Awesome little cottage on the water in Whidbey perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. Great communication, easy access and everything was as advertised. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed the quiet beauty of the area. The patio was great and reading in the bay window was perfect.

Thank you Ginny. The bay window looking out at the water is probably the most popular feature of our Cottage during our stormy rainy months. We're so glad you enjoyed it!
Stayed here with my wife and overall, it’s a solid spot with some great views and a really quiet atmosphere. The cottage is well set up and has everything you need, plus good WiFi if you’re working remotely.A few things to keep in mind: the shower and toilet are pretty small, especially if you’re a bigger person, and the queen bed felt a bit tight for us. My biggest disappointment was not being told ahead of time that the stairs to the water were out—I was looking forward to using the beach.
This comfortable and cozy cottage was the ideal place for a weekend getaway for two. It's perfectly situated looking west over the water; there are many windows, a lovely little deck and a hammock from which to enjoy the view. It's next to a larger house, but sited in such a way to create some privacy. We hope to be able to stay here again.
Out stay could not have been nicer. We were in search of a relaxing and “off the beaten path” destination and we found it! Kimberley is a wonderful hostess-available and responsive with the few questions we had and she provided everything we needed for a 3-day stay. The bed was comfy and provided a wake up view of the forest and waterway as did the living room and kitchen. Lots of windows! We felt like a part of nature as we looked out at the lovely gardens and dense forest! Whidbey island has lots of beaches and hiking trails and kayaking. Kimberley knows the island well and made great suggestions for our adventures. We would happily return to the cottage!

Beautiful view!
The view was amazing. There was no access to the private beach as advertised due to significant damage to the stairs. The hammock had weeds growing through it and the patio furniture was pretty moss covered. We did enjoy both the outdoor and indoor fireplaces which was lovely, however we were concerned there was no smoke detectors or fire extinguisher incase of an accident. Overall it was a nice stay with outstanding sunset views.

Hello Michelle,
Thank you for your review, we love hearing suggestions from our guests. We understand that you didn't see the smoke detector and fire extinguisher. I apologize for your concern. We do have both there. The Wi-Fi enabled smoke and carbon detector is high up on the vaulted ceiling wall and may have been hard to notice. I will make sure the fire extinguisher is more obvious for guests in the future.
As for the weeds you mention under the hammock, those are ecologically important native Salal shrubs that grow as part of the understory here, companion to our magnificent Douglas fir trees that the hammock is suspended from. They provide food, shelter and habitat for the local wildlife. So we are happy they are growing so lushly. However from your feedback we will have them trimmed down a bit.
My husband and I spent a few days at this well-built and private cabin on Whidbey Island. We totally enjoyed the comfortable bed and cozy fires in the fireplace each night. We were close to excellent restaurants, but also made a few meals at home in the cabin. I would’ve appreciated some directions for the induction cooktop as well as more lighting in the kitchen area. We were also under the impression that the location was right on the beach and not on a cliff overlooking the beach, and would’ve enjoyed walking at low tide had it not been such a hike up and down. But all in all we totally enjoyed our stay.

About the host

This recently remodeled cottage has been in my family since I was a kid. I grew up coming here from Seattle every weekend that we could get away. I moved to Whidbey Island as a young adult and raised my family here. In addition to managing the cottage for my Mother, I work at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA), the local performing arts center in Langley.
Why they chose this property
Our waterfront property has it all, it's own beautiful secluded sandy beach which is one of the best saltwater swimming beaches on South Whidbey Island. The long stretch of flat sandy tidelands cause the water to warm up very nicely on sunny summer days. The property has huge fir and cedar trees, a peaceful reflecting pond at the edge of the woods and a sweet orchard with blackberry bushes next to it for summer pies. We love being able to share our property with others who will enjoy it as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
The cottage features stunning views from both inside and out and features comfy seating areas, both inside and out, for enjoying the views or cozying up with a good book. It has built in seating in the living room bay window, built in bench on the deck as well as very nice patio furniture, a hammock and a gazebo. Inside the cottage there is both a wood burning fireplace and wood burning cook stove to keep you warm and toasty during the winter and stormy days.
