly 8,000 feet. You won't want to leave the front porch with its view of a relaxing meadow and towering Redondo Peak. Oh, and your senses will be filled with the beauty of the pines. We even provide the coffee for your cozy mornings on the porch.
The four bedrooms sleep six comfortably, but which room will you choose? The Bear room? Flower room? Bird room? or Western room? They are all decorated just for you.
The Pines is located within 2 miles of trout fishing, hiking, a convenience store, liquor store and Spence Hot Springs. It's just a short drive to Jemez Falls, Soda Dam, Fenton Lake, Valles Calderas and the town of Jemez Springs.
This updated cabin is stocked with Internet, toys, a record player, records and flat screen TV with 150 DVDs ready to watch. A landline phone with unlimited calls (within the US) is available since cell phone service is sketchy in the area.
The property has a propane grill and two fireplaces - one electric and one wood-burning. Stocked with most cooking utensils and appliances and even some basic condiments, you'll be cooking up a storm in no time. A clothes dryer is available for use, but there is no wasger it dishwasher, so roll up your sleeves.
The cabin is the perfect place for a family gathering, small group get-together, or a couple's romantic getaway. Snuggled at the end of a neighborhood, we ask that you respect our neighbors by keeping the noise down.
You may see an elk, bobcat or deer mosey through the area. But don't leave food outside, because bears visit too.
Remember - this is a rustic, 66-year-old log cabin in the middle of the woods. It is not a pristine city resort. That's why it's so charming.

We had a great time at The Pines! Just perfect for a quick get away from Albuquerque with visiting family! Really beautiful location and lots of thoughtful touches throughout the house. Thank you so much, it was a great experience!
Wonderful weekend in the Jemez. The house was nice and warm. We enjoyed watching the birds in the morning on the porch. Close to the Valles Caldera and hiking paths. Even enjoyed a drive to the Valles Caldera at night to try and see the comet.

Have been staying here since 2015. It is perfect for our needs. We enjoy sitting on the porch looking at Redondo Peak while watching the hummingbirds, squirrels, wild birds and bats. Will come again next year.
I love staying at The Pines! The cabin is wonderful and reminds me of home. Quick drive to Valles Caldera National Preserve and Jemez Springs. Plenty of hiking and nature to enjoy! I especially love sitting on the porch and watch the birds, chipmunks and squirrels. I enjoy being able to make meals and relax. Looking forward to coming back!

Thanks for staying! Although we have updated the bathrooms and kitchen greatly in the past few years, we tried to keep it as vintage looking as possible to fit with the 1950’s era cabin. We hope you come back😊
There were four of us family members who enjoyed having The Pines as our home base while enjoying the area and each other. Great music collection! Well- equipped kitchen, lovely and relaxing porch with great views.

I’m so glad you had a great time! Thanks for coming and hope to back again in the future.
Our family stayed here for several days to enjoy the beautiful Jemez mountains. We had a nice vacation and enjoyed the cabin. The host was very accommodating and easy to work with. She responded to my questions quickly.
The condo is beautiful with all the creature comforts of home. It is in an excellent location to take advantage of Angel Fire and the surrounding sites (Taos, Red River, Eagles Nest etc.)
Beautiful location and the cabin is really comfortable and lots of land. Kids were able to play on the large property and we could enjoy the view. Wonderful time. Great cabin for families.
Nice cabin with plenty of amenities and well stocked. Great communication with Martha. We love spending time in the Jemez Mountains and this was a good base camp for our Thanksgiving. Thanks!

About the host
Hosted by Martha Landes
I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduated from OU, then was a public school music teacher for 20+ years. We moved to South Dakota for 5 years where my husband was a dean at South Dakota State University and I worked as a community coach, before landing permanently in Rio Rancho, NM in 2011. Now, we both write - he writes screenplays while I write mystery novels. (You might even find copies on the bookshelf) As a child, my family had a cabin in Missouri that we escaped to on a regular basis. It was always a place to rejuvenate. Now that I'm a New Mexico resident, I can't get back to Missouri very often and missed having that relaxing getaway. So, we bought this charming log cabin in the Jemez Mountains to do just that. After fixing it up, we decided it needed to be shared with others and are renting The Pines out during the times we aren't enjoying the amazing Jemez Mountains ourselves. We hope you will consider this relaxing place as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
The Pines is unique in that it feels secluded, but is fairly close to other homes. It's only 50 beautiful miles from Rio Rancho, 60 from Albuquerque and 40 miles from Los Alamos. The Jemez mountains have so many amazing places to explore. This property is in the perfect location - At 7,850 feet elevation, it's 15 degrees cooler than Albuquerque with no traffic noise, and lots of green surrounding the property.
What makes this property unique
The cozy feel of 'Grandma's House' is what hit me when I first saw this place - with the charming 1950's bones. After updating the property, it is still reminiscent of the old days, but with most of the modern conveniences we are accustomed to now. We love sitting on the front porch with a drink in hand visiting and watching nature, or take a walk down the gravel road. It's very therapeutic.
