EXCLUSIVELY YOURS! Private Beach Path, Double Water Access, and Dog Friendly.
DOUBLE WATER ACCESS! A PRIVATE BEACH PATH & BEACH GEAR CORRAL IN FRONT TO THE SANDY BEACH; & PRIVATE CEMENT BOAT RAMP & LARGEST DOCK AT BROADKILL BEACH IN THE BACK YARD. PRIVATE PATHWAY TO BEACH WITH A BEACH GEAR CORRAL! The property across the street was purchased & is maintained by the homeowner who also provides you with an exclusive private pathway as part of your rental agreement. It does not get any better than this!
Located on the south end of Broadkill Beach, in Sussex County, DE, this spacious four-bedroom property faces the sandy beach at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, just a few steps from your front door & your private pathway to the beach. In the rear of the property is your own private dock & boat ramp giving you access to the Broadkill River, Delaware Bay & the Atlantic Ocean.
NEAR LEWES & HENLOPEN! NEAR FREDERICA & BETHANY! (No sports teams please)
Instead of parking problems, heavy traffic & crowded beaches, a typical day could look something like this:
In the early morning, from your master bedroom’s private sundeck; view the eastern sky & large ships that appear small, moving effortlessly through a vast body of water while you are enjoying your first cup of coffee. Walk over your small dune that reveals the shoreline of the Delaware Bay; soothe your soul by feeling the calmness of a new day. As you watch the pink, orange, & gold sunrise over the water, the calm changes, you feel a breeze coming from the salty sea, you see & hear the waves begin to lap onto the beach, birds appear, start chirping, & move toward the one-foot surf; you now know why Broadkill Beach is the best-kept secret in all of Delaware.
Linger & watch the Cape May/Lewes Ferry travel across the mouth of the Delaware Bay to its destination. Watch dolphins playing, splashing & catching fish just in front of you. Walk north toward the Broadkill Store, turn over stranded horseshoe crabs & stop to investigate the life on & around the rock jetty.
At low tide look for hermit crabs, starfish, conchs & other sea life in the shallow water around these rocks. Read, relax, swim, take a nap at the water’s edge & refresh yourself with lunch in the cool air conditioning of your retreat just behind the small dune you crossed over earlier in the day.
Walk south from your private beach path toward Beach Plum Island State Park & ask the fishermen if they are catching anything. Look south & identify the Roosevelt Inlet, historic Lewes, Henlopen Point & the breakwater lighthouse.
Return to your resting place, take an outdoor shower & plan your evening by making sure you are back home to sit on the bench seats of your private observation deck to watch a spectacular sunset over a Federal Wildlife Refuge & waterway adjoining your own backyard.
This open-concept home, built in the perfect location, was designed for comfort, convenience, & enjoyment to be shared with family, friends, & now with you. It consists of two living areas that are included in the weekly rental fee; a three-bedroom house & a one-room efficiency room that sleeps 3. The two areas are connected by an enclosed staircase & access to an outdoor shower, changing area, & privacy space.
Imagine the convenience of bringing your own boat to launch & dock in back, giving you access to limitless activities & adventures that few people are fortunate enough to discover or experience. Spend the day fishing & crabbing from the dock, exploring winding tributaries in the backwaters, drifting on the Broadkill River, charging through the Roosevelt Inlet into the open expanse of the Delaware Bay & Atlantic Ocean waiting for you to experience all it has to offer.
BRING YOUR TOYS, IF YOU DON'T, YOU'LL WISH YOU HAD! Launch your boat, jet skis, canoes, kayaks & other flotation vessels into the backwaters. Navigate south on the Broadkill River to Lewes for a cocktail & meal at the waterside restaurants. Go out the Roosevelt Inlet for bay fishing or jet skiing. Come around on the bay to your home at Broadkill & take the family for a ride on the jet skis, go tubing & wakeboarding, or load everyone up on your pontoon boat for a day trip & picnic lunch. Head back in the Inlet & get a gasoline fill-up on the water in Lewes. Your dock is long enough to hold a 24-foot pontoon boat in the water for the week & still have plenty of room to crab, fish, catch minnows, sunbathe, put up a baby pool, fill with water, bird watch, sit, & relax.
Replenish your mind & soul with the serenity of the environment, meditate, read, & experience the sunset from the dock of your private oasis.
Activities: • Walk the beach with your sand bucket and find natural treasures not found at other beaches. • Explore the rock jetty during low tide and find water creatures you did not know were there! • Play Corn Hole on the front deck with a refreshing drink by your side. • Ride the waves of Delaware bay in the open kayaks provided with our rental experience. • Take the kayaks out from your back yard onto Deep Hole Creek, turn right to the Broadkill Store, or left to the Broadkill River. On weekends, the Broadkill Store’s world-renowned cake donuts are freshly prepared. Remember to order or shop early! • Load up the car and take the kids to the ocean at Cape Henlopen State Park for the day and appreciate your location when you return. • Delight your little ones at Rehoboth Beach Funland (funlandrehoboth.com) • Enjoy the waterparks (funatjunglejims.com) • Golf at the Rookery Championship Golf Club at Rt 1 and Rt 16 (rookerygolf.com) • Take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to Cape May. The historic town of Milton has a charming downtown at the beginning of the Broadkill River. Most restaurants overlook the river or fresh water Wagamon’s pond. Fishing off the docks or on the pond are favorite locations for avid anglers to catch a meal. The state record largemouth bass was caught here.
The Milton Museum gives the history of the town as a shipbuilding town during colonial time as well as button making from clam shells, rope making, and holy garland in the late fall to sell in Philadelphia. The practically self sustaining Dogfish Head brewery was once a cannery, and now includes beer making, a distillery, and casual restaurant. Plan on spending an afternoon there and play some bocce ball if it is not too hot. Other Milton restaurants include: • Taco Real Mexican • The Miltonian Pizzeria • Irish Eyes Pub Fare in Milton (also located on the dock at Lewes, DE) • Dough Bar with a varied menu American cuisine ( behind Irish Eyes ) • Beaches Seafood • The Backyard ( American cuisine ) • The Broadkill Store (pick up a menu, order, and take it back to the house)

Josh and family,
It was great to see your family enjoyed the sunny day the beach had to offer! Many families enjoy the "Late Summer" that October often provides! Please come back and vacation with us again!
Thank you for the 5 star review and your group was awesome!
We had a very lovely getaway. The house is in an amazing location with the most gorgeous sunsets. We especially loved being able to easily access both the bay and the beach. The hosts were very kind, communicative, and helpful with all of our questions. We can’t wait to go back in the future!

Heather and family,
Thank you for the 5 star review!
Our beach is the best kept secret in all of Delaware!
I hope you were able to take a day trip to nearby Henlopen State Park. It is also a perfect vacation experience!
See you next time!

My rather large family was extremely happy and made many wonderful memories at this vacation property. Wendy was a most gracious host and easily accessible for any questions that I had. This house is really the best of both worlds with the ocean on one side and the canal on the other. The sunsets are spectacular. There are so many amenities; bikes, a child wagon, fire pit, 3 minute walk to the beach are just a few. I highly recommend this house for a wonderful family friendly vacation.

This location is the best kept secret in Delaware! I am sure you enjoyed having your own private pathway to the sandy beach. I hope you had time to spend on the beach as well as the oversize dock in the back where the tidal creek offers fishing, crabbing, and great conversation while resting on the built in bench seats. The cement boat ramp is also great for launching kayaks, jet skis, and motor boats.
I am glad to hear you had a wonderful time and plan on returning!
We had a relaxing week at this property. The beach was never crowded and was quite enjoyable.

Bill and family,
I would be elated to have your family back again for another vacation in the future! The week you vacationed was hot and humid and I hope everyone found a way to stay cool outside on the beach, in your boat, on the bench seats under the shade of the wild cherry tree, and relaxing at the observation deck or crabbing off the boat dock and ramp.
It is my hope everyone is well rested and had a safe trip home.
Thank you for the beautifully clean house and the extra time to prepare for the next family! It was another hazy, hot, and humid day, so departing in the morning was a great choice for your group.
Thank you for the 5 star review and the mention of the quiet beach for your family to enjoy!
I will be sure to mention the great Pizza and Sticky Buns at the Broadkill Store to the next guests!
The crabbing was great this past week, possibly due to the fact of the onset of the second Supermoon on August 1, 2023.
Please have a great remainder of the summer and I hope you can vacation here again!

I am really glad you were able to enjoy the bicycles (not in the listing) we provided to guests this season. I hope you were able to use the open kayaks with your group as well.

Just got back from our mini vacation on Broadkill Beach. The access to both the beach in front and the dock and wetlands in back was the main draw for us. The kids (and even the teens!!) had fun crabbing off the dock and kayaking through the canals. Two thumbs up!

Karen,
Thank you so much for the 5 star review!
Thank you for commenting about the access to both the beach in front and the dock and wetlands in back. The private beach path, beach gear corral and Mobi-mat creates easy access to the water's edge as well as transporting items and storing them nightly.
The area is flat and great for bicycling to the Broadkill Store.
I was also able to watch a turtle lay her eggs on an overcast day in the back yard near the boat dock and crabbing area.
Please return again soon and I am happy you had a great time!
Thank you again for the 5 star rating!

One of the cleanest places I've stayed at from this site. Private dock and beach access were really nice. Beach was clean and not crowded at all. Kayaks and bikes were also a plus! Perfect place for a quiet family vacation. I would reccomend bringing a few baby gates if you have infants/toddlers though as there is a lot of steps in the house.

Girls'Weekend
The home was the perfect setting for us to get away for my daughter's bachelorette weekend. The home had all the amenities we needed and was very clean. We had a wonderful weekend relaxing on the deck, chatting in the large kitchen and family room, walking on the beach and going to local restaurants in Lewes.
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Mar, 2020
Bob and I are happy to hear you had a wonderful experience at our home for your bachelorette party weekend. What a great idea! You just took the time together with good friends to a new level with this event!
Thank you for noticing the open feeling of the living area of our home, with cathedral ceilings and sunken living room, we feel we have created a layout that allows a spacious setting and also provides areas of privacy when guests need their own quiet space.
I was glad to hear you were able to take advantage of the 10’ x 20’ front deck with plenty of space and lounge chairs for everyone in your group to sunbathe as well as the relaxing walks on the seemingly private beach. I am sure you will have plenty of fond memories and pictures of this special occasion located at our beach house on Broadkill Beach.
We are looking forward to your next visit and we are sure you will find the next stay as enjoyable as your first.
The house was very clean and well-stocked. The property manager was available and helpful.
Our family of six was very comfortable and the perfect size for this house.
Broadkill beach was amazing! Warm water and no broken shells on bottom!

Nirmala and Family,
It makes me smile to know you were able to observe the beautiful sunsets over the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge from the observation deck and boat dock with a cocktail in your hand. That is something I look forward to each evening I am there!
Quiet walks in the early morning on the shoreline with a cup of coffee are also cherished at this exclusive experience!
All of this is easily accessible with just steps to the beach and back yard to the tidal creek because we provide you with two properties that are included in your vacation rental agreement.
It doesn't get any better than this!
Thank you for your review and a chance to share my piece of Heaven with you and your family.
I look forward to your return.
The location and proximity to both the private beach and canal make this property a great family vacation spot. for swimming and kayaking from the dock. The kids especially enjoyed the horseshoe crabs! We enjoyed hanging out at the house, trips to the boardwalk, restaurants, etc.
The house was well stocked, clean, and the beds very comfortable. Thanks to Wendy for her great communication and personal greeting. We would definitely recommend this rental!

Very Nice Property in Gorgeous, Quiet Beach Location
The house is in good shape with plenty of room for a full family. The beach across the street is beautiful, as is the river in the backyard. The owners are lovely, friendly and helpful; the house means a lot to them and it shows. Plenty of amenities. Quite a few stairs, which is endemic to the area which can be subject to rare hurricane water damage. Overall a terrific experience, unique for its conveniences combined with quiet, off-the-path location.

The tidal creek in the back yard, great crabbing and fishing, and the off-the-path location is what attracted us to build our second home here and to share it with guests finding us on Vrbo and privately.
Thank you for also noting the conveniences provided that other homes do not offer. We try our hardest to help make your vacation stay the best ever! The weather was also perfect with a super moon on August 1, 2023. I am sure it was amazing to see with no obstructions of your view!
I hope you had a safe trip home and will have a great remainder of the summer!

We had 6 adults and 7 children between 3 and 12. The kids LOVED the house and the beach. We loved that it was not a prodution to go to the beach. No packing up and hauling your life for an afternoon. No torture finding parking. The older kids enjoyed the bike cruisers. The outdoor shower is perfect. Everyone wanted to stay longer. Overall a great week and a beautiful location.

Very relaxing and peaceful
Best vacation!!! Did a great deal of crabbing with much success. The owners were warm and welcoming. They take great pride in their home and want vacationers to enjoy a little piece of heaven. We spent most of the time at the rental. The dock, the beach, the kayaks, etc. were all right there. Outdoor shower a plus. Firepit was used daily. Great experience. THANK YOU!!!!
The house was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate together with our kids and grandkids. There was never a moment of boredom. We fished, went crabbing, played on the beach, cooked and ate delicious meals together. Our regrets were not having time to bike and kayak, not forcing our kids to quit their jobs so we could stay longer and watching our 7-year old grandson cry when we made him turn his “pet” crab loose,

About the host
Hosted by Brandon Wulffleff
We are north of Rehoboth & Lewes, DE. We are east of Milton, DE off Route 16 E. on South Bayshore Drive. I am Wendy & my husband, Bob passed away 8/31/19 & is deeply missed. The true reason we purchased the property at the southernmost end of this beach is that Bob LOVED to fish.
I was allowed to buy an empty lot in 1985, as long as it was the furthest south on the creek, with a sloping sandy shoreline to the tidal water of the back yard so Bob could access his favorite fishing spots directly from his second home on Broadkill Beach.
We purchased this lot in 1985, built the shell of the house in 1986, & completed the efficiency on our own. We had a boat ramp & dock before “finished plumbing” in the house! It became the best investment we could ever make & enjoy!
Access to the Delaware Bay in the front & tidal waters in the back yard of our property allowed us to have all the adventures anyone could hope for in a vacation home.
The amazing bonus is that the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge adjoins our backyard. No one will ever be able to build on this property & it is ours to enjoy as far as the eye can see.
In 1995, with help of friends & family, we completed the interior of the home. When the house needed new siding & roof, we enclosed the staircase to join the main part of the house to the efficiency so there was protection from the weather when accessing these areas.
This was our second home & I would love for your family to come to enjoy it as much as we did.
Lasting memories created by our children playing, swimming, drifting to their grandma’s dock ¼ mile upstream with the tidal water, catching crabs, minnows & snails, inspecting all of their parts & learning how to operate canoes, boats, kayaks, & jet skis from the ramp & dock of our property will always be cherished memories for me.
THE SANDY BEACH IN FRONT WITH A PRIVATE BEACH PATH & BEACH GEAR CORRAL TO ACCESS THE SHORELINE & PERSONAL BOAT DOCK & CEMENT RAMP IN BACK ARE EXCLUSIVELY YOURS!
Why they chose this property
I am Wendy & my husband, Bob passed away 8/31/19 & is deeply missed. This property is one of the greatest blessings we have ever received because of the wonderful experiences we were able to share with our family & closest friends.
FOND MEMORIES of breathtaking sunsets over the National Wildlife Refuge while sitting on the rustic bench seats constructed with love by my father, & then watching the stars appear in the sky, finding the north star, big dipper, & identifying other constellations. Turning to the moon, we would determine its phase & discuss the way to remember the “Waxing” & “Waning” crescent. The children would search for shooting stars & make a wish before heading off to bed in the efficiency room.
PEACE
South Broadkill Beach is amazing in that it gives you the true feelings of peace & serenity as you walk this beach on your own. You may not see another person anywhere! Harmony, tranquility, & calm are what you experience while breathing & meditating on this sandy shore of the Delaware Bay.
PRIVACY
Although individuals do not own the beachfront, this is a very private area, possibly because there is no legal place to park your vehicles unless you own or are a guest of a property owner in this section. There is no public parking.
PERFECT
This is a beach experience you may have never had before. It is perfect for families. It is located on the bay & is great for smaller children to swim & play, older ones to fish, swim, & operate water toys, & for parents to let their guard down a little because your family is easily seen at all times due to the fact that there are few or no people within 100 yards of your beach chair.
SECRET
You will not find this beach crowded & will be able to create your own fond memories to carry you into the future. I hope you and your family can create the same or similar memories here during your vacation stay. Discover why the southernmost part of Broadkill Beach is the best-kept secret in Delaware. Book us at Vrbo 602695.
What makes this property unique
