Secluded House Attached To Large Garden, Orchard And Allotment
Chez Emmot is perfectly located...immersed in the beautiful French countryside with ample privacy supplied by the surrounding fields, orchards and vineyards. A 10 minute walk away is the small village of Taillecavat which has a local bakery for your morning pastries and baguettes. The house is also situated midway between the bastide towns of Monsegur and Duras (each approx 5km away) where there is an array of shops, newsagents, bakeries, bars, restaurants, banks and not forgetting Duras Chateau.
The house is fully equipped and sleeps 6 comfortably. There are two double bedrooms and a twin room plus 2 travel cots available. There is one bathroom with a separate toilet. There is an additional room in a windowed basement room which has a double futon available but we would like to make it clear to guests this room whilst habitable is not yet decorated to a high standard. Please enquire for further information should you require to use this room.
The kitchen is fully equipped and newly refurbished. It has an induction hob, oven and dishwasher facilities.
Having visited many gites and houses on holiday ourselves we personally spent a great deal of time enjoying the outdoors. We always find that the garden at Chez Emmot is at the heart of our stay. Alongside big open spaces for playing a game of badminton, kicking a football or splashing in the paddling pool (adult-sized) or just relaxing on a sunlounger we also try to maintain a stocked potager and thriving orchard - which guests are able to raid as the seasonal fruit and vegetables ripen. Depending on the time of year you visit you might find Apricots, Plums, Apples, Pears, Cherries, Persimmons, Greengages, Nectarines, Figs, Crab Apples, Raspberries, Strawberries plus whatever season vegetables we have planted such as Tomatoes, Aubergines, Courgettes, Peppers, Chard, Lettuces. Or perhaps you could pluck a bunch of grapes off our vine which grows against the house to enjoy with your evening cheese. We also keep 3 bikes on site for guests to use if they wish.
Each season still brings us new discoveries of flowers, animals or insects which reside within our boundaries. The lizards are always around to welcome you in and if your lucky you may get a visit from our resident green lizard who at a foot long with a bright blue throat is a great holiday spot. Or perhaps our baby hedgehog will pop his head out from the bushes at the back of the house to say 'hello'. If you are truly blessed (and an early riser) you might catch one of the wild deer in the garden minding its own business.
**2021 Update: Due to Covid - we have not been able to visit the property ourselves to stock the allotment with vegetables and do lots of gardening. We have a gardener who will continue to maintain the lawns, trim the banks and edges and keep areas accessible but we apologise if there is a more 'wild' feeling to the garden**

About the host
Hosted by Mary Roberts
Chez Emmot was the product of a fantastic holiday to the region in Summer 2006. After falling in love with the area Mary bought Chez Emmot along with her Parents and Auntie, Uncle & Cousin the following November.
Why they chose this property
It is always refreshing to visit an area of true tranquility and beauty. The locals are friendly, the wine tastes good and the food is exquisite. Visiting this region leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world again.
What makes this property unique
Always a fan of French Gite holidays, we have always felt the garden is the most important part of the accommodation and can really make a holiday...enjoying bbq's, kicking a ball around, playing boule or just sunbathing or lounging in the hammock. With this in mind we try to make the garden a real relaxing area for both de-stressing adults and energetic children!
