Our Silver Lake cottage home is one of the last remaining William Walker cottages built circa 1900 as part of the original Silvercryst resort. The classic cottage was recently extensively expanded and renovated to make it an updated all season home with modern amenities while still maintaining historical character (including refinished original douglas fir floors). PLUS, BRAND NEW OPEN KITCHEN COMPLETED 2023.
MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS are provided near end of this Description.
Located on Big Silver Lake which features 350 acres of boating, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, swimming, water sports, and kayaking in the crystal clear natural spring fed and sand bottom lake.
Our home faces the lake toward the Southwest which provides amazing sunsets. We also have 75' feet of sandy beach frontage, with a private pier and swimming raft. There is space to dock or beach your own fishing boat, ski boat, or pontoon boat. Owner's 3-person WaveRunner PWC and/or Pontoon Boat is available for rental to qualified renters.
Our home features 3 formal bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms. In addition, we have a large bunk room in the lower level (accessed from home's main stairway or from a separate external entrance) which has 2 additional sleeping areas. The home sleeps up to 12 people comfortably. All mattresses are relatively new with little use.
The all season porch (with radiant heated floor) is the best room featuring walls of windows, vaulted ceiling, fans, cozy seating area, and dining for 8 - 10.
The interior of the home features a gas fireplace, 3 flat screen smart TV's, whole house sound system, high speed 300 MB WiFi, central air conditioning, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The bunk area features a PS2 gaming system, flat screen tv, stereo, electric fireplace, mini fridge, and additional seating.
The exterior features a 7 person hot tub, outdoor shower, large deck, charcoal grill, fire pit, landscaped lot with mature trees/shrubs, large level lot to lake, and a unique 4 person yard swing constructed from an antique ski lift chair. There are only 2 steps down to the pier.
Two kayaks, two stand up paddle boards, and two hybrid/mountain bikes are available for use.
The house is a short walking distance to the Silvercryst resort for dinner, drinks, entertainment, and the famous beach bar.
The home is just minutes from Wautoma which features additional restaurants, shopping, antiquing, and golfing.
This cottage lake home has it all and is only a 2 hour drive Northwest of Milwaukee, 1.5 hours from Madison, 3.5 hours from Chicago, and 4 hours from Minneapolis. If you get tired of Silver Lake, Wisconsin Dells is an hour drive.
Includes all kitchen items, washer/dryer, bed linens, and bathroom towels.
No smoking and no pets please.

PLEASE NOTE MINIMUM NIGHT STAY REQUIRMENTS. During peak Summer season (~July - August), we generally require a 7 night minimum stay. We periodically make exceptions to this, but only for mid-week stays. Meaning, Monday - Friday, we may allow 4-5 night stays as our schedule allows.
During the off-season (not July/August), we offer shorter stays (minimum of 3 nights in off-season).

WINTER FUN TOO!
Snowmobiling: State & Club Snowmobile trails accessible from the Silver Lake corridor.
Skiing/boarding: Nordic Mountain is a 10 minute drive. It's a very nice local hill which also has snow-tubing for those who don't ski. Cascade Mountain is larger and is a 45 minute drive. Granite Peak is even larger and boasts the most vertical feet in WI and is just over an hour drive.
Snowshoe/hike/cross country ski : Ice Age trail access point is a 15 minute drive.
Ice Fishing on Silver Lake and Irogami lake is very popular.

Silver Lake vacation 2025

Our grandkids loved the lake for jet skiing, wake boarding and fishing. Another highlight was the hot tub. We enjoyed ice cream at Milty's right down the road and also nearby Barbecue that was just excellent! Thank you Rick and Angela!

Excellent stay and cleanliness!!!

Property was beautiful and clean just as the explained. It was still cold outside but we enjoyed the hot tub which was super clean. Great restaurants in the area and my wife enjoyed the shopping. Wish we could be there in the summer to enjoy the lake because it’s a beautiful lake. Thank you Mr Rick for a wonderful stay and place!

Good to be back on big silver!

We had weeklong family reunions at big Silver for about 80 years. Eventually, we lost our cottage rental because it got sold. We hadn’t been able to find another place on the lake until this year. We were so blessed. It’s an absolutely beautiful property and wonderful house. It met all of our needs and more. Especially enjoy the Jacuzzi and the location of the cottage. We hope to go back again next year.

Absolutely Perfect Getaway

Everything about this rental was wonderful. The location on Silver Lake is beautiful. The house is immaculate and makes the most of its location. The enclosed porch overlooking the lake is a great spot to eat, play games, or just relax and watch the lake. The outdoor hot tub got a lot of use. Nice area with a lot of amenities not too far away but also quiet enough to feel disconnected from things. Can’t wait to come back again!

Great Place on Great Lake!

We've stayed here 2 years in a row and we love it! This home is so perfectly appointed, it makes you feel quite special to stay there. Easy to work in kitchen, with many places to hang out with your group or find a spot to be by yourself. The porch on the lakeside is the best...wonderful spot for family meals and games, but also a perfect spot to hole up with a book. The hot tub is perfectly placed for lake views and the large deck the same. Whether you're hanging inside or out, you're in a great place. This is a short walk to one of the best restaurants in the area with it's own great lake views. Highly recommend this place!

Great Rental Property

We loved this rental property and plan to return next summer. The layout of the house flowed very nicely. The porch was a great place to gather and had enough room for everyone to be able to socialize together. The backyard was flat and able to play yard games without any problems. Great bonus was only two steps into the water. Good fishing right of the pier. The owners were very easy to communicate with.

Beautiful home and location

This home is well equipped, charming, and very peaceful. The view of the lake and yard are beautiful. We had a great time with the pontoon and ski boat we rented while there. The house had more than enough sleeping space and plenty of outdoor furniture, hot tub, fire pit, and large porch overlooking the lake. We had all our meals on the porch and played lots of games there also. We brought our bikes along and enjoyed riding around the lake. We would definitely recommend it and will most likely go back there again ourselves.

Perfect family retreat!

We have been fortunate enough to stay at this property a few times and each time, we are reminded what a great location and property it is and it always exceeds our expectations. Even though this is an original cottage, it has been thoughtfully and beautifully updated and furnished. Rick and Angela are fantastic hosts, responsive, keep guest well informed, and are generous with their piece of paradise. Our family does tend to settle in and not venture far- so I can only speak to the property itself which has everything one would need to enjoy and relax. We used the kayaks and SUP, and spent a great deal of our days just playing in and on beautiful Silver Lake. Time was well spent- fish were caught, many games played, belly laughs had, tales told, sunsets watched from the deck, and some s'mores and great family memories were made. Thank you once again for sharing your property with our family we as always hope to be back.

You'll Fall in Love with This ace

We loved this place! We've been vacationing on Silver Lake for over 50 years and have stayed many places...this is one of the best! We had 3 families stay here during the week we rented and the layout was really good. Good spaces for hanging out with each other, but layout is such that you can find places to get away on your own too. The kitchen was really conveniently situated, with several of us being able to work in there at a time. Bedrooms are comfy, bathrooms have lots of space. The biggest treasure is the porch on the lakeside...you don't want to leave it... The outdoor space worked really well for our group. Many different spots to hang out and felt like a decent amount of privacy. Great spot from which to boat and really nice area for swimming. We loved being so close to Silvercryst...a long time and great supperclub...easy walk. The owners are really responsive and very easy to work with. We would not think twice about renting again 😊

Great for a Girl's Weekend

Cute historic cabin on a beautiful lake. Lots of beds for sleeping and plenty of seating for games and dining. My girlfriends and I really enjoyed our stay and relaxing in hot tub! Great location with 3-4 wineries in close driving distance. Good restaurants close by as well. Would stay here again if we were in the area.

A perfect place to get away.

My family and I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at this property many times now. It truly has everything you could want as a setting for a great get-away. The property owners are exceptionally responsive to communications and the house is simply wonderful; beds and space enough for everyone, as well as common areas for meals. The large porch and table might just be my favorite spot on the planet. Silver Lake is special to us and this home helps makes the time on the lake pretty amazing. Super convenient location and some really nice amenities, we couldn't ask for more from the hosts or the location. Thank you for again sharing your slice of Silver with us.

A Great Silver Lake Cottage!

We had a fantastic time at this cottage. The cottage is located on a very scenic part of the lake offering outstanding views. It is uniquely decorated and had more than enough room for our children and grandchildren. The large enclosed porch, outside deck and shaded lawn provided a great space for our family to gather each day. All the amenities provided made for a wonderful time. The wave runner, kayaks, and paddleboard allowed us to explore all aspects the lake. The hot tub, audio system, swing, firepit and grill also made for a perfect week at Silver Lake. Great home away from home

Our stay in Wautoma at the Brudny property was fantastic. We we were right on the water with beautiful views. Plenty of space inside with all of the amenities needed. We went in November, so needless to say it was quite chilly outside. Inside, we were cozy and warm. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Wautoma!

Surprise romantic weekend getaway for my wife's birthday!

I rented Sliver Lake Cabin for my wife's birthday. We had a great relaxing weekend! The cabin was everything we were hoping it would be!! The hot tub and view of the lake were awesome. We enjoyed dinners at silvercryst supper club and Moose Inn. We can't wait to visit again and highly recommend this cabin for anyone!

Simply the best!

This home is just spectacular. Rick and Angela are extremely generous and responsive hosts who have created a truly welcoming and family friendly home. The property is beautiful and in an ideal location, both for watching the sunsets over Big Silver and a very short walking distance to Silvercryst. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and the bunkroom downstairs is ideal for school age and older, perfect for tweens, teens and young twenty-somethings. The porch is perfect for family meals and game playing, or relaxing and reading a book. The outdoor hot-tub is a wonderful way to relax after a long day of fun on the water, and the outdoor shower perfect. We have been fortunate enough to stay here before, it never disappoints. This year a very clever ski lift swing was added to the yard which we enjoyed- particularly the binding cup holders. We took advantage of the firepit and made S'mores. My eldest daughter brought her travel hammock and hooked it to their tree tie-outs in front of the porch. My family and I enjoy the kayaks and SUP, it is a perfect location for family time and to put your toes in the water and your *** in the sand. I truly love this property and am very grateful to the hosts for sharing their slice of heaven in Wautoma.

The classic cottage was originally built circa 1900 by William Walker as part of the Silvercryst resort. Later when the resort property was subdivided by the Walker's, Boyd Merryfield purchased the cottage and the lot. He expanded and completely renovated the cottage in the 1970's/1980's and lived there for many years as his primary residence. When we purchased the property, it needed a complete update again which was recently completed. My family of 6 (along with our family and friends) still use and enjoy the cottage and lake as our vacation 'get away' several weeks each year. We have recently decided to rent it for a portion of the year when we are not there.

Why they chose this property

My extended family has been vacationing in Waushara and Marquette counties for well over 30 years. Waushara County is "Where Up North Begins". When my family decided to purchase our own vacation home, we chose this property on Silver Lake because it had the most potential, and it is on the best water sports/fishing lake in the area. In addition, it is very near several ski hills that visit annually. Lastly, we love the history of the area and the location. It is only a 2 hour drive from our home near Milwaukee, but we are still "up north'' when there.
We have a large sandy beach, are on the best part of the lake, and experience amazing sunsets. We have a large level lot to the lake (2 steps down to the pier) and are a short walking distance to the Silvercryst resort restaurant for dinner and drinks and entertainment.

What makes this property unique

The all season porch (with radiant heated floor) is the best room in the house. Walls of windows provide full views of the lake. A cozy seating area, dining for 8 - 10, sound system, vaulted ceiling with fans, and bamboo flooring (with radiant heat) make this the room where most inside time is spent. Unique whole house sound system for those who enjoy music. 3 smart TV's allow for the streaming of your favorite movies and TV shows from our high speed free cable WiFi. The outdoor hot tub, outdoor shower, large level lot to the lake, and a one-of-a-kind 4 person yard swing constructed from an antique ski chair lift are also unique features. And remember, ONLY 2 STEPS DOWN to the pier. Owner's Poontoon boat and/or 3-person WaveRunner PWC is available to rent to qualified renters.
