Your condominium will be supplied with beach towels. It will not however be stocked with beach equipment. Too often items break or go missing and it is not feasible to track and replace the items. Sullivan Properties, Inc firmly believes in recycling & lowering the carbon footprint we leave on this planet! If items are purchased or acquired by guests and are still in good condition, we are happy to leave them in the unit for others to enjoy. If they are extremely dirty or broken, we must toss them out. There are places nearby that rent beach amenities – your property might also have an onsite rental shack. Most of the rental places nearby offer daily or weekly rates. Please note, we are not endorsing these companies simply providing the more popular options in the area : Snorkel Bobs in the Kahana Gateway Center, Boss Frogs in the Napili Plaza and Boss Frogs in Kahana Manor. Maui on the Fly for baby equipment rentals – this includes baby beach toys and other beach necessities for children. For more details and information check them out on the web!

Plenty of fine dining and family-friendly restaurants are within a mile of Kahana Sunset. For convenience, there is a Napili Market, a grocery store that is about ¼ mile away. Also located at the Napili Plaza are retail shops and a few eateries including Mama’s Ribs &Rotisserie, A’a Roots, Joey’s, and Maui Tacos. Kitchen 5315 and the Gazebo restaurant are located at the Napili Shores resort. Just on the opposite side of Napili Bay enjoy the Seahouse restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also has a great Happy Hour with both food and drink specials!

Kapalua’s beauty can be enjoyed through hikes, restaurants and gorgeous beaches. The hiking trails at Kapalua range from easy to extremely difficult! Enjoy the ease of the Kapalua Coastal Trail, the Village Trails or the very difficult Mahana Ridge Trail. Kapalua is home to some of Maui’s best restaurants. Higher end spots like Merrimans, Sansei, the Plantation House Restaurant, Cane and Canoe, and the Banyan Tree are wonderful.

Beautiful getaway in West Maui

The small semi-private beach is absolutely wonderful, sandy and gorgeous sunsets. The property is a bit old but we knew that going in and the parking is a bit tight. Overall tho amazing and would stay again!

Beautiful stay

Beautiful view and stay. All amenities needed were there and a very quiet community. Didn’t have any issues besides there were small insects in the kitchen counter. We just made sure to put everything in the fridge. Very clean and nice host. Thank you.

Family trip to Maui

Overall, the condo was satisfactory. At first check-in, we immediately noticed the entry door is not set properly and makes a loud screech every time you open and close it. I am sure that is not fun for the neighbors to hear it every time we had to enter or leave the condo. The furniture is very outdated and we noticed that the property was not “deep cleaned.“ It was clean on the surface, but there was a lot of dirt and dust if you looked closer. The mattresses were very old and outdated, although they were sufficient after long days on the beach. It was also very nice to have some leftover beach chairs and toys from previous renters for us to use during our trip. After looking at other properties around West Maui, we feel that this property was priced very high for the quality that you got. It was in a beautiful setting in terms of the grounds, with a great view of the ocean and watching Wells off the back porch. Also, it is a tropical climate and this property had a hard time with smaller insects (springtails?). They are really small, but you can see them all over the countertops and in the bathroom and sinks. We did not notice them anywhere else in our beds but something to be aware of for this property.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We very much enjoyed our month at Kahana Sunset. The grounds are very well-kept and the pool is magnificent! The beach is very small and the waves are sometimes quite large, wiping out the entire beach. When the waves are not extremely high though, the beach is really fun. There are plenty of lounge chairs for everyone and lots of places to set up, whether you like sun or shade. The groundskeepers were always working, keeping the grass and gardens very nicely. The condo unit itself was quite adequate, although it could use updating. Would have been nice to have a powder room on the main floor as our daughter used the sofa bed in the living room and had to go upstairs in the middle of the night to use the washroom. Kitchen was well-equipped although we could have used a kettle for tea. Furniture and beds were quite comfortable. The resort is not within walking distance of any stores or restaurants. You have to have a car, which we did. I don't know how many times we drove Highway 30 into Lahaina for activities and supplies. We had to go to another hotel for concierge services as Sullivan Properties used to have someone on-site but they no longer do. Communication was really well-done with detailed directions provided before our arrival. Water was turned off for repairs one afternoon but no big deal. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave!

Everything was clean and well maintained. The Kahana Sunset is a beautiful setting and a lovely place to relax and rejuvenate. Lance, the groundskeeper seems to work 24 hours a day and keeps everything clean, functioning, and pleasing. I will definitely be back!

We had a great view of the ocean and watched the turtles and gorgeous sunsets. Our door key pad quit functioning luckily during business hours and within a few minutes the property staff was there to fix it. All the property staff were friendly and professional making our stay enjoyable.Our only concern was there was a Gatorade bottle left under the bed from the last guests. We also hoped that all the bedding not just the linens were changed, clean and fresh as the tenants in the condo next to us were sick for five days making us wonder of the sanitation making us hopeful those things were taken into consideration.Overall the property, condo and staff were excellent. We stayed with our sister and brother-in-law for their fortieth wedding anniversary and it will be one for them to remember.

Kahana Sunset is my favorite place to stay in Maui, however, this unit needs some tlc. I was dissapointed in the leanliness of the bathrooms. I will return to Kahana Sunset but will choose a different unit. Its a beautiful location with a perfect beach!

The landscaping has matured and is well maintained. The pool was in great shape and it was the first time that we have seen giant green turtles at the shore! It’s always been quiet and restful day and night, and still is! I would recommend it to anyone!

Quaint property with a couple issues

The atmosphere and property were both nice and quaint with a handful of lowrise condo buildings surrounding a nice little courtyard with a pool and small more or less private beach. It definitely felt pretty unique and special. We found the lack of AC generally reasonable. However, it did require leaving the upstairs balcony door open through the night which was a little uncomfortable and there were birds in the trees over the parking lot which made lots of noise around sunset and sunrise, which were sure to wake up anyone still asleep in the back bedroom with the louvers open for air. The unit appeared clean, but we found a few lizards inside mostly withing 24 hours of arriving. We also found groups of little ants around throughout our stay. I'm guessing we were unlucky and maybe followed up a guest who left the screen doors open regularly or so my something, we didn't meet anyone else with a similar issue during our stay. The building underwent quarterly pest mitigation during our stay, so they seem to keep on top of it.
