100 Year Old Cabin on the Chestatee River, wineries, tubing, fishing and more

This unique 100 year old log cabin sits next to the banks of the Chestatee River. Perfect for fishing, tubing or just sitting on the riverside platform having your morning cup of coffee of set at sundown with a glass of wine. Whatever your pleasure, we want you to relax and in this new time we live in, cleanliness is or number 1 priority. We sterilize everything and “ozonate every room after each stay to assure that there isn’t anything you wouldn’t want to take home with you left behind. 3 bedrooms and a master suite. 2 full baths. All stone and log construction. Large kitchen with a fireplace, large living room with a fireplace, game room, reading area and a solarium. All the rooms have a view of the Chestatee River. The cabin was previously owned by writer Hugh Wilson which wrote such great movies as "Police Academy", "First Wives Club", and the TV series "WKRP in Cincinnati" The Cabin is within minutes of some of the best wineries in the world and also just down the road from "The Dahlonega Square" with a bunch of great shops where you can shop til you drop or where you can pan for gold or visit the historic gold museum. Bet you didn’t know that Dahlonega was the 1st place GOLD was discovered in the United States. Come have a memorable stay. Now let me answer 2 of the most asked questions that we answer. The most popular question is 1: how much of the Lodge do we get?..answer All 4500 Sq Ft. No one lives in the Lodge while your there. 2: do you have cameras in the Lodge?…No, your privacy besides the cleanliness is most important.

We had a wonderful stay in this cabin. The surroundings were beautiful and the house/cabin was really amazing! Although the house was 100 years old, which gives it a charming appeal, it was very well maintained. The interior was well kept, clean, and had an upscale feel to it. The bedrooms are all upstairs, so your party will need to be able to navigate stairs, but this wasn't an issue for us. The cabin overlooks a bend in the river, and view is spectacular. There is a private deck area off the master suite which is the perfect place to privately enjoy a cup of copy or read a book. There is also a cute little stone platform/patio with chairs right down on the river. Where we were visited by the "resident" otter. The hosts were amazing! They were very accommodating, kind, and responsive. They even baked us a loaf of pumpkin bread upon our arrival. I really can't say enough good things about our experience here. We actual were married next door at The Oar House, a private events venue, which was also an amazing experience. I highly recommend you check these places out!

Tim is a 5-star host of a 4-star property. This 100 year old house has tremendous history, but a few items concerned me during my stay. The flooring in the master bath is not level and easy to slip or trip. The top of the stairs railing is very low. I nearly slipped coming down the top step and fortunately saved myself from falling. My concern is the railing at the top of the stairs is too low to hold onto. This historic home is quite dark with lamps everywhere around the home to help provide adequate lighting. Please label what light the switches apply. One final recommendation would be to add some privacy shade/blinds on the end of the property closest to your home. While preserving the beautiful view and historic nature of the home, having some privacy blinds would be nice given the close proximity to the owner’s home next door.As I said above, Tim is a 5-star host! He was easy to communicate with from reservation, to arrival and departure. If I had a question, he was quick to reply. He met us upon arrival, gave us a tour of the home and his wife provided some wonderful pumpkin bread. Love that level of service. You don’t find it very often and it was very much appreciated. This is a historic home with a beautiful and peaceful view of the river below. We were able to get Uber service from the house to town approx 3-4 miles away.We enjoyed our stay during GoldRush weekend.

We moved to this property from Fla. in 1996 with our 2 boys. It has been an awesome place to live. The sounds of the water and the feeling of being on vacation every time we came home.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this home because of the character and uniqueness of it. On the river and very secluded. The people of the town are second to none.

What makes this property unique

This property is centrally located to everything that is happening in Dahlonega and the wineries, golf, shopping and hiking.
