Our stay was a perfect Thanksgiving getaway. We had plenty of room for family to enjoy the beautiful house and views, and the kitchen was well-equipped to prepare a large meal. The vicinity to the beach was exactly what I wanted. The house is in very nice shape for a home of this age, with many modern upgrades. The fact we could have our dog come with us was one of the biggest deciding factors for me. It was kind of a spur of the moment decision to take a trip ( about 2 weeks) and honestly can't believe there was availability on such short notice for 7 night's. Would not hesitate to consider coming back. The restaurant at the pier is a short walk, and the food was great.

This home is amazing. It is cozy, very spacious and has everything you need. I think the part we liked best is the wrap around porch, views of the bay and direct access to the beach. We drank our coffee every morning out in the deck looking out into the bay and watching as various ships would cross back and forth. Seeing all the ships was as exciting for the adults as it was for my teenage son. We also walked the beach every morning and got to find treasures to bring back home :). The house’s location is very good as well. Nothing is more than a few minute drive away. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home and we’ll definitely be staying here again in the future.

This is our 3rd year staying at the Big Blue House. Everything we need is right there. Walking on the beach, swimming and our daughter’s family likes to fish off the pier.Quinn was very responsive when we had an issue with the washer. He got it repaired quickly. We really enjoyed our time there. We hope to come back next year!

Our stay was perfect. The rocking chairs on the big, beautiful porch are the perfect place to escape reality while you watch the waves roll in and the big ship glide by on the horizon. The seabirds provide the ideal amount of entertainment. The interior of the house is the perfect blend of a bygone era and modern day conveniences. The house was 5-star clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the food, drink, and live music at the pier next door. Communication with the host was easy and welcoming. We had no problems during our stay, but felt confident that they would have been addressed immediately based on the accessibility of the host. We look forward to booking our next stay soon!

This property was built during the early 20th century. This house was used as an officer's quarters during World War II. General McArthur actually stayed in this house at one time.
Aside from its history, it is only steps from the Willoughby Beach. The view from the back porch is spectacular, especially the sunrises! You will be amazed at how close you are to the water. It will be an experience you will not forget!

What makes this property unique

Prime location in Hampton Roads Virginia. The house is located on Willoughby Spit next to a fabulous fishing pier and restaurant. Downtown Norfolk is 15 minutes, Virginia Beach front is 30 minutes, Hampton is 15 minutes, Newport News, 30 minutes, and Colonial Williamsburg is 45 minutes away. If you want to take a day trip to Charlottesville and visit Thomas Jefferson's home, it is worth it! It is 2 and 1/2 hours each way.
