We stayed for 4 nights, it’s very quiet on that area of the beach. Was like having a private beach. Visited the nature center at feeding time, very educational.
Great relaxing location on a quiet beach. This location is for you if you like relaxing on the beach, fishing or going for walks and the beach is dog friendly. The action of Lewes or Rehoboth are not that far away. You can see a beautiful sunrise if you are an early riser.
Upstairs cute cottage overlooking slaughter beach. Beautiful view from front bedroom and cute little deck to have coffee on and watch sunrise/sunset. Good price!
Was one of the cleanest places we stayed in. Awesome views of the water. Loved how close to the beach it was. Should fix the attic door in the ceiling to close properly.
It was awesome to be literally steps from the beach, great views from the bedroom and back room. It was great to have the bedroom windows open and hear the ocean put u to sleep
Location is amazing, views are amazing
House could have been cleaner and they have an ant problem so don’t leave dog food down. Super dog friendly beach but not great for swimming
Would go back
Everything you need for a quit getaway! Loved the beach front property to enjoy the sight & sounds of the bay! So many windows to let in the light. Comfortable and clean. We hope to come back again soon!
The house was dated and some of the furniture old, but the location was beautiful, neighborhood quiet, and a short drive to the Lewes beaches. The owner was very responsive and sunrises memorable. Thank you!
What a beautiful property! We spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the sunrises, the dolphins swimming by, the tanker lights at night, sunsets, waljung on the beach. On a dead end road, there wasn't a lot of traffic, which was great. We aren't into the boardwalk or nightlife, so this was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next year!
My husband and I both really enjoyed our stay. So quiet and peaceful. Our furbabies loved walking and playing on the beach. Clean and cozy. Bed very comfortable. So many windows with the view of the bay.
Very pleased.💙
I love Slaughter Beach and this is a great property for being able to stay at the beach with your furbabies. I've brought my dogs with me for both stays and it's great for them. The view is great from the 2nd floor apartment. The only issue we had was that it could have been cleaner (which was not an issue the first time I stayed last year). I would definitely return to stay though. Check-in and communication were seamless and prompt with the property manager.

We loved the back porch of this property. It is the upper floor so it has a great view of the beach & watching the sunrise each morning was magical. The beach was easy to walk on & goes long distances both ways. Our dog liked it too. The horseshoe crab shells on the beach look like Alien masks. So cool. We loved it here so much we extended our stay by one day. The property managers made it very easy to do so. We’re from Texas and didn’t know Delaware would have such a nice hidden gem on a beautiful beach.

All was good except we had to reach out to property manager about 3 times before arriving to get access code. Received it just as pulling in driveway. There was some mouse droppings in closet, but rest was clean.

Thank you for your review! We will reach out to the cleaning company and possible pest control regarding the mouse droppings so that we can make sure it's all taken care of. As far as check-in instructions, we typically email them out two weeks prior to arrival but a day-of reservation changes our system up a bit. We will be sure to try and get check-in instructions out quicker for any future day-of reservations. Thank you again and glad you enjoyed your stay!

Bugs galore
Had to clean the refrig and frzr before I could put food stuffs away. One of the bathrms still had someone's hair/bath products in the tub which had not been cleaned nor had the sink. The day we left the toilet in one backed up and would not flush and the other one was "iffy", We had the bch to ourselves most of the time due to the swarming biting flies. The best part of the trip was being able to watch sunrise from the back deck and early a.m. beach walks. Also, bring your own food because there is not a market for miles.

Thank you for your review, we really appreciate the feedback! We were not aware of the toilet situation until we saw your review here and a plumber has repaired the issue. We have updated the cleaning company regarding the items you mentioned as well. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about flies on the beach but I can recommend a bug net and bug spray if you ever stay in the area again! There are 2 seasonal markets 10 minutes away and a Food Lion 15 minutes away as well but the area is definitely much more secluded. Thank you again and I am so sorry for the issues that you had dealt with during your stay. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!

We (myself, my partner, and our two friends - a married couple) came to stay for a long weekend for the Dover NASCAR race. The location was about a half hour drive from the speedway and worked well for our needs. The house is a classic, quirky seaside getaway, ideal size for two couples. Certainly not without its quirks. We got a laugh out of the slanted floors and the "railroad" style bathroom leading into the second bedroom - not much privacy, LOL. There are four units on the lot, so don't come expecting privacy from other groups - but everyone staying that weekend was chill, respectful and relatively quiet, so that wasn't an issue. I got the impression from my pre-stay email exchange with Abby that the supplies in the home would be limited, and we were encouraged to bring our own paper goods, soap products, and towels. I didn't get a response when I emailed and called back asking for clarification on what to expect in terms of supplies. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was soap, coffee, TP, etc. - but it would have been nice to know ahead of time that was all there so we didn't have to pack our own. (Towels are a must, though!) The grill was also a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed cooking out during our stay. The beach access couldn't have been easier and we loved strolling the shore and meeting the many horseshoe crabs!
I wanted a beach trip but didn't want to travel 8 hours to do it. I was pleasantly surprised that Slaughter Beach was part of a wildlife refuge. Im a huge birder as a hobby.
The view was exactly what I was looking for. We didnt have the greatest weather but did get stunning sunrises. Not being able to swim was a bit disappointing. The water was brackish looking and at low tide we could see that there were lots of rocks. We still enjoyed walking up and down the beach though and took full advantage of the porch.
Milton was a great town and we enjoyed great food at Irish Eyes and Doughbar. We also got to attend music in the park. We ventured to Lewes and learned of the history there.
If I had to offer up any recommendations it would be to change up the furniture. While it was functional it was definitely not comfortable. The bed however was perfect. The toilets were also really low. Not accommodating for people with knee problems.
The place was very clean and stocked with all paper products.
We hope to stay again in the future.
Let me start out with the positives- the area was quiet, the porch area had a nice view, the microwave and dishwasher were newer, the kitchen sink was nice but this was the extent of the positives . We knew the place was “well loved” from the pictures but were not prepared for the condition of the unit. When we first walked in, we were hit with an awful smell— a mix between pet and mold. The unit was not clean. The walls were filthy(could see where liquid or something was splashed and not cleaned in multiple places), the fridge was from the 80s and dirty, ice maker didn’t work, the fan had an inch of crud on it, there was mold in the bathroom by the vent fan, there was dog hair and crumbs on the rug, towel rack was coming off the wall, the stove had crumbs on it. For safety reasons we had concerns because the deadbolt was broken. Luckily the area seemed pretty safe. The furniture was beyond old, had stains on it and was not comfortable. The worst part was all the sheets had a ton of hair on them. I called the property manager and the cleaning lady brought new ones but all of them had hair on them as well so I think it was the washer/dryer did not work. In my opinion this unit should not be on VRBO. It is not kept up and made for a miserable stay. This could be a nice unit if some TLC was given to it. I asked for a discount since we only stayed 4 of the 7 nights paid because of the unit condition, never heard back. Stay away from this property.

Nice and relaxing stay
If you are looking for a secluded spot on the water, it is the place for you. This was my first experience with the bay beach, and probably the last. Bay beach has its own disadvantages I was not aware of before: the water is very shallow and does not look clean, it has fishy smell, and you won’t/can’t swim in it. Since it’s a bay beach, it has a lot of insects, especially in the evening. flies, mosquitoes are everywhere and they are very annoying. There is not much to do around here but just enjoy the view with beautiful sunrises and sunsets, listen to the sound of the ocean, walk on the beach and collect the pebbles. If you’d like to swim, you need to drive 25 min to Lewes beach, the closest beach we were able to find. There are no restaurants, stores, cafes or any other activities around Slaughter beach.
As for the house: The house has beautiful views and it’s right on the water. You can hear the sound of the ocean right from one of the bedrooms or enjoy the view while having your coffee on the balcony. I just wish it was a little cleaner. If you are planning to cook, make sure you bring your own frying pan, spices, salt, oil..otherwise the house has all cooking-ware. The bedrooms are on the smaller side. We have never received any check in instructions and had to call VRBO for the code. Make sure you receive the instructions beforehand to avoid the wait time by the door.
Thank you for accommodating us at your property.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate the feedback on the location and property. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the location, but glad you enjoyed the views and walks. Restaurants and shops are about a 15 minute drive away as this area is more secluded. We have reached out to the cleaning company regarding your concerns, but their contact information is also located on the refrigerator if you choose to stay with us again! I've also reached out to the owner on updating spices and getting a new pan. We always send out check-in instructions to guests 2 weeks prior to arrival, which we did send over (sometimes it can go to the spam folder). I apologize about the inconvenience, but glad I was able to answer and get you in immediately. Thank you again!
Our second time staying on the property (we stayed in the back apartment previously), and we had a wonderful time. The unit was spacious and nicely furnished, and the views were incredible. We enjoyed coffee every morning on the balcony and loved watching the sun rise and set. Great space for our two children and two dogs!
