About this property
Four Bedroom Cottage. Spectacular Ocean & Island Views. Close To Beach & Pubs.
Carnmore is a four bedroom, one and a half bathroom Irish cottage located in the Connemara district of Galway. It is on the Wild Atlantic Way and is located on 16 acres of typically rugged West Galway farmland. Nestled in the Twelve Bens mountain range and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Carnmore is the most relaxing holiday spot one can dream of. Carnmore offers guests the opportunity for gentle hill walking or more challenging mountain climbing, fishing for salmon in local streams, and swimming at the nearby beach. Other recreational options include shopping in the nearby towns of Westport and Clifden or golfing on the challenging links of Connemara Golf Club.
Carnmore was designed as a place to relax. We strongly encourage you to enjoy a cozy fire, read the hundreds of books at Carnmore, share stories about the day or tell tales of the legends of Connemara ... or just relax and soak in the spectacular Connemara views, like the view from the sitting room.

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Connelly
Carnmore is a family home built by my father and from whom I bought the home. We live in the Washington DC area, but also hold Irish citizenship. Work takes me to Europe 5-6 times per year, so stops at Carnmore are often and refreshing. We are blessed that our children love the experience of other cultures, with a son now working in China, two daughters who have studied and worked in France, and a third daughter who took courses in Ireland.
Why they chose this property
Spent several summers working in Ireland as teenager. Carnmore was family home that we cared deeply about keeping with us.
What makes this property unique
Complete get away. By design, we do not have a television, radio, telephone or even a clock in the home. The thousands of books and stunning views are enough to keep guests enjoying Carnmore. Why go to an Irish holiday home to worry about the time!?!
