About this property
Albegna: stylish nature house with garden and view
Our holiday apartment Albegna is located at an altitude of 700 metres in the hills of the Maremma, in the south of Tuscany.
This charming nature house combines modern comforts with traditional Tuscan style. The high ceilings, terracotta floors, and large windows create a bright, airy atmosphere. The characteristic brick kitchen with a natural stone sink and modern appliances invites you to prepare local dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Ideal for couples who appreciate peace, nature, and the outdoors.
From the apartment, you can take beautiful walks directly from Podere Sant'Angelo, or explore the surrounding hills by e-bike (e-bikes are available for rent in Roccalbegna). French doors lead directly to your private garden with sun loungers and views over the Albegna Valley.
Under the spacious, covered 21m² veranda, you can enjoy a good glass of wine, a cozy meal, or a barbecue on the Weber grill as the sun slowly sinks behind the hills. In the evening, the view is enchanting: the silence of the countryside and a starry sky make this a place to truly unwind. The well-maintained Mediterranean garden at Podere Sant'Angelo, with its lavender, rosemary, and old roses, enhances the sense of space, tranquility, and nature.
Visit from Albegna
the baths of Saturnia
the Etruscan villages of Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano
the UNESCO landscapes of the Val d'Orcia
the medieval towns of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano
the undiscovered beaches of the Parco della Maremma.
Albegna is suitable for two adults (plus one child up to 12 years old). A cot and high chair are available for children.
Your host lives on site and will personally welcome you in English. He's also happy to give you tips on hiking trails, restaurants, and local producers.
Good to know: Podere Sant'Angelo is located off the main road network. You reach the holiday home after about three kilometers via a well-maintained strada bianca (an unpaved country road), typical of the Tuscan landscape – a guarantee of peace, privacy, and authentic charm.

About the host
Hosted by Graham Bradford
I grew up in the north west of England. After university studies in Scotland I left the UK to live and work in many different countries.
I've been enjoying life here at Podere Sant'Angelo now for over ten years and enjoy sharing my experiences of Maremma, where to eat and lovely places to visit, with guests.

Why they chose this property
Podere Sant'Angelo has wonderful views, and, as it faces west, enjoys amazing sunsets. The peace and quiet here have to be experienced to be believed and help all guests to relax and take on the slowed-down rhythms of the area. We're hidden away 700m high in the maremma hills, even during the hottest summer days we enjoy cool summer evenings.
What makes this property unique
This part of Tuscany is still off the regular tourist trail and offers a glimpse into life in this wilder, more remote part of Tuscany. The small family run trattorie round about offer delicious home made cooking at very reasonable prices. The countryside isn't heavily farmed and there's an amazing variety of butterflies and insects in general to be seen here, the praying mantis is a favourite, as are the gekkoes that dart around the property in the summer months. There's no light pollution round here, guests often remark on the clarity of the night skies and the wonder of the Milky Way that stretches over the main house.
