The historic Boot & Shoe Cottage, once a cobblers and a pub, lies on the southern bank of the River Tees at an ancient river crossing from Yorkshire into Durham. We offer a warm welcome with a roaring log stove and home-baking, comfy sofas and country antique furnishings. The River Tees flows past the back garden with an abundance of wildlife including the resident kingfishers and occasional otter and to the front there are fields with horses, sheep and rabbits. A short walk through our wood brings you to the tennis court. Private fishing is also available.
The cosy sitting room looks onto a small front garden and fields, while the kitchen and dining area has a log stove and French windows opening on to the garden overlooking the river. There is also a utility room. WC and shower on the ground floor.
Upstairs are two bedrooms - a large double bedroom and an attic-style bedroom with a single bed and a 2' 6" bed, ideal for chiildren.
The two bedrooms share a bathroom with bath (with shower over) and WC.
You will receive a "welcome hamper" of homebaking and groceries on arrival and frozen meals can be ordered in advance.
A cot and high chair are available on request.
Parkimg for 2 cars and EV charger adjacent to the cottage
There are several pubs nearby, the closest being a 5 minute drive. Barnard Castle has a wide selection of local shops, including several specialising in antiques, a weekly market, a farmers' market, banks and post office. There are also 2 excellent farm shops a few miles away.
