About this property

HEART of Downtown-WALK to BEACH, Boardwalk & Bandstand

Oceanside in the heart of downtown Bethany, just 1.5 blocks from Hollywood beach, The Big Easy is perfect for multi-generation families. Constructed in 2016 by the star of DIY/HGTV show Big Beach Builds, builder Marnie Oursler. NOTE: we only rent *Sunday to Sunday* full weeks in the summer season Memorial to Labor Day. House is NOT available for any Senior beach week/bachelor/ette parties. Pets not allowed - NO EXCEPTIONS to any of the above.

The house is decorated in a California contemporary style with an elevator and comfortably sleeps 16 (6 bedrooms, three of which are king-size master suites with en suite baths , 5.5 baths, 2 outdoor showers). With an open floor plan, gourmet kitchen (Wolf range/oven, SubZero, TWO Bosch dishwashers, icemaker, microwave/convection oven, wine fridge and fresh herb kitchen garden raised bed) separate butlers pantry and large living area, gas grill, deck and screened-in porch, dining table seats 16, small office, two separate laundry areas upstairs and downstairs, plus a separate TV and lounge area for teens, this house makes family beachside vacations easy. NOTE: if you have extreme sensitivity or allergies to dogs, the owners pets stay in the house occasionally.

Our house typically books over a year ahead for the upcoming summer season. We offer full cancellation refunds for bookings up to 180 days before arrival. After that 180 days, if we rebook your stay then we will of course refund your deposit minus any differences in rate and our time to manage the process. Please book carefully considering your risks and purchase travel insurance for any weather or public health externalities.

Our house manager will check you in and check you out and is available to answer questions and provide on-site assistance, as needed.

As is typical at the Delaware shore, we do not provide bed or bath linens. You can rent locally or bring your own.

TAXES: new in 2025, the state of DE has added a new rental tax of 4.5% in addition to the 7% the town of Bethany Beach charges. VRBO will collect this tax at booking.

FRAUD NOTICE: We will not accept more than the amount due and we will never send refunds for over-payment to anyone. Payment on VRBO is only via credit card and refunds will only be issued to the original credit card used. ALL fraud attempts are reported to the Delaware Attorney General's office of internet fraud as well as the US Federal Trade Commission cyber crime task force.

What a Stay!

The Big Easy is simply beautiful, spotless, and well equipped. I highly recommend it for a large group of all age ranges. It's convenient to downtown and the boardwalk and there is plenty of parking.

Great Time at the Big Easy

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house that is only a short walk from the beach and all of the offerings of downtown Bethany. The house was clean, well maintained and perfect for a group of mixed ages. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!

The Big Easy

It’s a very beautiful house with well thought out space for big families. The location is great in downtown Bethany where you can walk to everything. The owner and house manager were a pleasure to work with. My family and I would love to stay there again.

Perfect Beach Home

The location, the cleanliness, the stocked kitchen tools, the spacious bedrooms, pre-reserved beach umbrellas and chairs, the list could go on! This home is beautiful and well kept. We had such a great stay at The Big Easy and truly enjoyed all that this home had to offer. Can’t wait to come back!

Family reunion perfect house

The house was gorgeous and the absolute perfect location. We were able to walk to all the shops and walk to the beach -a block away everything. The house is very large and spacious. No one felt crowded fully equipped with everything you need for cooking. Was lovely, if we had a family reunion again, I would book for sure!!

Great place! Highly recommend!

My two kids (8&11) and I really loved this house. It is well decorated and very comfortable. Plus, the owners are very accommodating and friendly. The kids loved the loft area and I enjoyed being so close to the beach. It's great to be able to come and go to the beach as you please! We will definitely stay here again.

The Big Easy

It was a wonderful week at our favorite beach and our new favorite rental. The Big Easy is just that. The home provided everything needed for our family to relax and enjoy each other.

Lovely house close to beach and shops

We held our fifth annual family vacation here this year. There were enough bedrooms and room for all of us to spread out. The kitchen was well equipped for almost any kind of cooking. The kids loved being on the ocean side of the highway and so close to the shops, especially the ice cream and candy stores!

Great house and fantastic location!!!

This beach house is just perfect! The location is superb - great neighborhood just steps to the beach and downtown restaurants!! Very easy access to the beach and a great outdoor shower. The screened porch was wonderful to sit and enjoy the peaceful backyard. The house is very comfortable and is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a your time at the beach...I highly recommend it!!

Lovely beach cottage in a perfect location!

This charming beach house was perfect for our family of five. The decor is just adorable and exactly how I'd picture the perfect beach house. The kids loved the loft, and we all loved the screened in porch. The location is perfect. Walking to the beach is so easy, and we walked to the Bethany boardwalk a couple times each day with our dog. I would definitely recommend it and hope to stay here again next summer.

Amazing New Home 2 Blocks from the Beach!

Amazing beautiful new home that was perfectly designed for large groups at the beach. Property manager helped us check-in and out of the property and was easy to communicate with. Owner was easy to communicate with and had an organized binder on the house and restaurants with personal recommendations. Home was more beautiful than the pictures and descriptions on VRBO! I have been coming to Bethany Beach for 50 years and this was my best stay ever!

80th birthday celebration

We had a great time at this amazing house! It was everything the pictures showed and more! The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to easily cook all the meals we wanted. Two dishwashers were brilliant! The open floor concept made family time cozy and comfortable, but when anyone needed their own time they could comfortable retreat to the privacy of their own rooms! We look forward to coming back!!!

Wonderful family vacation at The Big Easy

My 3 sisters and our families had a wonderful stay at The Big Easy. It’s honestly tough to say what we liked best about the house- our kids loved the back porch, bunk rooms, and kids’ hangout room. The adults loved the spacious great room and proximity to everything- it’s an easy walk to the beach and to town. Thanks to the thoughtful layout, we were more than comfortable even as a larger group. We truly felt “at home” and made memories during this trip that we will never forget. Thank you to Sandy as well for being so responsive and welcoming! We hope to return.

Can't say enough!

Our best Bethany trip to date and it had everything to do with the house and location. 4 adult sisters, their families and "Nonna" spent a week and loved every minute of it. The home is comfortable, clean and well-equipped, not to mention, just beautifully decorated. If I had one concern it was that maybe the house was TOO NICE for us, but turns out we didn't mind that at all! We, adults, loved that the beach and boardwalk were so close and we could let the kids come and go without concern.

Great home for family vacation

Couldn't have asked for more! The home was beautiful, with plenty of room for the 12 of us to spread out. We spend a multi family Thanksgiving here and the kitchen was supplied well enough to cover all of our more complex cooking needs. The house was about a two blocks walk to the beach and into downtown Bethany. My suggestion for future renters is not to forget hand towels for the bathrooms when you pack your towels. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us!!

Incredible Bethany Beach vacation home

In all the years that I have stayed in vacation homes across the country, this is the first time that I have written a review of a property. This home is so special that I am compelled to do so! A group of 9 of us loved every minute of staying in this brand-new, meticulous, and stunning home. In fact, within minutes of arriving, we all wanted the name of the decorator! The home more than comfortably accommodated all of us, as the owners have thought of every possible amenity throughout the home. We look forward to returning and creating more wonderful memories there!

Cute little cottage

My wife and I stayed here with 4 kids and Grandma. It is a very cute cottage, clean and tidy. The upstairs loft is great for all the kids, but there is no door or other barrier between it and the downstairs living room; that might be a noise or safety issue for some kids. The bathroom is quite small, but the outdoor shower is great. The kitchen is also small, with very little counter space. It is across the street from the fire house, but it is quiet there and very convenient to town

Great stay!

3 different families stayed in the house with 6 kids ranging in ages from 7-14. We had a great time! The house was exactly as listed and really well stocked. Having 3 masters was nice for the adults. The owners gave a ton of information about the area and amenities before the stay which was really helpful. The property manager, Sandy, was lovely and flexible. The chair/umbrella rental at Steen's was a nice bonus. It was nice being so close to downtown. The beach is about a 2 block walk, which isn't bad. If you have a big crew, this is a crowded part of the beach, set up your spot early if you can. Overall, wonderful experience. Thanks Anna, Blair and Sandy.

Beautiful property for our multigenerational beach holiday.

Our family had a wonderful week at “The Big Easy.” Over the years we have stayed in dozens of rentals up and down the eastern seaboard and everyone agreed this was the nicest and most cared for. Everyone enjoyed the well-equipped and nicely appointed kitchen and cooking up wonderful meals. Location is great to walk to town for ice cream and bandstand, and the included umbrella and chair service for the beach made for a lot less to haul the two blocks. Tip for future guests: use the exhaust fan over the stove early and often when cooking with heat. It will help dissipate the residual heat and keep the third floor a more comfortable temp for everyone.

Great Place

We loved this place. The location, was perfect, the size was just right, and the town is awesome. My two kids (4 & 6) made out wonderfully on the stairs and sleeping upstairs. The outdoor shower was perfect, covered and with a changing area. A short and easy walk down town and to the park and beach. The house was fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. If we come back next year to Bethany, I will book this house for sure. The only thing I wish the place had was a little vacuum cleaner to help keep the carpet downstairs clean during our stay. The broom didn't cut it, with kids in and out of the house.

We are a family of four who enjoy relaxing by the beach creating lasting summer memories for our kids. We loved the small beach cottage we originally purchased but it wasn't big enough to accommodate friends and extended family. That is why we built the new house in 2016. The location in downtown Bethany is perfect for our family and yours! We specifically wanted to be on the ocean side of Coastal highway place so our children could safely explore downtown and the boardwalk and watch a movie on the beach or get an ice cream cone.

Why they chose this property

The location of this house is it's best feature -- just one a half blocks from the beach and 1 block to downtown. There is parking for five standard cars in front, in the garage and behind the house. Bright, colorful and casual. This is beach relaxing at its best.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! This house also allows multi-generation vacations, with three master rooms as well as an elevator to help those who can't navigate the stairs.
