About this property

Kentfield Haven - Adorable and Cozy Studio

This cozy studio is surrounded by redwood trees and a paved terraced garden. Very light with a full kitchen including a gas stove, microwave, toaster, blender, electric tea kettle, refrigerator. Very comfortable queen size bed. We just installed a lovely merino wool carpet and the unit is newly painted. The studio is below our kitchen. We have added padded mats to our kitchen floor to dull the sound of footsteps above. We are generally very quiet upstairs and very conscious of our guests below - especially mornings and evenings.

All linens, bedding and towels are washed with unscented detergents.

It is located within walking distance of a great grocery store, College of Marin and there are many wonderful restaurants close by. The garden is yours to use at your leisure; surrounded by redwood trees and a view of Mount Tam. There are biking and hiking trails nearby, several movie theaters and the Marin Art and Garden Center. Only 5 minutes from the freeway and 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, and usually 10 to 20 degrees warmer than San Francisco, Sausalito and Mill Valley. If you want a to stay in the Bay Area and avoid the fog, this is the place to be especially if you are interested in exploring Napa, Sonoma and the coastal areas like Stinson Beach and Point Reyes.

NOTE to longer term guests of 7 days or more. You may request cleaning service for an additional fee of $75. You may use the washer and dryer free of charge once a week.

A haven in Marin County

I had a great stay here. The location is convenient. The property has everything I needed with convenient parking. Easy to get on the highway and enjoy Marin County or a trip to San Francisco or a visit to wine country. The host, France, is available and pleasant to interact with.

Wonderful Stay!

Our stay here was one of the most delightful that we have had in our travels. The studio is very clean, comfortable, and magically nestled in next to several redwood trees and other lovely foliage. France, the owner, is a very welcoming hostess and we enjoyed many interesting and informative conversations with her. The location is quiet and conveniently located to many activities in Marin County. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Nice studio close to Mt Tam

I really enjoyed my stay at this studio. It was nice and very comfortable. The hosts were warm, friendly and were a wealth of knowledge about the area. I stayed there because of a work assignment and will definitely stay there again. Close to shops, restaurants and Mt Tam. Perfect for running and biking adventures.

Quiet and pretty in Marin

This is a small apartment with everything anyone could want in a charming package. It is set in a lovely garden that the gracious host encourages her guests to enjoy. There is a kitchen, a good shower, a desk, comfortable chairs for relaxing and, very important, a good bed. I’m looking forward to my return.

Marin As I Remember It

Very comfortable with a rustic, natural feel. The Bay Area has changed so much, it was nice to stay in a place that reminded me of Marin County as it was when I lived there in the 70's and 80's. -- inhabited by redwood trees and nature-loving people. A great spot for getting anywhere in Marin or San Francisco.

Definitely a gem in Marin

I needed a place to stay in the Marin area while I was in-between jobs. France's studio was perfect. Centrally located between all the little towns in Marin. While easy access to Sir Francis Drake Blvd, the location has a feel of being in the woods. I especially loved all the redwood woods outside the studio. The area is quiet, relaxing and the host, France, was there to answer any and all questions.

Lovely and quiet studio

We really enjoyed our extended stay at France’s studio. The garden setting is beautiful, and the studio itself is well appointed- even a little larger than we had anticipated. Everything was very clean and scent free, and the sheets were so soft! The kitchen is small as would be expected in a studio, but we were still able to cook full meals for ourselves. France was very gracious, and a considerate upstairs neighbor. There are many beautiful places to walk within a few minutes drives, too!

Late Spring in Kentfield

A haven, indeed, for a ten-day working vacation. The studio is quiet, calming, with sunlight filtered through two majestic redwoods just beyond the window panes. An ideal work environment for a writer. Although the kitchen is small -- perhaps the coziest aspect of the studio -- it's especially well-equipped: a toaster, coffee brewer, microwave, and a Vitamix blender. Comfortable bed; terrific shower. But perhaps most importantly, France is a welcoming, gracious, thoughtful host. Kentfield Haven ranks among my top VRBO rental experiences.

I am a native San Franciscan and new to Kentfield. I live in the house attached to the studio. I work from home and am available to answer any questions, and help in any way I can to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. I started painting in the begining of 2021 and have found my new passion. Most of my paintings are inspired by photographs that I have taken locally and during my 8 year stay in South Africa and my travels in neighboring countries.

Why they chose this property

I love light and being surrounded by nature. The redwood grove in the garden is unique and I never tire of the view of Mount Tamalpais.

What makes this property unique

We just love this area of Marin. It is warm and quiet and the view of Mount Tam never ceases to make my day. I hike or ride my bike almost every day right from the front door. Unlike San Francisco, parking is plentiful. There are lots of good restaurants nearby and several movie theaters. We couldn't be happier in our new home and our new environment and we look forward to sharing the joy with our guests.
