The apartment is attached to our house. We built it in 2021 for Pauline's parents, so it includes all the comforts of home, including individual A/C and heating units, high-speed internet, and skylights with remotely controlled shades. Ceilings are high and there is lots of natural light.
The mudroom/ entrance is a shared space and our access to our washer dryer in the basement.
We do whatever it takes to keep this welcoming, spacious apartment well-maintained and sparkling clean. We’ve decorated and equipped it as if for our own use, with hi-speed WI-FI, mini-split A/C and heat, plenty of kitchen tools, fluffy towels and crisp sheets. There is a Pak'n'Play crib and a high chair available if you need one; there's a children's playground about 100 yards down the street.
Jamaica Plain is a hip neighborhood of Boston. All its charming shops, cafés, pubs and diverse restaurants are within easy walking distance of the house; nearby too there are bakeries, a brewery, a library, running and bike paths, parks, Jamaica Pond (actually a 68-acre lake), and Harvard University’s Arboretum, a 280-acre natural preserve and botanical research center in the heart of the city. You’ll feel perfectly comfortable and at home as you head out from this quiet oasis to explore one of the world’s most interesting cities!
A car is not necessary to enjoy all the great city of Boston has to offer, but if you drive there is free, off-street parking for two cars.
The Green Street stop on the Orange Line of Boston's subway system (we call it the 'T') is just a block away. And bus line #39, a 6-minute walk up the street, will take you to the Longwood Medical area, the Museum of Fine Arts, Copley Square, the Boston Public Garden and Faneuil Hall.
Or you can rent a city bicycle either on Center Street or at the “T” station and ride all the way to Back Bay along the Southwest Corridor biking path and jogging park.

Attractive lodging in the heart of Jamaica Plain. With the subway just down the block, a great place to stay for a visit to anywhere in the Boston area. Our host was an excellent communicator.
The house was wonderful, clean, had everything o e would need. The area was perfect and safe. I highly recommend this home. Our host was wonderful and easy to communicate with.
Wonderful stay! This owner is a very kind and professional person... (that uses common sense and etiquette with great sincerity). The place is charming, inviting, clean and safe. I feel fortunate to have stayed there!

Family Boston Trip
The house was very close to the orange line subway and a short walk into town.
Woody and Pauline are the best hosts! The location is great - subway station is a block away, restaurants are within walking distance, and everything about the property was comfortable and welcoming.
The home is spacious, had everything you need for a nice family stay. Minutes away from the T stop so very easy to access public transport. Off street parking makes for an easy stay.
Friends and I stayed at Woody and Pauline’s house for a weekend in Boston to see a concert at Fenway. The house was lovely, communication with Woody was wonderful, and the location was perfect to see all different parts of Boston!
The property is clean, cute, and in a very quiet area. We wish we had booked it for longer!

About the host
Hosted by Woody and Pauline Halsey
We moved to France when Woody retired in 2011 so that our twin daughters could learn French and gain an international perspective. The Boston house was our base when we were in the US to see our extended family in New England and California. Now we live here full-time and rent the beautiful apartment we created for Pauline's parents. `We chose Jamaica Plain because Woody's sister and brother-in-law raised their children there; over the years we too have come to love its energy, green spaces, restaurants and super-convenient location.
Why they chose this property
Boston has something for everyone. History, monuments, music and museums. But also professional sports, public gardens and a lively restaurant scene. Boston is home to cutting-edge hospitals, a world renowned symphony and 60 colleges and universities, including MIT and Harvard.
What makes this property unique
Great space, great light, great location. Wonderful restaurants and all necessities are in easy walking distance. No need for a car, but off-street parking if you bring one (or two).
