The property was in a great location and was well appointed for our stay. It has a ton of space and was great for two families. The host was very easy to communicate with and check in and out was smooth. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to spend some time in Marblehead.
We had ten women on a "girl's trip" and had a wonderful time! We most enjoyed the very large living room, where all of us could fit comfortably and spend our evenings playing games and laughing. The location was perfect, and close to everything. Only a short drive to Salem, which is where we spent most of our time. We had been worried about having only 2 bathrooms for all of us, but things worked out well when a little consideration was applied. The kitchen was well-equipped but very small. Only 2 people at a time could be in there, so we had to take turns with the toaster, oven, and coffee maker. Internet was great, we were all able to connect very easily. John was a very gracious host, was easily accessible, and communicated very well. We will absolutely stay here again when we go back to see all the things we missed this time!
Lovely large house, comfortable for family group, fabulous location just at the edge of Old Town and just a few minutes’ walk to Gas House beach, Grace Oliver’s beach, and Old Burial Hill.
We loved the Colonial charm the moment we stepped into this house. Everything was there for us and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the house was nice and quiet. Perfect for a place to destress. The nooks and crannies in the house surprised us at every turn. John was very friendly and always available to answer our questions. The location was exceptional and delightful and just a walk way to everything. I highly recomend this stay!
We had a wonderful stay! The home was beautiful and exactly as described. It was very close to Salem and the town of Marblehead was also an experience and beautiful town.
John was easy to contact and was available to help, thank you!
Great size for multi families. Great location to walk to and enjoy the Festival of Arts, beaches, concerts at Crocker Park, restaurants, shops, Red’s Pond and to explore Marblehead’s rich history.

Great large family home!
This house was awesome to stay at. We will be coming back hopefully 4 years to come. It is nice to have a place to know we can come back to year after year. There's plenty of space or a couple families and everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

Daniel and his family were a pleasure to host and we look forward to his visit again this summer! They were very careful with the house and left it spotless.
We rented this house for our daughters wedding which was in Nahant. John was a great host. The house was a perfect space for the wedding party to get ready. The location was great, lots of little shops and restaurants.
John is a highly communicative host. The location was the best part of the home, where we were able to walk the entirety of Marblehead! The property is spacious, though the bedrooms themselves were a little snug. The attic space was a great bonus area for our kids to play.
Charming old home with large family room that accommodated all guests. Unfortunately, a couple of the kitchen appliances did not function properly, making it impossible to cook at the house.

We were surprised to hear of problems with kitchen appliances since this guest did not report anything wrong at the time. We met personally with them and they said everything was perfect! We will immediately make repairs if any are needed.
About the host

We have owned this house since 1980 and have had many happy summers at the beaches and pond nearby. We added a huge family room, kitchen eating area and back deck in anticipation of our growing family and we spent most of their time there enjoying views on three sides! I am a retired energy conservation engineer working for a large company but I am now travelling a lot (business and pleasure) so sharing our home for others to enjoy is perfect for us.
I moved to Marblehead in 1977 after graduating from University of Illinois, when I fell in love at first sight with the charm and beauty of Marblehead. I have never tired of seeing and smelling the ocean next door and always feel that "Ahhhh!" moment when I drive past Grace Oliver Beach around the corner fromour house after a long hard day at work.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is filled with young children and everyone is very friendly and protective of each other. We are all professionals in the neighborhood and we live here because while the home is near the central Historic District, we all love the open areas and countryside feel of the neighborhood. It is a very quiet neighborhood and many of my neighbors have never locked their front doors! That's why I always feel safe and welcome here in this little gem of a neighborhood in beautiful Marblehead. You will too!
What makes this property unique
This historic 1876 house always draws a "Wow!" when people first see it. It's a central-entrance Greek Revival Colonial with period architcetural features, but beautifully maintained and retaining all the original interior features that made it special in 1876: exterior pediments and dentils, wood shutters that still work, interior mouldings, and many built-ins that make living here both beautiful and convenient.
We added a huge family room that adjoins the conveniently designed kitchen and allows all 12 guests to join together for conversation and indoor activities. An outdoor deck is right off the family room and has couches, chairs and tables for everyone to enjoy outdoor relaxing and eating.
A spectacular, skylighted 3rd floor attic has been added as a child's game room or TV room, away from the adjults, and provides ping pong and foosball tables and comfortable seating.
The best feature, however, is the location - walkable to everything great about Marblehead and in the Historic District. Salem, Massachusetts is a short drive away by car or by public transportation, and Boston can be accessed by a nearby bus line and subway system, therby eliminating the need to have a car.
There are so many unique hidden walkways and stairs in Marblehead that you will undoubtedly spend many hours exploring the neighborhood and each time you will find something interesting you missed the last time!
