It’s always nice to discuss needs before booking requests. We can be found on SAYULITA LIFE to share information prior to booking. As you read more about the Zafiros Estate you'll quickly find that our special Sayulita properties are unique and unlike any others you may be considering. Our original home, the multi-story Villa Zafiros was designed and remodeled by us in 2013, and our adjacent home, Casa Joyero, was built from the ground up in 2015. Each home has 3 bedrooms, but only Casa Joyero can be divided into a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom accommodation. While we can easily accommodate respectful groups up to 12, we welcome families or couples to inquire as well.

To simplify your search, our prices reflect BOTH PROPERTIES being available for your use, and we allow up to 10, sometimes 12 guests. Our homes are not party houses and we require a list of everyone that will be staying at our home(s). If it's just for your family and you don't need both properties, please explain in your initial request how many guests you'll have and, more importantly, how many bedrooms you will be needing. This information will help us help you design a layout that works best for you.

In the summer of 2013 we enlisted the help of an award winning architect and his amazing crew of craftsmen. Six months later our dream came alive.
Once a surfer’s hangout, Villa Zafiros now consists of four spectacular levels, each designed with every detail in mind. Casa Joyero, built soon thereafter, was designed to create an inviting and easy flow between both properties.

The Estate's location is prime and in Sayulita that’s important. Although surrounded by lush green space, you’re only one block from the plaza, the church, restaurants and the vibrant energy that is Sayulita. Two more short blocks and you’re standing before the Pacific Ocean. The beach, the surf and the sun… all waiting for you. Because of the central location it’s an easy walk for most people. Staying at the Zafiros Estate will offer you easy access to convenience stores, local grocers, French bakeries and more. Enjoy being a part of the community, greeting the locals as you walk down Calle Gaviotas, watching children play and families gather.
There’s no doubt about it. You’re in the heart of Mexico.

Great family vacation spot

Other than being loud (as noted by the owner) this is the perfect vacation home. Close to the beach and town center, secluded, comfortable and very well appointed. We would stay again!

Fabulous Experience

The property was exactly as advertised, and we had a great week! The house and rooms were all well appointed, the location couldn’t have been better, and communication with the property manager was always on point. The only thing to mention is that because we were so close to town, music from town went late, so recommend earplugs if you are staying on the top floor. We had a truly wonderful week, and it was perfect for a group of friends that wanted to spend together time as well as easily explore and hit the beach separately at any time! Thank you so much for the experience!

Fabulous house, ocean views, in the centre of town

Ah-maz-ing house in the centre of Sayulita. Wonderful set up for a large family or multiple couples. Many wonderful little details in the home - beautiful showers and bathrooms, spacious pool deck and grill area, perfect dining area, amazing master suite which was wonderful to wake up to every morning! The property manager was very helpful and attentive for any questions or issues that could possibly come up. Would definitely book this gorgeous property again when coming to the beautiful town of Sayulita!!

Beautiful home right in town!

This house was perfect for our group of 11 women! The layout worked out really well and we can’t wait to go back! It would be great for a group of couples too. Being able to walk to everything in town, walk to the beach, and walk to Yoga was so convenient and made everything really easy. We had a van pick us up in Puerto Vallarta and drop us off at the house. We did the same thing when we were leaving Sayulita. Each night we went out to dinner but we easily could have stayed another night and made a meal at the house! Both house kitchens were well equipped and there is an outdoor grill that we didn’t get a chance to use. There were so many little nooks to sit and hang all over the house and by the pool! So enjoyable and relaxing. I’m sure we’ll be back!!! I’ve traveled all over the world and Mexico is always one of my faves. I highly recommend Sayulita and this house if you plan on visiting there.

The perfect oasis in a truly magical town!

We stayed here for my bachelorette weekend and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing house in a perfect location; right in town and walking distance to restaurants, shops and the beach. We rented the entire property for a big group of girls and it was the perfect accommodation for a big group. The houses are incredibly beautiful and layout of the property is well thought out with amazing views of the ocean and town. We were constantly in awe of the sweet and charming details throughout the houses, from the outdoor/indoor kitchen space to the local art displayed around the house, swimming pool and outdoor patio with a grill. Each room has a uniqueness to it and the shared spaces really allowed our group the opportunity to convene and hang out. We were so in love with the houses that each night we couldn't wait to get back and hang out by the pool and enjoy the space. I can’t say enough about what incredible hosts Mike and Lola are and how pleasant they were to work with. Mike is incredibly warm and was very thorough in providing all the information to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I couldn't have imagined another place I would rather have been than at Casa Joyero and Villa Zafiros for my bachelorette weekend in Sayulita. Needless to say, I truly cannot wait to come back and stay here again.

Wonderful vacation in Sayulita

When our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children - 6 and 8 years old) agreed on Sayulita for our week-long, bi-annual vacation, we had no idea what an amazing experience was in store for us at Villa Zafiros and Casa Joyero. Mike and Lola set us up with everything we needed prior to our arrival in Mexico, including transportation to/from the airport (along with a stop for groceries on the way), a detailed overview of Sayulita’s attractions, and some best-practice instructions to consider. The photos you see on various booking sites do NOT do this home justice! From multiple breath-taking views looking out over the village/Pacific Ocean, to the open-air concept throughout the home, down to the thoughtfully-designed and beautifully decorated living spaces, the two combined properties amaze at every turn. Our group divided up the living spaces as follows: one adult couple took the Villa Zafiros master, an adult took one of the two rooms on the Villa’s main floor, an adult couple and their two kids split the Diego/Frida twin rooms on the Casa Joyero side, and an adult took the studio/casita at the front of Casa Joyero. Being able to enjoy the full experience of both the Casa and Villa portions of this home in Sayulita, we all agree, was one of the best parts of choosing to stay here. Each morning, the entire family gathered in the large, outdoor eating area in the middle of Casa Joyero to prepare and share meals while dinners, snacks, and evening cocktails were enjoyed throughout the open-air gathering areas (pool deck, grill/patio area above Casa Joyero, and the main dining areas on the Villa Zafiros side). The shared living spaces made enjoying everyone’s company simple, while the separate/private sleeping areas made it easy to rest and relax at the end of each day. One of our favorite things about Villa Zafiros/Casa Joyero is its proximity to all the best Sayulita has to offer. Everything was an easy walk from the property even for the kids. If you are looking at visiting Sayulita, my family and I would HIGHLY recommend staying at Villa Zafiros/Casa Joyero (for the best experience and/or for larger groups, try to get both properties at the same time). The overall experience of staying in this home (the views, the decor, the extremely helpful and courteous staff/property manager) and its proximity to everything that is quintessential to Sayulita living places it at the top of a very short list of best accommodations in the area. The Perfect Piece of Sayulita Paradise!

Just got back from a 5-day stay at Casa Zafiros. What a treasure! The house is an artistic masterpiece...the colors, the art, the tiles, the pool, the three floors plus numerous outdoor areas for grilling, dining, yoga, mediating, you name it. For those unfamiliar with Sayulita, it's mostly built around a beautiful town-plaza. Casa Zafiros is about a block or two from the plaza, and a super easy three blocks to the beach. Restaurants and bars are all around you, but since it's up a small hill you still feel you're secluded in a jungle paradise. The master suite is under a beautiful palapa and glassed in, so every morning you wake to a beautiful view of the ocean, and my two boys loved the pool (and wifi, of course). The caretaker team was easily accessible, and responded to any inquiries in no time--and even arranged a Chef to come to the house and cook a delicious, authentic meal. Mike B is a super-accommodating host, quick with Sayulita advice, restaurant recommendations and the like. All in all, I'd book Zafiros with 100% confidence-it's a true, centrally located Sayulita dream house!

Most Amazing House in the Most Amazing City

I cant say enough about Mike and his hospitality and availability. He clearly knows how to make someone feel welcome, relaxed, and confident about a stay. The details and finishes in the house are far better than you see in the majority of Mexico. Ramon and supporting staff were incredibly quick to respond to any needs. The city itself is one of the most welcoming with incredibly nice people and the BEST food I have had. We will definitely be staying he again.

Incredible Family Vacation - Thanks to this property!!!!!

We rented both properties, Villa Zafiros and Casa Joyero for our family of eight adults and two babies (ages 1 year, 5 months and 11 months) for just over a week in November. From the second we were picked up the airport by Mike and Lola's recommended car service (highly suggested) we had the vacation of our dreams. Both properties are truly immaculate and with 10 people total there was more than enough comfortable space. Decor/ Architecture : It’s almost impossible to put into words how stunning Mike and Lola’s properties are. Incorporating the environment, like the tree in the courtyard of Casa Joyero and the use of outdoor and indoor space at Villa Zafiros as well. It was unlike anything we had ever seen. The photos speak for themselves but I can say - even with the images going in the properties far exceeded our expectations. Our jaws dropped walking in — and we were still pinching ourselves on the day we left. There is intimacy at both properties with common space — bringing everyone together and yet you have your own privacy when time. The decor is so tastefully done — from the throw pillows to Moroccan style lighting to their tile — it’s next level. The master suite on the top floor of Villa Zafiros is hands down the best space I have ever seen let alone stayed in. Their use of windows and natural light was stunning, the fountain!!! — and the view of the city and ocean — breathtaking. We all really loved the pool deck — it’s the most perfect size and space. We found ourselves congregating here a lot of the time - and the babies could not get enough of the pool. There is a little wade ledge/ pool shelf that was so perfect for them. The pool deck also extents to a separate sun and relaxation hang space with an outdoor grill. We spent a lot of mornings as a family drinking coffee and overlooking the city from here. Every room has heart and soul and such style — there was no fighting over who stayed where (okay, but the master is pretty outstanding) and not one person felt slighted. It’s unlike any property! Location: We did not realize going in that we had the crown jewel of locations. Just off the square and no more than a 5 minute walk to the beach. We did rent a golf cart (great for the babies) but really found ourselves walking everywhere. There is an incredible French bakery just steps away with great espresso. We ate out a lot and enjoyed every restaurant we went to — the food was incredible and the walk back was so mellow. <3 this spot

Spectacular Villa!

Our family had a lovely stay at Villa Zafiros! Everything about the home, from it's unique and special decor, the amazing views, the refreshing swimming pool, was perfect. You can tell that Mike and Lola have put a lot of special care and personal touches in this home. We have rented quite a few vacation homes in various parts of the world and we have to say that the beds in this home were the most comfortable that we have come across! The location of the Villa is fabulous. Definitely convenient to walk into town for a bite to eat, a walk on the beach or to be able to sit on the patio and hear the waves and sounds of Sayulita. We've been to Sayulita before, but prior to our arrival we were provided a very detailed list of restaurants, activities, shopping vendors, etc. Some we hadn't yet heard of. Our family will definitely be returning to Villa Zafiros!

Stunning Property

Nine of us moved into the combined properties of Villa Zafiros and Casa Joyero for a week over the holidays. Whether you rent just the villa or just the casitas or both - you will fall in love. It's not only the extraordinary architecture and interior design but also the location. We've stayed in Sayulita before - but never in the heart of the village. This place is a complete oasis and yet only steps from the vibrant village. You walk out the gates and down the small slope and you are immersed in the heart of Sayulita. Return to the property and suddenly you are again in your own world. Mike and Lola's sense of design and their rich selection of art, furniture and fabrics transport you. From the breathtaking views from the top floor outdoor space to the pool deck to the grand dining table in the breezeway of Casa Joyero you are surrounded by beauty and comfort. Mike and Lola's relationships in the village also add to the experience. Their manager Ramon is a wonderful person - accessible, kind, and generous. He drove me all the way to a bank in Bucerias one afternoon when all the ATM machines in the village were empty. He would not take anything more than gas money. He's just that way. And I learned so much about the area spending that time with him. Outside the property just steps away are some of the very best places to eat! Tacos for lunch everyday at Il Itacate are a must. Dinner at Gusto in the square also a must. Mary's and Leda and on and on - all just steps from this very exotic and private property. You should go!

Unforgettable Family Vacation- Villa Zafiros Sayulita

We had such an amazing time staying at Villa Zafiros. We are a family of 8 and it can be very challenging finding just the right vacation spot for us. The house is like no other vacation rental that I have seen before. Every detail is done perfectly from the tile in the kitchen to the morrocan light fixture hanging in the upstairs terrace. It was like living amongst art. I still want to duplicate pillows on the couch in the living room. One of my favorite memories from the trip is my husband reading on the daybed on the newly built terrace, my two youngest were swimming in the pool and my 4 oldest were playing a card game in the living room. It was exactly what we were hoping for and more. The owners truly make you fall in love with Sayulita prior to your arrival. We had an endless list of restaurants and activiites already created for us. We loved being in town. We had no need for a car or a golf cart. We walked everywhere. We were at the beach every day and then we would be laying by the Villa Zafiros pool by late afternoon. Every night we tried a new restaurant and I can truly say that Sayulita is a foodie mecca. Our older children would venture out for late night tacos that would never disappoint. We loved every restaurant we ate at, however, YOU must go to Los Corazones for the cucumber and jalapeño margarita. There are no words!! Sayulita is a lively town and we were right in the heart of it. When you stay at Villa Zafiros not only are staying in a beautiful home you are also being well taken care of by the owners and their property managers. Every detail is covered and it makes for a truly relaxing and enjoyable vacation. We will definitely be back!

Villa Zafiros Sayulita

Firstly, the house itself is amazing, each floor and level perfectly crafted and conceived, very comfortable. have no doubts regarding the house itself - the 3rd level's view is extraordinary, i'll go back just for that! Now, the pueblo of Sayulita: sleepy, slow, friendly, communal, easy and calm and dusty. what I liked best about Sayulita was the fact that it all blended, the gringos with the townspeople themselves, the surfers and the foreigners all mixed in a calm and unforgettable ambiance.. Unbelievable Property and Location

This was our first trip to Sayulita, and I cannot imagine experiencing such a cool town any other way. We stayed for ten days, loving every minute of it, and still don't feel like we got to enjoy all of the unique offerings of the town or even the property itself. Each floor and seating area offers its own thoughtful and beautiful ambiance to take in sunsets or expansive views of the ocean. The impressive architecture, design, and selection of art combine to create an aesthetic that brought us immediate peace and happiness. Staying in to float in the pool or have cocktails on the upper balcony can be just as rewarding as a visit to one of the many excellent restaurants or bars just steps away. Literally, steps away - we ended each night with drinks from a tiny, friendly bar just a couple of doors down. The owners have truly thought of everything to ensure your visit exceeds expectations. We'd second the recommendation of another reviewer to hit the Mega (grocery) on the way in to stock up on beer and snacks to your liking. There's also a convenience store very close by for anything you might have missed. In town, we had no need for taxis or even the golf cart rentals offered nearby to explore the different areas. The location is just unrivaled given its balance of incredible views and proximity to the heart of Sayulita. Rather than using this review to call out any specific restaurants or shops, trust that the owners can help you find the best of the best with their thoughtful guidebook created specifically for the property. We cannot recommend Villa Zafiros enough. The bar has been set so high, it will be a challenge for us to find a better escape for our next trip.

We have been to Sayulita several times, but our vacation would not have been the same without Villa Zafiros. The owners have gone above and beyond to make the experience easy and comfortable for renters from the moment you step out of the airport until you are (reluctantly) returning home. In advance of our trip, the property manager helped to arrange a roundtrip car service from the airport. After a day of travel and trek through customs, we were so happy to see the friendly face of our driver. We knew our vacation had finally started and the relaxing could begin. We took him up on the offer to stop at a grocery store called Mega to stock up on beer/wine and a few food items, but you can also find just about anything you need in Sayulita. In the end, we didn't need much considering all of the great food available from small vendors to fine dining restaurants. The property manager also met us at the home when we first arrived to walk us through the property and answer any questions. It was nice to know someone was available to help us if we needed it. It is impossible to summarize the property and piece of art that is Villa Zafiros. The attention to detail around every corner creates a stylish and design-envy space while also offering comfort and practicality. The location couldn't be better. You wake up every morning and go to sleep each night to the sounds and sights of Sayulita...waves crashing, birds singing and maybe even an iguana or two in the trees nearby if you are lucky. Ultimately, you feel as if you have all of the luxuries of a five star resort without actually having to stay at a resort. If you are interested in a unique, stylish, comfortable, convenient and adventurous stay in Sayulita, then we would highly recommend Villa Zafiros.

Villa Zafiros Estate is our home and is filled with cherished possessions. Why they chose this property

We purchased the original property in 2013 and lived on-site for five months while Villa Zafiros was painstakingly rebuilt. But VZ wasn’t our first project. We’ve designed and built award winning properties in other locations. We understand style and how to work with the environment we find ourselves in. Utilizing local, high quality craftsmen and choosing an architect that “gets it", the results are noticed and appreciated. Visitors from all over the world have spent time in our homes.
Although Sayulita has many "rentals", our home is distinctly different. With attention to detail that very few homes in Sayulita have, Villa Zafiros (and now Casa Joyero) stand out. If you are detail minded and understand style and creative vision, then you're our type.

What makes this property unique

Let’s talk about the two most valuable asset Villa Zafiros Estate has to offer. Location, location, location....and room for expansion if needed by combining Villa Zafiros with our NEW property adjacent to it, Casa Joyero!! This offers scenarios from the original 3 bedrooms at VZ, to a 4, 5 or 6 bedroom scenario.

Our Estate's location is prime and in Sayulita that’s important. Although surrounded by lush green space, you’re only one block from the plaza, the church, restaurants and the vibrant energy that is Sayulita. Two more short blocks and you’re standing before the Pacific Ocean. The beach, the surf and the sun… all waiting for you. Because of the central location it’s an easy walk for most people. If you prefer, however, we can recommend a nearby golf cart or car rental agency. VZ includes a parking space just outside the gates.

Staying at VZ will offer you easy access to convenience stores, local grocers, French bakeries and more. Enjoy being a part of the community, greeting the locals as you walk down Calle Gaviotas, watching children play and families gather. There’s no doubt about it. You’re in the heart of Mexico.

Of course, there are other neighborhoods in Sayulita. The Gringo Hill area has rental homes but it’s a steep climb. And people staying out North or South tell us it’s a long walk and they miss being near the beach and village. The road leading up to Villa Zafiros is cobblestone, just like the main roads winding through Sayulita. Some roads leading to other rental properties are dirt and a few are almost impassable depending on the season.
