Beautiful one bedroom cottage, 5 miles coast, 3 miles dartmoor

An original stone barn, which has been extended and modernised into a spacious picturesque retreat. Situated on a Devon working farm it offers excellent accommodation within the landscaped gardens and lawns.
The Garden Cottage offers you an airy vaulted double bed room unit with the addition of a sofa bed for the extra person.
There is a fully equipped modern kitchen and shower room.
The modern light living area overlooks the lawn, gardens and the well-stocked Carp, Trench and Bream pound. You are welcome to bring your rods along and enjoy the plentiful secluded fishing overlooking Ugborough Beacon.
Located just outside the village of Ugborough it has three excellent eating establishments within a short drive. The Ship Inn, Ugborough, The Anchor, Ugborough and the Turtly Corn Mill, South Brent.
The South Hams offers many superb tourist attractions and the Sheperds Cottage being situated on the edge of Dartmoor has excellent access to the A38 which allows you to explore the stunning south hams and beyond.
Within a 20 minute drive you can be exploring the historic maritime city of Plymouth, Bigbury beach with Brugh Island made famous by the Agatha Christie Novels, Dartmoor or walking the beautiful cliff paths of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo.
Closer to home there is the River Erme and Mothecombe beach well known for productions – like ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and ‘Hornblower’ which have been filmed there.
The delightful little Georgian town of Modbury, with its specialist and antique shops and splendid inns, is under 5 miles, whilst nearby is Ivybridge, known as the southern gateway to Dartmoor, offers excellent sports facilities, an indoor pool and a renowned garden centre.
Alternatively, you can step out of the door and take in the local scenery.

Brilliant property

Set on a working farm it was superb. We enjoyed the property and the fishing was great. We caught good size Carp and lots of small Roach. It was a very relaxing place to stay.

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage. Easy to get to both Dartmoor and the coast from there. Lovely garden. Within walking distance of Ugborough and the pubs there. We had a relaxing stay and would return if staying in the area again.

Lovely little place with everything you could ever need. Handily located for the coast, Dartmoor and Plymouth. Ugborough is a lovely village with two great pubs, we ate in The Anchor and it was delicious with super pints of Jail Ale (if that's your thing!).

Perfect Little Spot

We’ve been looking for somewhere to stay whilst we visit family in Plymouth, as we have a baby under 1 we needed kitchen facilities. The Garden Cottage is situated in such a beautiful location that is rural but you are only five minutes from the main road. The whole property was spotless, we had such a variety of amenities and a lovely welcome card and biscuits. We really enjoyed our stay and it felt like a home away from home.

Perfect property with fishing a bonus!

We enjoyed a lovely, peaceful week. The property was spotless on arrival and had everything we needed including a fabulous power shower. There were plenty of utensils, pots, pans etc for self catering. The fishing lake was a real bonus for us and we caught some lovely carp. For us the location was perfect but it's worth mentioning that the driving can be a little tricky and the nearest large supermarket is about 15 minutes drive away but this is to be expected in a rural location. We would consider returning for a week of rest and relaxation.

Rural retreat

Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Garden Cottage. It's a lovely cosy well equiped little place tucked away down a lane only leading to the farm. The welcome tray was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent We found it was a convenient location for us to base ourselves to catch up with family but be aware that you will be driving along some very narrow lanes!

Lovely bolt hole!

A lovely place to stay - the sat nav found it easily which was a relief. The owner was very friendly, and the cottage was clean and fitted out with all that you could want. The fishing lake was well stocked and we enjoyed some peaceful fishing there. That area of South Devon has much to explore but it was just as nice to relax in the cottage and surrounding garden. All in all, a wonderful break!

Perfect base for exploring South Devon

The Garden cottage is in the perfect location for exploring South Devon, situated just a couple of minutes from the A38. The cottage itself is in a very peaceful location, with very dark skies and no road noise to be heard. Nice kitchen, comfy settee (the living room is basically a conservatory on the front of the old barn, which makes for nice all round views of the garden) and a copy bed. Great for couples.

Calm, green and friendly

The house is very cozy, we especially loved the garden and the view on the garden from everywhere in the little cottage. It's green, it's peaceful and also very clean and neat. Rachel and Alex were friendly and very discreet. You can visit the coast, nice little villages as well as places in the Dartmoor national park. We liked the footpath to the nearest village Ugborough. And the people in Devon are so friendly! We strongly recommend a visit!!

Immaculate cottage in beautiful location, perfect for exploring Dartmoor and the South Devon coast

Me, my mum and my dog Maude recently came home from a lovely week long stay at The Garden Cottage. The cottage was immaculately clean which is a top priority in current times. The bed was comfortable and the cottage had everything you could need. Rachel was a lovely host and saw that we had settled in to the cottage well. We were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens surrounding the cottage, eating outside on sunnier evenings and going for walks around the fishing pond which was a real treat! We would highly recommend The Garden Cottage to anyone wanting to explore this part of the country and we would love to visit again.
