About the host
Hosted by Laura Morris-Lloyd
We have been married for 33 years and have 3 children. We are both lecturers in the education system. Having renovated our own home we take a keen interest in old unloved properties and bringing them back to life once more.
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Chapel House as soon as I saw the original bread oven and the Christmas tree in the garden. David, on the other hand, took a little more persuading. I watched Homes under the Hammer before attending the auction with my daughter and came home that evening as the proud owner of this wonderful property. However, it needed a lot of TLC. Over the following 18 months we replaced the roof, installed a log burner, central heating and complete rewiring to create a luxurious place to stay. We thought long and hard about the best layout for a holiday let and are very proud of the end result.
What makes this property unique
The stunning views of Caerphilly mountain and the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the personal balcony, leading from the main bedroom. There are numerous walks/activities in the area, many of which are detailed on Caerphilly town is just 15 minutes walk or you can catch the bus which will get you there in 5 minutes. The bus stop for Caerphilly is located directly opposite the front door of Chapel House.
Caerphilly Castle Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. This 12th century castle, surrounded by a series of moats and watery islands was the brainchild of Gilbert ‘the Red’ de Clare, a redheaded nobleman of Norman descent. He also built the original Castell Coch, ‘Red Castle’, located the other side of Caerphilly mountain.
Cardiff is only 15minutes away by car, bus or train.
