Inside and out, Big Bertha's expertly combines convenience and comfort with playful cabin chic. Guests love the luxurious linens and special amenities at Big Bertha's!
Amenities include a bocce ball court, hot tub, gas grill, well-stocked kitchen, charming dining room writing desk, reading spots, games and books, smart TVs, high-speed internet, gas fireplace, and kids game room. Big Bertha's is equally equipped to accommodate families, groups of friends, couples, lovers, food lovers, wine lovers, writers, philosophers, morning people, evening people, middle-of-the-day people and, well, pretty much anyone!
Big Bertha's sits on a hillside and is two levels. From the driveway, two flights of stairs lead to the deck and front door. Just inside the front door is a quaint mudroom with hooks for coats, a spot for muddy shoes, and the washer/dryer.
Upstairs - The recently remodeled kitchen features stainless steel appliances, attractive cabinetry, and opens the dining area. The bar counter transitions smoothly to the dining area, where the dining table comfortably seats 8. Don’t miss the coffee station! A sliding door leads to the deck with a gas BBQ, picnic table, and (seasonal) folding Adirondack chairs. An open doorway from the dining area leads to the living room with extra features like a chess table and writing desk. A short hallway, accessible from both the living room and the kitchen, leads to two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with two twins) and a full bathroom (shower over tub).
Downstairs - A spiral staircase connects the upstairs living room and downstairs “suite.” Featuring a game room, with a double futon for additional sleeping space, smart TV with Netflix (no cable), a Foosball table, and a small master suite with a queen bed, and a small, yet full, bathroom with a shower. Sliding doors lead to a small lower deck with two (seasonal) Adirondack chairs - a great spot for a morning cuppa!
Outdoors - The main outdoor living areas are on the same level as the upper story of the house. In addition to the deck with gas BBQ, outdoor gas fireplace, and al fresco dining, there is a side yard with a bocce ball court and a back patio with a hot tub and outdoor shower.
Big Bertha's is named for the original owner, Bertha. She and her husband built the house in 1952. When walking though the hallway, notice the artwork, which are framed pieces of the original flooring found during the remodel.

Great place to stay, but smaller than advertised. Good for 3 adults and 2 children. And very hard to find! Have to be careful about the driveway, it is steep. Otherwise, house is lovely and perfect for stay. Close to river access!
Our family spent 4 nights at Bertha’s and we will definitely be going back. The house was amazing and very well equipped. It felt clean and cozy and loved.

Hello Diana, We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Big Bertha's! Thank you for being great guests :)
The wooded surrounding made you feel somewhat isolated despite nearby houses. While the house is not large the layout was perfect for myself, 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Good space to play games inside and out. Loved the decor. Very clean.

Hello Mary, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for being such fantastic guests :)
Big Bertha's was just as described, rustic and cozy. We enjoyed the backyard games and large fire place outside. Our group all felt that the wooden staircase leading up to the house was a bit neglected and the kitchen is not stocked like some of the other homes we've rented. Overall, we had a great time.

Hello Kathy, We are sad to hear of your disappointment with the outdoor stairs and kitchen amenities- We are available to help guests and would have loved to during your stay! We are glad you enjoyed your stay overall and would love to host you again perhaps at another home :)
Looking out the living room windows was like being in a tree house. We loved the outdoor games and that there was a hot tub although we never ended up having time to use it.

Hello Janis, Thank you for staying with us and being great guests! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you all again :) We truly appreciate your feedback
We loved this place. The property was very cute and comfortable and in such a beautiful place. The internet went out the second day we were there so we were unsure on trash procedures as we couldn’t read our email. The out door fire pit was nice for relaxation and roasting marshmallows. The kitchen had almost everything we needed and the outdoor grill was great. I made two tri-tips and they came out perfectly.

Hello Kristin, We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for letting us know about the internet so we could have the issue resolve for you! We appreciate you and thank you for being wonderful guests :)
Overall, we had a nice time staying at Big Bertha’s. It definitely has that homey feel of someone’s old family cabin. The outdoor area is wonderful! Trees, shade, grill, and spa were all great. Kitchen is stocked with most items. We had an issue with the oven the first day but the management had it fixed promptly the next day. There are signs and notes all over the house with do’s and dont’s (mostly dont’s) which I get when you have a lot of folks coming through the rental. There were several about conserving water but when we notified management the upstairs toilet was constantly running there was no response. Overall, it served our needs but I’d stay somewhere a little more updated next time. Personal preference.
7 family and friends rented Big Bertha to celebrate 2 birthdays in the group. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue! The cabin was spotless, in a superb location for river and town access and super cute. A large movie, board game and book collection, bocce ball and tetherball kept us entertained in the evenings. The big outdoor wood fire place was perfect for s’mores after relaxing in the super clean hot tub. Great outdoor shower too! The cabin was thoughtfully well stocked with all the essentials and more. We didn’t need to use half the kitchen supplies or linens we brought. The floor plan is well laid out for singles, couples and kids. Great communication prior and during our trip. Information for everything was easily found and every detail had been thought of. Everyone had a fabulous time. We will definitely rent this one again!

We loved Big Bertha! We would totally stay here again, great place when you have a teen and an infant. Large, beautiful and clean windows with great views of the trees, right around the corner from town. Thank you so much for having us!!

Get relaxed in the forest
We enjoyed our stay at Big Bertha's yes we did! We will love to stay there again for a family get-together. We hope that others enjoy their stay as much as we did. The only thing that we didn't get to do was go in the hot tub it was a bit chilly however when we come back we would love to stay when it's a little bit warmer outside. My daughter loved the place and loved all the food that her mom made there. Kelsey did have one request that she would love for you to paint the door red.

Great place for families
Big Bertha's was perfect for our 3 generations. Comfortable, well supplied and a super fenced yard. Be aware of the stairs up to the main floor. Our only suggestions: put a baby gate at the top of the spiral staircase and REPLACE THE ADULT BEDS. We loved this place but will not go back if the beds are not replaced.

Beautiful, cozy, relaxing cabin where you can live in the trees and be close to town!
We really enjoyed our stay at Big Bertha's cabin. The home is well-appointed and very comfortable. We loved sitting out on the deck with a fire, grilling and using the hot tub. The driveway is a little tricky, but most are in that area. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful house in beautiful setting
We spent the last 3 days here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It suited our needs very well. We were staying with our son and his family (including almost 2 yr old Zoe). There are two levels. My wife and I stayed downstairs. The two upstairs bedrooms were perfect for
Zoe and her parents.
This house has great indoor and outdoor living areas. Plenty of room to spread out and to enjoy different times of day in the various settings.
House is well equipped and has lots of helpful instructions posted. The negatives were few and all related to kitchen equipment. None of the knives are sharp and there is no sharpener. The can opener needs to be replaced. There was no medium sized saucepan. Fairly minor inconveniences, but I am listing them here because I doubt the owners are aware of these things and they can be easily remedied.
We will definitely consider staying here again.

Lovely spot in the trees
Big Bertha was the perfect spot for my almost two week vacation. The first half of my trip was with my two adult kids and a couple of friends of my daughter to celebrate her birthday and and have some family time. The place worked very well for this; plenty of space to spread out but also nice communal areas.
After the family left; I hosted three of my lady friends for the next five days. Perfect again for the amount of people. We had a wonderful time using the hot tub, making food and of course lots of laughter and wine form the local wineries.
My daughters small dog was my only companion for the whole trip and he loved the place, especially the squirrels in the trees and the sun lounging on the deck.

the house was as advertised.
This is a nice house with lots of history. The driveway is steep, but easy to use and not a problem. It was a little hard to find, we drove by it twice, but once we found it, the rest was simple. The house was well equipped, clean and warm. It was a good location to explore the coast and small towns around the area. We had a wonderful time.

About the host
Hosted by Russian River Vacation Homes
We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.
Our Story: In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.
Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.
We strive to make each and every stay the best one ever. If you have any questions or concerns about reserving or staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! We are here to help.
Why they chose this property
