The home was amazing! Even though we were in the city, you never felt like you were in the city. It was amazing to feel as though you were in a private area that you could relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Napoli. Sonia was an amazing host! Would definitely recommend to everyone looking to travel here.
We loved this part of our trip. The hostess made us feel at home on her family estate. We marveled at the garden, terrace and patio areas and the amount of space( a very large living area, bedrooms and bathrooms. It was convenient for visiting Herculaneum or Pompeii.
It was perfect location to stay while visiting family In Napoli and towns surrounding Vesuvius. Sonia and her family were very nice and accommodating.
The home was a perfect size for the 4 of us.
Grazie per tutto.
The property was beautiful with stunning gardens. Sonia our host spoke very little english but,we managed good communcations. The villa was spacious with a beautiful 2nd floor terrace were you could see Naples. We were there when Pope Francis passed away. There were continuous fireworks and celebrations all around us. This villa was very close to Pompeii and Herculano. Great central location. hetculano
Sonia was a wonderful host. The property and garden is beautiful. We stayed in the separate house with the balcony. The house was neat and clean and more than enough room. She was very helpful with telling us where we could shop for groceries and local restaurants. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay at Villa Rafaela!
Lovely little house in the midst of a tranquil garden. Sonia our host was super helpful and friendly and provided us with additional adaptors when our standard EU ones wouldn't fit. The location is very calm and peaceful and the town with bars and restaurants is only around a 10 minute walk away. Very easy access to Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum and there is a large Deco supermarket around 5 mins drive up the hill. Overall a great location and we very much enjoyed our stay!

A perfect oasis to sightsee from
A perfect place for us that met all our needs. Safe and secure, Very clean, beautiful and tranquil gardens and a great location from which to see all the surrounding sights. Excellent AC in all rooms and excellent wifi for multiple devices. Tv was a bit disappointing because there were only Italian channels and the place is a bit tricky to find initially but overall it is a fantastic place that we would recommend.

Merci pour les bons mots, je suis heureux que vos vacances soient agréables et que la maison répond aux attentes.
Grazie per le belle parole, sono felice che la vostra vacanza sia stata gradevole e che la casa sia stata all'altezza delle aspettative.
The place is exactly what we expected from the listing. The apartment is located in midst of a beautiful garden and in a gated space close to the main house. It is very spacious and very well equipped. There are 3 outdoor eating areas in this apartment which is a wonderful way to enjoy Sonia's flowers and unique garden treasures. Great proximity by car to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. Sonia is a wonderful host and is very knowledgeable on the history of the area. Would definitely book this place again! Thank you Sonia, it was very nice to get to know you and your mom.

It was outside of naples
Even though we had to take a taxi into Naples I couldn’t of asked for more of a helpful owner she brought us fresh oranges off her tree and drove me to the grocery store ordered pizza for me cause I only spoke english. She is an amazing hostess with a beautiful garden and a/ c in the house huge plus. Driving back in Naples was 50 times worse the New York so we went out on a Sunday we’re there was no one out! I would book excursions cause drinking the coast is even worse with no parking. Otherwise for a family there was plenty of room. Thank you again Sonia and her mom who were super kind and helpful
I did not put the address in correctly for my first night arrival and thought it was another location. This is very important, and PLEASE arrive during daylight hours! The property is GORGEOUS, the guest house (this listing) is wonderful. My ONLY complaint, and it wasn't a problem for me at all because I am 5' 4" tall (162.5 cm), is the top floor (bedrooms and one of the bathrooms) is the roof and the ceiling slants down significantly. You will hit your head at the sides of the house if you're not paying attention. A 6" tall person may have a little issue. But, overall, the gardens are gorgeous, the main house (the owner's home) is BEAUTIFUL. The property is secure (gated) and it's really lovely. We drove everywhere so I can't report about getting around via public transportation at all. The host was very communicative via VRBO message or better yet, texting via whatsapp. Highly recommend. (Shower's great -- good pressure and good heat.)

Bella, Bella, Bellisima!
Villa Raffaella is a beautiful little house behind a private area of a family home (una villa grande). The separate residence was not an apartment, but it's own domicile (gated) with private access to the front door by car and taxi in beautiful Ercolano (near San Giorgio a Cremano).
Sonia the wonderful daughter and her regal family live on the premises. She gave us every help and direction we needed including the number of Ciro OUR taxi driver.
Ciro picked us up and dropped us off right at our door for all our trips a Napoli, to Pompeii, to the train station....tutti (and always at a very fair price). He gave us a personal tour explaining everything as he drove us everywhere. In Pompeii he even secured a wonderful tour for us on site, dropped us off and pick us up later. What a gift...grazie Sonia for Ciro and for everything.
Staying at Villa Rafaella felt like we were con famiglia and we came to Ercolano to visit our own family (who still live in San Giorgio a Cremano).
Every morning I would walk downtown. The people, il caffe', the food, and the churches...to me it was like una fetta di paradiso! My family came from Naples and all this was possible because of Sonia and her bella famiglia.
I cannot imagine staying in a better place.
Bravo Ercolano!
Brava Villa Rafaela!
Brava Sonia

Thanks for your friendship! For me it was a pleasure to offer you help to make your vacation enjoyable. We all keep a good memory of you and hope to see you soon.
Grazie per la vostra amicizia! Per me è stato un piacere offrirvi aiuto per rendere la vostra vacanza piacevole. Conserviamo tutti un buon ricordo di voi e speriamo di rivedervi presto.
Lodging is in a second building behind the main residence with patios all around and wonderful places to enjoy the outdoors. The beds are upstairs while there are 2 bathrooms both with showers - one upstairs and one down. The kitchen was well stocked and even supplied with coffee for the morning and a starter kit of breakfast. The Circumvesuviana train station was a 15 minute walk, not difficult, connecting us to everything we wanted. We were able to go to Paestum one day even (for Greek ruin variety from the Roman ruins in Pompeii and Herculaneum). Sonya shared the contact of her friend a taxi driver who took us places as well - he was great! Though neither Sonya nor her friend spoke much English, we used WhatsApp and translation apps to help us through. Our only potential difficulty was that the taxi drivers from Naples had a REALLY hard time locating the address. We had 2 different ones get lost coming from Naples. I found the VRBO directions most accurate, though the drivers really wanted to doubt them! But the place to stay was comfortable and adequate. We used the washer for one load but it leaked on the second load - but Sonya got it fixed while we were gone during the day (after asking if she could come in). The clothes were pretty slow to dry though so between how long the tiny washers in Italy take to wash and drying everything on a rack, we weren't able to get much laundry done there. We ended up going to the laundromat. Would recommend this place to others!

Why they chose this property
"Villa Raffaela " is a family residence built in 1860 and recently renovated. It is located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius in one of the most beautiful areas of Campania. From the garden you can enjoy a beautiful view of Mount Vesuvius and the city of Naples which hide jewelry in history, art and culture that will make your holiday unforgettable. The idea of having the guests came thinking it would be a little ' how to travel staying at home. In fact, there is an opportunity to be able to meet and chat on the Neapolitan territory, its history, about what the area offers such as culture, food, sports and landscape, with the desire to make your stay as pleasant as possible. A "new" way to travel within the reach of all that for tourists is surely preferable to the hotel for the convenience of the price, but above all to feel in a cozy and familiar taste even miles away from home. So it can be a truly unique experience, tranquility, friendliness, warmth and comfort are the recipe for Villa Raffaela, immersed in an elegant, intimate setting.
